Newsletter- December 30, 2015 ASQ LYNCHBURG SECTION EVENT 5S, Motivation in Training and Toastmasters on Dec 17, 2015 Our ASQ Lynchburg section’s sixth and final event for the year involved presentations “5S, A Practical Users Guide” by our 2016 ASQ Lynchburg Section’s Chair, Chip Lamb; “Motivation in Training” by Viki Gossen and “Why do Quality professionals need Toastmasters?” by Muthuraman Annamalai. Chip in his presentation he gave us an overview of the 5S tool and gave us examples of practical application of 5S usage home, shop floor, and in the office. Viki in her Motivation in Training presentation provided us with a process that can be used by Quality professionals to get employees to pay attention during training. Muthu spoke to us about how joining a world-class organization like Toastmasters International can help Quality professionals develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. The event was held at Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) Merritt Hall. Dinner was catered from Upper Crust Pizza and was provided complimentary for all ASQ members.

Special Recognition- 2015 ASQ Lynchburg Section

Chair

Despite her difficult health condition and this 2015 year being the last year before her retirement, Sharon

Simmons took on the Section Chair role for our ASQ Lynchburg Section and she did a great job in leading

our section.

As a token of appreciation for her commitment and contributions to our ASQ Lynchburg Section, Past

Section Chair Muthuraman Annamalai handed out a plaque to Sharon on Dec 17, 2015.

Members

As of December 2015, ASQ Lynchburg Section ranked #5 in Membership Growth and #6 in Membership

Retention among the 237 ASQ sections in the US and Canada. In the past one year, our section

membership has grown from 72 members to 88 members. This helps the Lynchburg section feature in the

Top 10 list among all ASQ sections, for Membership Growth and Membership Retention.

Thank you to all the board members who gave their time and effort in 2015, making our ASQ Lynchburg

section able to deliver great value to our section members.

recertification journal online.
