A fantastic short trek to climb Indonesia’s second highest volcano, the spectacular Mount Rinjani (3726m)

the tripThe small island of Lombok is dominated by Indonesia’s second highest volcanoe ‑ the spectacular Mount Rinjani (3726m). Mount Rinjani is a semi active volcano and held in awe by the islanders who regularly ascend the steep trail to the crater rim. We follow in their footsteps completing an introductory‑moderate trek and wandering the crater to appreciate the bright emerald green waters of Lake Segara Anak and stunning views across Lombok. If you have time, we can highly recommend our extension to Gili Air where you can relax, swim and snorkel after your trek. This is a truly spectacular trek and we hope you can join Wild Women On Top on this not to be missed adventure.

Local cash payments are becoming increasingly popular with many operators in the adventure travel industry. The policy seems to benefit the tour operators, more than the local economies or travellers, as it avoids local taxes and transfers the cost and risk of cash handling to travellers. In accordance with our Responsible Travel practices we have chosen a policy not to ask for such payments.

country informationLombok is characterised by its pristine beaches, stunning mountainous scenery in the east and the dramatic summit of Gunung Rinjani and handicraft villages dotting the lush central plain. The indigenous Sasak people make up about 85% of the population and have a culture and language unique to Lombok. Indonesia has an area of 1.9 million sq km scattered over 13,700 islands, Lombok being one of them. Parts of Indonesia are still vast, barely explored regions of dense jungle and many islands have extinct, active or dormant volcanoes. Indonesia harbours one of the world’s richest natural environments with an incredible diversity of plant and animal species.Indonesian people are generally very friendly and courteous. Indonesia has a diverse mix of cultures rather than one single one however despite this, a strong sense of orchestrated nationalism have created a very definite Indonesian national culture. It is the fourth most populous country in the world with a population of just under 200 million made up of predominately Muslim people although there are a wide variety other religions that co‑exit to a lesser extent including Christianity and Hinduism. Indonesians are very modest people and conservative dress is essential when traveling, especially for women who should avoid tight tops and pants. Indonesia is technically a democracy with a President at the head of state. Pack your sense of humour and a positive attitude on any trip to Indonesia ‑ we will supply the rest.

climateIndonesia is hot all year around‑ hot and wet during the wet season and hot and dry during the dry season. Coastal areas are often pleasantly cool, however it can get extremely cool in the mountains.Generally the dry season runs from May to September and the wet season from October to April. On our Rinjani Climb trip, between April and September you can expect temperatures of 20‑25C degrees and on Rinjani summit temperatures will be as low as 5‑10C degrees.

dietary requirementsProvided we are advised in advance of your departure we are able to cater for vegetarian diets and can assist with medically recommended diets (allergies and intolerances). Please ensure you discuss your requirements with us well in advance (at least 1 month prior to your trip) to determine whether we can cater to such dietary requirements on your chosen adventure. Please note that options are likely to be limited in very remote locations or alternatives may be more expensive or unavailable. There may be times when those with special requirements may need to provide their own food.
