response in health and disease by showcasing

important clinically relevant research, including new

animal models for human immunologic diseases,

viral immunology, immunopathogenesis, and clinical

laboratory immunology. In particular, the journal

highlights important discoveries in immunization

and vaccine research, such as the development and

MMBR keeps researchers current with the latest

developments in microbiology as well as related

fields such as immunology and molecular and cellular

biology. The journal explores the significance and the

interrelationships of the latest discoveries that build

our understanding of bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi,

and other higher eukaryotes. Review articles enable

both non-specialists and specialists to understand the

state of the science and apply the latest findings to

advance their own research.

MCB is dedicated to disseminating new findings

and advancing new research that contributes to our

knowledge of the molecular biology of eukaryotic

cells. Examining both microbial and higher organisms,

the journal showcases significant discoveries in cellular

morphology and function, genome organization,

regulation of genetic expression, morphogenesis,

and somatic cell genetics. The journal also examines

viral systems, publishing papers that emphasize their

impact on the cell.

ASM Announces Genome Announcements, a

New Open-Access Journal in January 2013

ASM is pleased to announce the launch of Genome

Announcements, an online-only, open-access

journal in January 2013. The new title will publish

brief reports of genomes of particular organisms

that have been sequenced and deposited, and

provide a citable record of the corresponding

GenBank submission. Eukaryotic Cell, Journal of

Bacteriology, and Journal of Virology will cease

publishing Genome Announcements with the

last issues of the 2012 volume year. Genome

Announcements will be posted online on an article-

by-article basis and will be published as bimonthly

issues throughout the year. The new journal will be

included in online subscriptions to Eukaryotic Cell,

Journal of Bacteriology, and Journal of Virology.

Please be sure to add Genome Announcements to

your institution’s collection.
