Step by step fill valve principles

• Heat-sealed into the barrier bag wall is a 16mm or 32mm Intasept® gland (filling port).

• The aseptic gland features two laminated barrier membranes.

• One membrane is sealed across the top of the gland, and a second, internal membrane is partially sealed across the bottom of the gland.

• The bag and gland are then supplied sterilised, ready for filling.

• The Intasept® system provides interface sterilisation, filling and resealing without removing the bag from the filling head. At no time during the filling cycle is the product exposed to any potential contamination.

Aseptic bag-in-box filling

Steam SterilisationThe filling interface and the outer surface of the top membrane are steam sterilised at a high temperature.

Piercing the Membrane The top membrane is pierced by a forward stroke of the fill plunger.

FillingSterile product flows through the filling head and into the bag past the partially sealed internal membrane on the bottom of the gland.

Sealing and Flushing The internal membrane is completely heat-sealed to the gland from below, but does not fuse to the bag itself. The gland is steam flushed before the bag is released.
