Associaon Missionary Thoughts: We had a Great Meeting at South Newington Baptist Church for our Spring Celebration meeting. This wonderful Church Family provided a delicious meal for all who attended. Then we had an uplifting time of worship through song. We conducted a little business and then Rev. Brooks Cail from the FBC of the Islands brought a message from Nehemiah 11 of the topic of “Quitting”. “Quitting” the things about “Self” and living unto a Holy God. A very Pow- erful and Moving word for everyone that was there. Thank you Pastor Steve McCoy and South Newington Baptist Church for hosting our Spring Celebration Meeting and taking such won- derful care of us. And Thank You Pastor Brooks Cail for not only challenging us, but reminding us that we truly belong to Al- mighty God. At this meeting, we presented an Evangelism/Mission strategy for the Savannah Baptist Association. It will begin with three (3) Prayer Meetings, as we need to bathe this effort in Prayer. Then we will have three (3) Evangelism Training Seminars. We are asking each church to have someone to attend at least two of the Prayer Meetings as well as two of the Evangelism Training Seminars. We are hoping each Savannah Baptist Church will buy into this, not financially, but with personnel and effort. Then we will start coordinating our Evangelism strategy in dif- ferent ministries areas. As for our Mission Strategy, we are ask- ing for you to attend the Prayer Meetings and Evangelism Train- ings. We will be planning Missions trips to New York and prob- ably Cuba. We will share more information in the near future. On Friday, April 8 th we will be taking the Paper Products to the Baptist Children Home in Baxley. Please collect as many Paper Products as you can for this much needed ministry. A few years ago, as we will pulling up with our paper products, the Chil- dren’s Home was just running out. For the last two years we have been able to take two (2) 6 by 12 trailers full of paper products. I hope and pray we will have to get THREE (3) trailers this year. Please have all your paper products at the Association Offices by April 7 th . On Tuesday, April 12 th we will be having our Pastor’s Round Table at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Bloomingdale (Ash Street in Bloomingdale). Lighthouse Baptist will provide a meat start- ing at 6:30 p.m. and then we will have Rev. Murray Tilles from Light of Messiah Ministries speaking. Rev. Tilles is a Messianic Jew and will be sharing the Jewish culture of today, as well as how the Jews understand the Bible compared to our under- standing. Please consider attending this Pastor’s Round Table. You will be receiving emails about signing up so that we can give The Lighthouse Baptist Church a head count. Also, on April 14 th from 9:30 – 2:30 we will be hosting the Min- istry Safe Seminar here at the Savannah Baptist Center. This Seminar is extremely important for all our churches to be updat- ed on what a church needs to do about child abuse. When I first took this seminar, I learned that in every state in the US you are required to report any and all abuse to the legal authorities. Even if you think that abuse is taking place, you must report it to the authorities. And there is a whole lot more information you need to hear. Please go to the Georgia Baptist Mission Board website and sign up for this Ministry Safe Training Seminar. As always, Thank You for allowing myself, Connie, Tommy, Ste- phen, and Mrs. Gay to serve you. We are all truly Blessed serv- ing the Savannah Baptist Association. Rev. Buddy Wasson Woodlawn Baptist Church (near Savannah) is seeking a part-time Minister of Music. Will be responsible for the music/worship ministry of the church. Assembly News: April showers bring May flowers; as I’m writing this article this morning a small and brief shower has passed over the assembly bringing refreshing rains to an awakening spring and a brief respite from the high pollen counts that have recently been hanging in the air. Spring is a wonder- filled season as God’s created order springs to life with activity and anticipation. Life, in many ways at the assembly, resides within a reserve, within this beautiful tract of land many forms of life call us home. This year we have been amazed at the number of turkeys that have filled our woods and grassy areas, it has been amazing to watch them gather and forage upon our grounds. So too, as we were working on the grounds the other day we were able to witness hawk flying away with a large in its mouth, it was obvious that it was preparing a nest for the onset of spring. Much as the birds are returning and preparing for their activities, so too are leaders within our association making plans and preparations for their coming summer camps. Please join us in prayer for the boys and girls who will be upon our grounds and within our buildings. We ask that you pray for their safety and provision, that they will experience spring within their lives spiritually as the Holy Spirit guards over them and readies to come alongside them to teach the everlasting truths of God’s word. Pray for the teaching mo- ments within their sessions and for the many conversations that they will have with their leaders. Pray too for those quiet still moments that come while they are upon our grounds, that God will draw them near, and that they would be responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit within their lives. Camp; what precious memories that I carry with me from my childhood, so too are the many memories that many of you have as well. What a blessing for member churches of the Savannah Baptist Association to partner together, and to continue to make The Assembly a possibility for so many to come and for so many to enjoy. A Note of Thanks: On behalf of the Savannah Baptist Assembly, I would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the generous response by member churches and individuals of the Association to- wards the purchase of our new commercial mower for the Baptist Assembly grounds. Thank you for your continued commitment and support towards our shared ministry of Rest, Renewal, Ministry, and Mission. Blessings in Christ, Kevin Alley Savannah Baptist Assembly www.sbassembly.org. Page 3 Tony’s Tidbits: Ministry with special needs adults, trail ministry, nursing home ministry, afterschool program, teaching at a Christian learning center, and painting were great opportunities for students to be an example for Christ during spring break. 25 students made a difference in Cleveland and Helen, Ga. Many gospel conversa- tions took place. But now spring break is over. March has flown away. Now we enter the last leg of the race for the 2015-16 aca- demic school year. Things are definitely not slowing down. A special men’s night will both encourage and challenge our guys. Taking our weekly lunch to campus will allow us a great oppor- tunity for outreach. New leadership team interviews will yield a new team for next year. We will be equipping and commission- ing our Send Me Now summer missionaries. Graduating seniors will be encouraged to go and make a difference in the work world. Pray for us to finish strong. Pray for clear vision for next year.
