Born in India I was exposed at an early age to a rich culture

that enveloped my senses. The eclectic mélange of ethnic

groups, blending of delicate aromas and multidimensional

diversity of the place is exhilarating. Imagine growing up

with creative instincts in this pulsing, energetic environment

pressured to become an accountant. As those years passed,

I added the columns of numbers and found that I could no

longer ignore the visceral punch of swirling emotions leading

me to design. In India, every household has its own signature

blend of spices that make up their own unique curry powder.

Knowing your ingredients helps you find the blend that is

perfect for you. Blending your own gives you fresher spices

that you can tailor to your preferences creating luxurious and

exotic aromas. I see this process as a metaphor for my own

experiences in design, mixing typography, patterns, colors and

textures. I have learned to follow this recipe of coalescence

guided by my intuition and experience.

luxury hotel & casino

MUMBAI is luxurious full-service hotel and casino located on

the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. Offering an unrivaled

fusion of warm Indian hospitality, world-class service and modern

luxury this property reinterprets traditions in a refreshing new

way to create lifelong memories. Hotel guests are discerning

high income travelers 50-65 who seek authentic experiences and

visual style inspired by the cultural arts, history and architecture.

I developed an original typeface and hand drawn elegant M

to compliment the iconic personality of the brand. Custom

patterns were applied across collateral to reflect the hotel’s

heritage and opulence. The color palette included maroon, a

traditional Indian color and antique gold to symbolize richness

and history. An identity manual was developed to maintain

brand consistency and usage standards.

collection of non alcoholic drinks

Created for the mom-to-be MOCKTAILS is a collection of

non-alcoholic drinks and tips on how to enjoy the pre-natal

phase of 40 weeks. Targeting moms to be, 25-40 who want

to enjoy their drinks with no alcohol this product eases the

transition to the coming bundle of joy. I chose an easy to use

format of flashcards for recipes with fun, bold curvy type

in playful shades of pink and burgundy to create interest.

Silhouettes of pregnant women and fertile flowers enhance

the feminine personality throughout. To bring energy and

contrast bright hues are used in layout with clean drink

photography and witty type treatments. Branded applications

include an interactive ipad application that features videos,

and recipes to share.

1/2 fresh Lemon juice

Mangoes are full packed with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants and folic acid. They are perfect to replenish salts, vitamins and to boost your energy after physical exercise.

Tip: The coconut cream needs to have the right consistency, some find the alternative, coconut milk to be too thin, however you can add condensed milk to coconut milk to bring up it’s thickness.

Just before serving, mix together the ginger ale, mango nectar and lemon juice in a large pitcher. Pour into chilly–salt rimmed glasses filled with ice and garnish with mango slices.

3 oz tomato juice

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 dash of Worcestershire sauce

ground pepper

hot pepper or Tabasco sauce

celery stalk and lemon for garnish

The belly Mary is a tomato juice drink that you can drink anytime. It’s the ultimate spicy drink for healthy breakfast or brunch. You can also make this with clamato juice for a variation of a Bloody Caesar.

Frosting Rims: Rub a wedge of citrus fruit used as a garnish around the rim then simply dip the rim into a saucer of sugar or salt.

Build the liquid ingredients into a old fashioned salted rimmed glass over ice cubes. Mix well. Add the seasonings to taste. Garnish with the celery stalk and lemon.

tea lounge

Masala chai is a traditional tea lounge that serves a variety of

authentic chai beverages. This popular drink hails from the

Indian subcontinent and is made by brewing tea with a mixture

of aromatic spices and herbs. The relaxed cool setting is ideal

for middle-income tea drinkers and students 20-35 looking

for positive energy and a place to study. Using a collection of

kitsch imagery from India I branded the lounge using images of

peaceful Indian goddesses. The vintage shape crest of an Indian

teakettle was offset with a layer of grungy raw texture. Indian

traditional pop art was combined with the serif font Rockwell

to enhance the vintage feel. Earthy organic colors including

brown yellow, green and peach differentiate flavors and unify

the brand. The tea is packaged in a reusable aluminum canister

and natural jute bags are used to preserve the spices and tea.

fashion magazine for handbags

A magazine of luxurious fashion Handbags, VALISE offers fresh,

private label fashion articles and bold layouts. The publication

was created for upscale women 25-40 and industry professionals

who want to stay up with up with the latest trends. To achieve

impact and style the magazine is printed on premium stock

paper. The typeface Dubiel is modified for the masthead to

bring an elegant and sophisticated feel. Helvetica Neue and

Bodoni were used inside the publication coupled with stylish

fashion photography. A hot pink, grey and black color alludes

to the feminine personality. Strong diagonal layout brings a

dynamic and modern feel.

Art Director: Amy Levine Typeface: The Quickest Shift

poetry book spread

For this collaborative project each designer was asked to contribute

a poem to be featured as part of a collective book. The original

poem “You make me feel” expresses deep feelings for my kids, and

how they made me feel whole. I wanted to echo the tone of the

poem by illustrating type. To do so, I created hand drawn silhouette

shapes of my children using henna as well as curvy shapes, leaves

and butterflies. Matte handmade paper was used for the spreads,

and embossed shapes add tonal effects.

theater promotion

The internationally acclaimed Old Globe Theater is a gathering

place for leading theatre artists and sets a standard of excellence

in American theatre. Hoping to expand their audience a series

of plays called “3 Facets” were produced targeting young adults

18-35. These plays are a memoir of soaring emotions and brilliant

humor written by Sam Shepard. True West, Ages of the Moon

and Kicking a Dead Horse deal with love, rivalry, aspirations, and

the quest for happiness. The common thread in the 3 plays is the

intertwining of characters, edgy nature of relationships and the

human mind. The direct mail piece introduces contrasting hues

of green and red on a neutral color crowded by raw textures.

A Victorian slab typeface compliments the black and white

imagery and the project includes a reply card, envelope, season

theme banners and tickets.
