Astric Solutions signed up as partners to Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC, Pune)

a scientific society of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of

Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. We are the Advanced Computing

Training School (ACTS) in Patna to meet the ever-increasing skilled manpower requirements of the

Information Communication Technologies (ICT) industry as well as supplement its intellectual resource

base for cutting-edge research and development. C-DAC ACTS Patna has a dedicated team and delivery

faculty for software training in different applications as per the syllabus prescribed by C-DAC HQ Pune.

Moreover ACTS Patna has been instrumental to bring in up to 100% Sponsored high end courses to Bihar

for the students who are domiciled in Bihar who are graduates and post graduates in science,

mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering and others.

CIIConfederation of Indian Industry or CII is short is a name to recon with when it comes to associatingindustry of all sorts with academy and otherwise. Astric is a member and our Founder Prabhat KumarSinha is the Vice Chairman of CII Bihar Chapter. The reason of associating with CII has always brought anew perspective to the institution and its student community. Almost all programmes and eventsorganised through out the year by CII has a large participation from student community across the state.

BIABihar Industry Association (BIA) is one of the oldest association of industry experts and organisation isbusiness in Bihar for years. Here again our founder Prabhat Kumar Sinha is the Chair IT and Head in theSub Committee made for IT and development of ICT related activities in Bihar. The benefits of beingassociated with BIA are multiple and Astric Solutions has recently accepted responsibility of participatingin Training at the Incubation Unit being put up at BIA to train employees, staff and officials oncomputing skills including Tally ERP.

RIMJHIM SINGH KIRAN GUPTA

A PG in Science from Burdwan University,West Bengal handles her activities ashomemaker with Prabhat and finds time towork on extensively towards administrativeand managerial areas in office towardsfulfilling her in-built skill both as a leadingwomen entrepreneur and also as forcetowards good quality work. Her focus is toempower women and organize variousworkshops in line with the motivational skillfor inclusive growth, her efforts towardscapacity building of honing the employabilityskills of the youth across the state withspecial focus on under privileged masses isremarkable.

A graduate with work experience of around 17years. She is also a homemaker for Pravin and isone of the architects for the group who hasbeen responsible for the overall managementof accounts, logistics and human resource alongwith the day-to-day activities. She also hasproven herself in handling the infrastructureand program co-ordination. She is the jewel forthe group in taking the leap towards the majorobjective of women empowerment and teambuilding initiatives required in motivating theyouth. He is also popularly known as AKB is also our Head of Academics apart from being

technical with multiple international certifications which he keeps adding on each year to

his credit helping our institution gain better level of partnerships from the OEM’s and his

exposure in business development, work culture understanding of the corporate and

Government worlds. He is also a Marketing and ICT mastermind with over 26 years of

experience in the IT and Education industry has worked with Governments across 20

states. Is a pure relationship person and is the mastermind for us with regards to

document creation and no one can match his expertise. He has worked as consultant 3

state governments and World Bank. He is known for his out spoken nature and friendliness

with students and students depend on his guidance for cracking job interviews.

He is a Electronics & Telecommunication Engineer has Microsoft & Cisco Certifications, in-

depth knowledge on advanced JAVA programming and also holds a PG Diploma in

Information & System Management additionally a PG Diploma in Marketing Management. A

keen researcher and trainer in the IT industry, successfully fulfilling responsibilities in the

system study, development, implementation stages of various projects. He has worked as

Senior Executive at TCS and as Customer Support Manager at Wipro Infotech. He currently

owns three roles and responsibilities within the organisation a). Manages the business of IT

The Apex Committee of Astric Solutions was an idea of

Prabhat Kumar Sinha who felt that an advisory board of

professionals, experts and stalwarts was required as we

were to carry on industry oriented course curriculums for

the coming years and there should be a Permanent

Representation of such professionals to drive the Gen Next.

Idea behind formation of association with the Apex

Committee members was also to utilise their expertise in

developing the state of Bihar where the Apex Committee

members originate or have worked or studied in during their

early age or career.

The Apex Committee members are experienced professionals

well established in their respective careers and also have an

academic bent of mind which made the management chose

them also their interest to build a bridge between the existing

gap between academia and industry for the betterment of

Bihar was a compelling reason to seek their participation in

the committee. We will add more of such valuable gems to

the Apex Committee in future as well.

The job of the Apex Committee is to:

Skill development training for Youth of Bihar is an approach to equip them with the basic skills for making

them employable and bring the rural masses into the mainstream. Competency in such skill sets might help

in immediate employment, entrepreneurial development, data handling on a day-to-day basis in an office

environment for handling all sorts of computer programs and software’s which are in demand, also the

growing number of mobile users in India with low cost smart phones flooding the market a need to repair

these handsets is also becoming a necessity. We however have cleverly devised only few courses which are

market driven and need based hence our success rate towards employability is not been a challenge so far

one of them being Computer Hardware and Networking course.

The guidelines of effective implementation of such a selective ICT based curriculum in Bihar context

clearly states that the use of Information Communication Technology in instruction will help develop the

learning community in all sectors to be empowered in a rapid changing world. Neither can we negate the

power of web today nor can we foresee negating technology tools where data can be available at finger

tips on any device at any time anywhere is already a reality, hence internet operations are a compulsory

part of all trainings. This directive of Skill Development of the government both central and state and their

agencies together with us is to empower the target audience across Bihar to use learning equipment’s

and study materials which includes computer programs that are of immense educational value are

interactive and experimental in nature for enablement of the users along with mobile technology

courseware.

The Skill Development Trainings for we are known for since 2011 includes various courses in computer,

mobile repairing, desktop and laptop repairing, hardware and network related courses, programming and

web based courses is to provide skills integrating computer manipulations in learning and teaching. Our

objective always has been more hands on and with a bigger lab sharing 40% is limited to theory and almost

60% of the time 2:1 computers are provided actually sharing learning is promoted as it promotes better

learning. We also have started offering specialized high end Computer Courses for Engineering Graduates

which is job oriented and industry approved with a very high employment ratio.

IN TECHNOLOGY: We have technology tie ups with leading non-conventional power generation

companies to cater to all kinds of Solar, Windmill and Hybrid Power generation system for Bihar.

A demo unit is installed at our Center of Excellence (CoE) for real-time experience of the

technology and transformation based on SCADA system wherein the power generation can also

be measured. We have been awarded the “Greenest Lab” on earth in January 2012 by a USA

based organisation for running 40 Nodes in our campus with 1.5KW of Solar cum Wind energy.

We intend to commence similar CoE in all districts of Bihar to replicate similar infrastructure

saving huge resources of the state and the country.

The shared computing with a small footprint is surely going to be the future of India because we

utilize less than 5% of a CPU, for its low Power consumption, lower cost of acquisition, no

maintenance and extra savings on the OS and Software. We also are associated with an

organisation who have come up with an affordable Android PC which can be attached to any

display (LED/LCD/CRT/Monitor) bundled with keyboard and mouse, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

enabled device, clubbed with content, games, OS and office suite and applications which we are

using to educate trainees in rural areas where PC is still a High Class item.

IN ENVIRONMENT: Innovation at Astric is always taking care of the environment - Clean, Green

and Serene. We have been able to reach the finals of the FICCI-UNIDO National Innovation

Competition for the year 2015 for Innovation of mobile solar module which does not break and

can be folded too where in spite of being in education domain we reached the finals competing

among 117 participants to the top 10. We have also been successful to see that the state

government replicates our success story in all the projects and it is saving about Rs.1Cr each

year on electricity bills alone in the ICT@School project.

The e-governance and m-governance initiatives taken by the government (state or central) in

recent years have posed a tremendous challenge to create the pool of skilled manpower

resources at various levels. The need of the hour is to create ICT enabled government eco-

systems and a bank of talented and employment ready work force. Our pool of experts have

some specialist who have been assisting the government mechanism towards propelling through

best consultancy services as and when required even doing some free services in creating

policies as and when required for the state government.

Since 2011 when we began our journey we have completed various training and capacity

building programs as stated above and we have learnt lot of meaningful lessons, we even trained

ex servicemen through Sainik Welfare Directorate where many dependents of the ex-servicemen

also participated. In sessions we conducted we have gathered enough knowledge to create a

pool of our own learning to educate others of how best we can utilize it for betterment of

Government Staff Training in masses in the coming years.

We are now prepared to undertake the journey as the road ahead has lesser road blocks and we

are prepared to tackle the issues as our past experiences will guide us forward. We expect to

proceed with few more association towards adding more domains in skill development. We

foresee that with the “Skill India” mission launched by the Prime Minister of India and the newly

formed Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship the speed of skill enhancement has

to pick up to such an extent that we prepare for better equipped trainees who build a better

nation together. In todays context we are good but in tomorrows context we are best bet with

technology and collaboration taking steps together towards a transformed India. We are

prepared towards driving Bihar and India ahead with best foot forward with Astric Solutions.

At Astric Solutions all students who enter our campus know for sure that here they will be learningthe classroom sessions whole heartedly and the teaching community will give their best for e-enabling them with the tools, tips and tricks to master the software or hardware aspects to the bestof their abilities using a blended learning approach which is a combination of Computer basedLearning and Instructor Based Learning. Certification is the last thing on their mind perhaps that is thereason we have seen a learner come back to us each year to learn a new technology or a new skill.Students are the main stakeholders for any educational or career building institution like ours and atAstric Solutions we care for each one of them through out the year, year after year.

Knowing well that their word of mouth will give us opportunity to cater to similar students. We useand adapt some of the best learning materials for the students in collaboration with a leadingpublication house in IT “BPB Publication”. Since our target is always professional courses, such asHardware, Networking, Web Application Development Tools, Open Source and proprietaryprogramming languages, Support Services based trainings, that would value all other type of coursesas no-no. We encourage students to experiment with ways to mix and merge the two learningmethodologies so that they can showcase a broader repertoire of skills.

Students in both regular and special certificate or diploma programs learn more about theirrespective fields and set up their skills in a faster pace in whichever mode they are comfortable. Forthis reason we take the core course as early in the program as possible along with soft skill buildingwhich has been a real pain for students of Bihar apart from IT skills their language skills, bodylanguage skills, speaking skills, listening skills and last but not the least dressing skills are embeddedhere at Astric Solutions. Writing in Digital Environments, Writing for Social Change, and Writing aboutHealth & Medicine apart from Resume Writing skills are taught to all painfully.

Even if a student has already taken a course before the core purpose of joining sometimes is to adaptto the ways we teach subjects to sustain in the industry. Keep in mind that the texts or coursematerials and projects we feature in our courseware portfolio can come from the tech gurus whohave spent years in the academy or the industry writing or writing-intensive courses for any programand can also include workplace and community-based writing whether or not these are connected tospecific courses for the over learning and creating an ambient atmosphere of better learning.

We encourage students to take advantage of the open sessions and workshops for group discussionsand presentations during the programs each term, and also seek feedback (personally, anonymously)to help us learn from students about how we can better learning environment at Astric Solutions. Werecommend that all students put more stress on “hands on” mode of learning for which we keep thelabs open on weekends too. We have a career guide, a motivator and a English language trainer for allbatches as it has been observed that the people from Bihar are weak in framing sentences which regrammatically incorrect hence consume more time than average people from other parts of country.We also seek intervention of a yoga and meditation trainer from time to time for teaching themethod of relaxation of the body and the mind under the supervision of the Yoga guru which helpsour trainees to de-stress themselves from the tensions at work place and home at times.

TRAINING: Studies have shown that the use of computers and educational software’s in teaching has a

significant impact in pupil’s learning outcomes, these pupils were highly motivated and focused in any

lesson which involves manipulation of computers and each participant acts as facilitator of learning

rather than talking all throughout the lesson. The community of learners in this case are pupils in the age

group of 18 to 40 years hence the acceptability has to be understood to help them gain knowledge and

skills of the highest levels for which tools have been devised and established over a period of time by our

experiments on content its relevance and also interest through our advisors from the Apex Committee

and tech gurus. We always look at it as an Industry Academia interface for bridging the gap in skill

development domain. Bihar is not aligned properly towards the global requirements though we started

early in respect to others and hence have the largest learning curve in understanding the market and

behavior of the market which requires certain skills and not all. Our training has gained respect in the ICT

domain due to our sincere efforts.

ASSESSMENT: It has always been observed by the training and capacity building domain professional that

post training assessment is a very important factor yet is mostly overlooked by many a firms. We at Astric

Solutions have valued partners who help us with third party tools to do a proper assessment test and

certify the trained students with proper benchmarking which is given high value in the industry. Unless

assessment is done in a proper way the industry rejects the trained students either in an interview or in

practical field examination.

MONITORING: We have been involved in multiple skill development initiatives both at state and central

levels and could not find a monitoring mechanism to justify the training and assessment as none of the

existing tools were ‘concurrent’ in nature or practice. We took the initiative ourselves and devised a MIS

tool using Free Open Source Tools and created a SMART tool which caters to all the stakeholders of the

Training Institutions involved in government funded schemes or likewise. From the time a prospective

trainee walks in to the campus, to counselling-admission-course conducting-examination-certification-

alumni and e-learning during his/her course from the leisure of home through a dedicated ID and

Password for each student. For trainer an ID and Password to upload all presentations, notes on a daily

basis, for the Administrator to send SMS on specific occasions like Birthday, Holiday, Examination

announcement etc.

SCHOOL COMPUTER ACCESS NETWORK (SCAN):

An innovative cloud based application with SMS integration for asset management for computers or

tablets or laptops spread across long distances making it difficult to monitor on a daily basis. SCAN was

initiated for ICT@School project of Education Department of Government of Bihar society “Bihar State

Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. “ in the year 2011 as per the directions of

Managing Director a system which would help the society receive an SMS if the ICT lab at school was

run on a given day. The objective was to monitor usage of ICT Lab at remote locations under

ICT@School Project. It is till date the only solution which costs about Rs.2/- per School per day to own

and the most robust.

The Pilot began on 16th June 2012 and was dedicated to the state by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar on

16th July 2013 and one word of praise from him was “LAJAWAB” the beneficiary of the Project being

School Students across 832 schools of Bihar.

PARTICIPATIVE ONLINE EXAMINATION MANAGEMENT SOLUTION (POEMS):

POEMS is a solution catering to Government Departments and Institutions for end-to-end examination

management for recruitment of teaching or non-teaching staff through open requisition in newspapers

and monitoring of the entire process as a project including recruitment process as per set guidelines of

Government of India, submission of application forms, acceptance of the application and demand

drafts, scrutiny of the applications, release of admit cards, conducting of examination (offline & online),

management of examinations, assessment of examination (OMR/OCR/Copy Corrections), uploading of

results within the given time frame and publishing on website of client, SMS integration for

transparency at all levels with each stakeholder.

As the need for IT infrastructure is growing each passing day government organisations and their

departments are feeling the need for the same. Unfortunately they are unable to create space to

incorporate their need with the requirement the high value setup because of few reasons like non

availability of IT resource, budget constraints due to obsolescence and high cost of maintenance. Astric

Solutions has been providing IT Infrastructure on hire depending on the need of the organisation. It has a

rare distinction of having incubated TCS iON for almost 2 years from 2 employees to 108 today, It has

nurtured firms like CSM Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Of Odisha, Neveah Technologies of Kolkata, Navkar Centre

for Skills Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi and Laurus Edutech Pvt. Ltd. From New Delhi.

We have provided IT Infrastructure for holding Online Examination for almost 200 nodes to TCS iON, C-

DAC and NIELIT for multiple times in a year even today we are approached by organisation seeking the IT

setup for holding training and examinations which we make available if the same is free. We also have

been chosen as Learning Partner by the Bihar Regimental Centre at Danapur to conduct training at Army

HQ at Danapur Cantt. Area (in their premises) for JCO’s, Jawans, Servicemen, officials of army, their family

members, ex-servicemen and war widows.

We are commencing with a Digital Learning Academy (a PPP initiative between AASTHA (Welfare

organisation within Army) and Astric, which is almost 2,000 sq. ft. of high end computing setup where

innovation is the key, and the 3 labs being setup are eye catching for sure.

LAB 1: A setup of 20 Nodes on Desktop Sharing Technology using 5 Watts per Node

LAB 2: A setup of 10 Tablet Based Learning Tool with Specialised content loaded onto them

LAB 3: A setup of 10 Android based Nodes which consume only 2 watts of power each

We hereby want to communicate to the country and world that there is no way to proceed unless one
