Principal’s Report – Mr Kerry Kurtz ASCA (Australian Speech and Communication Association) This week many of our students delivered their ASCA presentations in front of the ASCA adjudicator from Sydney, Mrs Burgess. The standard from our students was as usual extremely high with some of the performances being absolutely exceptional. ASCA certainly enables students to develop and practise skills which will benefit them in many areas of their future lives. Congratulations boys and girls. And thanks to Mrs Lewis who coordinated ASCA giving much time to providing support for the students. Three Year School Improvement Plan Schools across NSW are beginning the planning phase of the new three year school plan (2018 – 2020). A very important part of the planning is community consultation. In the coming weeks we will be sending out information to encourage all of our community to be involved in the planning regarding future direction for Quirindi Public School to be headed in this new planning cycle. Education Week Celebrations Our school will be celebrating education week in Week 7 this term. On Thursday 31 August 2017 there will be the following: • Open classrooms from 12.30 to 1.00pm • A whole school assembly 1.00 to 1.30pm • A picnic lunch for visitors and the children 1.30 to 2.00pm (bring your own
picnic) • An art show that will Open after 2.00pm for parents (in the spare
classroom) Everyone is most welcome to attend. LMBR As previously advised the department is changing to a new student and financial management system. Training commenced this term for Kathy and Robyn offsite in Gunnedah. They will then come back to the school and train the remaining office staff and teachers. A major change is that the school will no longer operate its own bank account but will be part of the whole department’s account. This is a long process and will take a great deal of organisation and patience from both staff and our school community. Please remember due to this change all monies for excursions next term must be finalised by the 22 September 201 7 (last day of Term 3). Systems will shut down at the beginning of Term 3 in preparation of ‘Go Live’ on 16 October 2017. We again ask for your patience whilst this is happening, especially with those staff members that are here keeping the school operating.

The Leader in Me Congratulations to our new Recycling Leaders who were successful in their applications and interviews. The Recycling Leaders from K-2 are Connor Williams and Charlie Curll. The 3–6 Recycling Leaders are Lilly Ryan and Evie Gimbert. I am sure they will take their roles very seriously and do a fine job for our school. PLASTIC BAGS WANTED !!!!!!! Part of the important job of the Recycling Leaders is to collect scrunchable plastic bags from each classroom. Please continue to send these plastic bags into school.
Assembly Roster
School Banking We would like to thank Rebecca Robinson for coming in each week in her own time to complete the student banking. This is a time consuming activity but well worth it for our students. Just a reminder that banking day is Monday each week and children are to hand in their books to their teacher each Monday morning at roll call. There are some great incentives for those students that bank and sometimes exclusive offers. If you are interested, please see the office.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Progarm The wonderful smell that floated through the school today was the children cooking 'carrot, cheese and panko patties'. These wonderful little morsels tasted amazing and were easy to make. Some of the children had a little tomato sauce for dipping and they all agreed that this was something they could make at home as a snack or added to a main meal. The beautiful day also made a little weeding and garden maintenance a pleasure.
