A flywheel enabled Riello UPS is the nearest you can get to a ‘fit-and-forget’ power protection system. The flywheel module runs on ‘frictionless’ bearings within a vacuum at 3600rpm. Unlike competitor systems, there is no need for a bearing change or the risk of damage that can result from a loss of vacuum within the flywheel cabinet. An annual inspection with minimal preventative maintenance is all that is needed to ensure your system is in the best of health.

Introducing PowerBox

PowerBox provides uninterruptible power, wherever and whenever you need it. Each PowerBox is project configurable to provide critical systems with a site specific power solution. PowerBox is a self-contained power solution that can be delivered, installed and working within hours.

Each PowerBox contains all the necessary switchgear and distribution panels to deliver uninterruptible power from a combination power solution which can include: a Riello UPS, flywheel energy storage system, battery packs, and suitably rated generator.

Master HP UPS is one of the most efficient and site compatible uninterruptible power systems available. An advanced IGBT-based rectifier ensures a ‘Zero Impact Source’ system with the following characteristics:

• Low input THDi (<2.5%)• High input Power Factor (0.99)• Power ‘walk-in’ with

progressive rectifier start-up• Delayed start-up when

mains power returns (parallel systems)

• High output Power Factor (0.9)• Compact size: 0.85m scalable

parallel operation up to 8 modules (N+1)

• Double load protection (electronic and galvanic)

On mains power failure, a traditional UPS configuration uses a battery set to provide a DC energy source. Within the Clean Energy UPS, a flywheel provides this runtime, with the following advantages over a similar-sized battery set:

• Compact foot print and high energy density

• ‘Instantaneous’ recharge (minutes compared to hours)

• Minimal maintenance and a long working life (> 20 years)

The Modular Power Source UPS is available in 200kVA and 500kVA module sizes which can be paralleled to provide up to 4MW of clean power. The Modular Power Source UPS is a stand alone power protection and energy storage system.

The runtime available can be extended using parallel flywheels or installation of an additional battery extension pack. This is an option available within the Riello Modular Power Architecture. Within such an installation the flywheel would provide the first source of stored energy, protecting the batteries and prevent unnecessary discharges (typically 98%). The flywheel also provides the additional advantage of an almost ‘instantaneous’ recharge compared to the hours (or days) it can take for a battery to recharge to 100% capacity.

Space Optimising

A Riello Containerised Power Solution allows you to optimise space within your facility. No longer do you need dedicated space within your data centre facility or plant room. Simply sit the containerised solution where you need it and hook-up to pre-configured tails. This allows more of the building (especially on brown-field sites where space may be limited) to be used for critical IT infrastructure.

Full-Turnkey and Project Management

The Riello UPS team runs installations 365 days a year. Dedicated project managers will help you design, deliver and install the right configuration for your application. Full site surveys are provided in addition to CAD compatible drawings and documentation.

Pre-Delivery Configuration and Testing

The Riello Containerised Power Solution is designed for ‘quick and easy’ installation. Each system is pre-configured and tested to allow rapid deployment; responding to customer needs for emergency power or as part of an ongoing project. The Riello Containerised Power Solution has been specifically designed for:

• Ease of logistics: flatbed, Hiab delivery using a four-point lift.

• Mobility: forklift truck slots incorporated into the base of the unit.

Without an associated battery-build on-site the system can be up and running within one hour to a pre-configured site. Service and Maintenance

Riello UPS operate nationwide service facilities and spares depots. Whether you install a Containerised Power Solution or a single Modular Power Source UPS, full pre-sales support and after-sales service is provided by factory trained engineers. Each system can be remote monitored by a central service data centre, providing remote alarm monitoring and reporting, emergency response and schedule inspections.

Purchase or Hire

Our smaller Containerised Power Solutions are available for short-term hire to allow clients to perform their own-onsite tests prior to purchase or provide clean, resilient power for a specific event or project. This facility is subject to availability.

Master HP UPS is one of the most efficient and site compatible uninterruptible power systems available. An advanced IGBT-based rectifier ensures a ‘Zero Impact Source’ system with the following characteristics:

• Low input THDi (<2.5%)• High input Power Factor (0.99)• Power ‘walk-in’ with

On mains power failure, a traditional UPS configuration uses a battery set to provide a DC energy source. Within the Clean Energy UPS, a flywheel provides this runtime, with the following advantages over a similar-sized battery set:

• Compact foot print and high energy density

• High reliability and efficiency (99%)

• ‘Instantaneous’ recharge (minutes compared to hours)

• Minimal maintenance and a long working life (> 20 years)

• Simple ‘self-contained’ installation

• Low Total Cost of Ownership• Optional parallel battery kits

The Modular Power Source UPS is available in 200kVA and 500kVA module sizes which can be paralleled to provide up to 4MW of clean power. The Modular Power Source UPS is a stand alone power protection and energy storage system.

The runtime available can be extended using parallel flywheels or installation of an additional battery extension pack. This is an option available within the Riello Modular Power Architecture. Within such an installation the flywheel would provide the first source of stored energy, protecting the batteries and prevent unnecessary discharges (typically 98%). The flywheel also provides the additional advantage of an almost ‘instantaneous’ recharge compared to the hours (or days) it can take for battery to recharge to 100% capacity.

A flywheel enabled Riello UPS is the nearest you can get to a ‘fit-and-forget’ power protection system. The flywheel module runs on ‘frictionless’ bearings within a vacuum at 36000rpm. Unlike competitor systems, there is no need for a bearing change or the risk of damage that can result from a loss of vacuum within the flywheel cabinet. An annual inspection with minimal preventative maintenance is all that is needed to ensure your system is in the best of health.

Simplified Maintenance

The flywheel concept is an established ‘green’ battery replacement technology and one being used by leading data centre architects. Compact footprints, fast Capex recovery and high operating efficiencies help to provide an impressively low TCO. Cost savings in future battery inspection, monitoring and replacement can be up to 60% with further reductions in operating costs.

Reliable and Resilient Modules

Riello UPS are some of the most compact available. Using a flywheel in place of a traditionally sized (10 minute) runtime battery pack can achieve an overall system footprint reduction of 50-75%. The flywheel provides sufficient time for generator start-up but can also be used in series with a battery pack to protect the battery from the effects of ‘hardening’ - helping to extend the useful working life of a battery set.

PowerBox provides uninterruptible power, wherever and whenever you need it. Each PowerBox is project configurable to provide critical systems with a site specific power solution. PowerBox is a self-contained power solution that can be delivered, installed and working within hours.

Each PowerBox contains all the necessary switchgear and distribution panels to deliver uninterruptible power from a combination power solution which can include: a Riello UPS, flywheel energy storage system, battery packs, and suitably rated generator.
