The ASEAN Committee in Ottawa ASEAN FILM FESTIVAL 2017 In celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and 40 years of ASEAN -Canada Dialogue relations, the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) will show seven films from their respective countries. The seven acclaimed films from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam will give a glimpse of the way of life of ASEAN communities and cultivate deeper understanding of the values and cultures of ASEAN countries. Malacca and the Javanese Kingdom of Majapahit, this story is set against

a backdrop of war and mysticism, about the fictionalised forbidden

romance that blossomed between Gusti Putri Retno Dumilah, a Javanese

princess, and Admiral Hang Tuah, the famed Malay warrior from Melaka.

Synopsis: Three Kayan w om en decided to travel from their

girl, who has just had the tribe’s decorative brass rings placed around her

neck.

In Taunggyi, the girl is kidnapped by human traffickers. Far from home and

out of their element, the Kayan women desperately search for the girl.
