TRADE SHOW RESPONSE IN 2019

After seven successful years of trade show, Ecobuild SEA expo returns in a new avatar, presenting a grand focus on construction-related technologies beyond its earlier focus on sustainability in the built environment. Now known as the Futurebuild SEA, the expo’s prime highlight will be centred on innovations and futuristic technologies that are set to revolutionise the global built environment by increasing efficiencies, reducing costs and enhancing productivity. Held alongside the Heavy Mach trade fair, the Futurebuild SEA expo is the region’s best avenue where construction industry players will be able to get valuable insights on new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), robotics and many more.

In addition, the Futurebuild SEA expo also presents exhibitors with the opportunity to strike great business deals as they get to interact closely with a wide pool of prospective clients from various countries across the globe. The Futurebuild SEA trade fair aspires to be the catalyst of change to help construction-related players in the region enhance their technological know-how and meet the industry’s future demand.

By embracing the construction revolution – Futurebuild SEA and Heavy Mach – are returning on 23 – 25 June 2020 at Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur. Both trade fairs, held in conjunction with the International Construction Week (ICW), will bring together businesses and industry experts to share and learn about cutting-edge technologies utilised in the construction of buildings and infrastructure in a sustainable manner.

The Heavy Mach expo, held together with Futurebuild SEA, is a dedicated trade show for the construction and heavy machinery markets in the Southeast Asian region. Heavy Mach focuses on various type of equipment such as backhoe, bulldozer, crane, excavator, compactor and wheel loader. With the continued development of new constructions and the refurbishment of existing structures, Heavy Mach creates the opportunity for businesses and industry experts to share and learn about the new development in machineries used in the construction sector.

Southeast Asia — a key region of the world that comprises Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam — is undergoing rapid urbanisation. However, concerns are high that the region – and other parts of the world - may be entering into a troubling new phase of urbanization without growth, where urbanization no longer goes hand in hand with great economic output, rising living standards, or a large middle class. The solution to such concerns is the concept of ‘smart cities’, where problems related to rapid urbanisation could be minimised and the positive impacts from the development of cities could be maximised.

This involves the integration of information and communications technologies to improve all city-related operations from traffic flows and public transportation to energy and water usage in buildings and city neighbourhoods to healthcare services, for example, by improving or setting up electronic health records. For context, in Malaysia, its capital city Kuala Lumpur has signed an agreement in January with Alibaba's cloud service, City Brain, to work on traffic management, town planning and incident response.

Economic output per person is from the World Bank, World Development Indicators, GDP Per Capital, 2010–2012, and urbanization is from the World Bank, World Development Indicators, Urban Population, 2010–2012.
