ABOUT US

Baba Farid Group of institutions is managed by Baba Farid Vidyak Society founded in 1993 under the encouraging patronage of a prominent educationist of Malwa Region of Punjab with an aim to provide quality education to young minds and to prepare them to face the competitive world. The lush green campus spread over 70 acres is located 4km away from municipal limits of Bathinda city on Bathinda- Muktsar Road. Baba Farid Group of Institutions having more than 10000 students offers more than 60 Graduate and Post Graduate courses. The infrastructure is equipped with Air Conditioned classrooms, Conference Room, Centrally air conditioned library separate air conditioned departmental Library, Seminar Hall and Computer Labs, etc. The institute has separate air conditioned hostels for boys and girls having rooms with attached wash rooms. The institute provides a well connected transport services to all the adjacent areas within the radius of 70 kms.

ABOUT BATHINDA

Bathinda is located in the south west region i.e. cotton belt of the Punjab state. It is well connected with New Delhi, which is 315 km. away, by air, rail and road. The weather at Bathinda during the month of April will be pleasant and the vegetation is in full bloom.

In the current scientific age, materials science and radiation technology are the most

significant areas of research as our continuous technological development is dependent on new

class of materials with suitable properties and various radiation processes. Materials Science is

an acclaimed scientific discipline, expanding in recent decades to surround polymers,

ceramics, multifunctional materials, glass, composite materials and biomaterials. Materials

science involves the discovery and design of new materials. Many of the most pressing

scientific problems humans currently face are due to the limitations of the materials that are

available and, as a result, major breakthroughs in materials science are likely to affect the future

of technology significantly. Materials scientists lay stress on understanding how the history of a

material influences its structure, and thus its properties and performance. All engineered

products from airplanes to musical instruments, alternative energy sources related to

ecologically-friendly manufacturing processes, medical devices to artificial tissues, computer

chips to data storage devices and many more are made from materials. In fact, all new and

altered materials are often at the heart of product innovation in highly diverse applications.

I cordially invite you to participate in the conference and look forward to welcome you at

Bathinda.

Dear Colleagues

Radiation has wide applications in almost all walks of our life. It is necessary to

understand the origin, properties and effects of these radiations on the medium which results in

physical, chemical & biological effects. In addition, there are several situations in which, the

human beings come in contact with the radiations mainly in research, medical, industries,

nuclear power plants, agriculture and spacecraft applications. Safety use and control of

radiations is very essential for the personnel involved in these fields. Hence, it is a standard

practice for the radiation workers to optimize the radiation exposure as low as reasonably

achievable.

INVITATION

Keeping the above mentioned needs, Baba Farid College, a constituent of Baba Farid Group of

Institutions, Bathinda, Punjab is organizing an International Conference on “Advances in

Smart Materials and Radiation Technologies (ASMART-2020)” from 8-10 April, 2020. This

conference will focus to facilitate the exchange of latest research, current practices, and future

trends in the field of radiation physics and material Science that would best fit for the local as

well as global needs.
