RF Climate Change Resilience Initiative
RF Climate Change Resilience Initiative is a $70 million, 5-year initiative that seeks to shape and substantiate strategies to help people cope with the climate change that is already happening and will continue to accelerate in the next decades
To date, the funding has focused on developing and testing approaches to build resilience in: sub-Saharan African agricultureAsian urban areasUnited States domestic policy
Poor and vulnerable groupsUrbanization
Climate change adds a new set of challenges to existing urban poverty and poor urban development
•Possess few resources to prepare and plan for impacts;
•Have low capacity to respond to shocks and disturbances;
•Rely heavily on the climate for livelihoods and survival; and
• Live in areas exposed to climate extremes.
ACCCRN Overview
Vision: “ACCCRN aims to catalyze attention, funding, and action on building climate change resilience for poor and vulnerable people by creating robust models and methodologies for assessing and addressing risk through active engagement and analysis of various cities”
Anticipated Outcomes:1. Capacity building of cities
ACCCRN cities will have improved capacity to plan, finance, coordinate, and implement climate change resilience strategies
2. Network for knowledgePractical and actionable knowledge generated in the program are shared and used by a broad range of actors
3. Expansion and scaling upThrough funding, promotion and dissemination of resilience building models generated in the program, ACCCRN will engage with potential sources of funding and technical assistance globally
