What is EF University Foundation Program for medicine? International students who have ambitions of being a qualified doctor can now apply for EF’s University Foundation Program (UFP) for medicine. This three-term program provides students with the best possible preparation for their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) by teaching them advanced biology, chemistry, maths, English and study skills. Students who successfully complete the UFP, and meet UCLan’s progression requirements, have the opportunity to advance to the MBBS at UCLan – a five-year degree that prepares graduates for life as a doctor anywhere in the world.

All students enrolled on the Medicine UFP are guaranteed an interview with the UCLan School of Medicine and Dentistry. If your application is successful, you will progress to the MBBS degree program in September 2017.

Entry requirement for UFP

› Minimum 12 years of schooling (F.5 students in HK) or high school graduate

› Must be aged 17 or over › At least 80% or equivalent on

their high school diploma as well as high grades in maths and science and a minimum of IELTS 6

› Evidence proving a minimum of two weeks part-time or volunteer work experience in caring professions to demonstrate a passion for the industry

Graduate requirement for progression to the UCLAN MBBS

› 70% overall in EF UFP and a minimum of 70% in maths, chemistry and biosciences

› IELTS 7 › Passing at least 8 of 10 mini

interviews › MCAT/ UKCAT is not required

What if I don’t meet the requirements for the medicine program? › UFP students are guaranteed a place on a Biomedical Science degree at

UCLan or other British universities if they do not meet the conditions for the MBBS program but do meet other entry requirements

› Students can also progress to a wide range of biomedical, pharmacy, health sciences, genetics and other medical related degrees at many of our EF partner universities (currently pharmacy requires a UFP grade of 65% with no less than 60% in the specialist modules)
