TEETHBLEACHINGBy Calvin Bessonet, DDS,FAGD

Everybody loves a bright whitesmile, and there are a variety ofproducts and procedures availableto help you improve the look of yours.

Many people are satisfied withthe sparkle they get from brushingtwice daily with a fluoride-contain-ing toothpaste, cleaning betweentheir teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at your dentist’soffice. If you decide you would like to go beyond this tomake your smile look brighter, you should investigate all of your options.

You can take several approachesto whiten your smile:

In-office bleaching;At-home bleaching;

What should you ask your dentist?

You may want to start by speaking with your dentist. He orshe can tell you whether whitening procedures would be effective foryou. Whiteners may not correct alltypes of discoloration. For

example, yellow-ish hued teethwill probably bleach well, brownish-colored teeth maybleach less well, and grayish-huedteeth may not bleach well at all.Likewise, bleaching may notenhance your smile if you havehad bonding or tooth-colored fillings placed in your front teeth. The whitener will not affect thecolor of these materials, and theywill stand out in your newlywhitened smile. In these cases, youmay want to investigate otheroptions, like porcelain veneers ordental bonding.

What is in-office bleaching?

If you are a candidate for bleaching, your dentist may suggest a procedure that can bedone in his or her office. This procedure is called chairsidebleaching and may require morethan one office visit. Each visitmay take from 30 minutes to one hour.

During chairside bleaching, the dentist will apply either a protective gel to your gums or arubber shield to protect the oralsoft tissues. A bleaching agent isthen applied to the teeth, and aspecial light may be used toenhance the action of the agent.Lasers have been used duringtooth whitening procedures toenhance the action of the

whitening agent.

What are at-home procedures and products?

There are several types of products available for use at homewhich can be dispensed by yourdentist..

• Bleaching solutions. These products containperoxide(s), which actually bleachthe tooth enamel. These productstypically rely on percent carbamideperoxide as the bleaching agent, carbamide peroxide comes in several different concentrations (10%, 16%, 22%).

Peroxide-containing whitenerstypically come in a gel and areplaced in a mouthguard. Usageregimens vary. Some products areused for about twice a day for 2weeks, and others are intended forovernight use for 1-2 weeks. Ifyou obtain the bleaching solutionfrom your dentist, he or she canmake a custom-fitted mouthguardfor you that will fit your teeth precisely. Currently, only dentist-dispensed home-use 10% carbamide peroxide tray-appliedgels carry the ADA Seal.

You also may want to speak withyour dentist should any side effectsbecome bothersome. For example, teeth can become sensitive duringthe period when you are using thebleaching solution. In many cases, this sensitivity is temporary and

should lessen once the treatment is finished. Some people also experience soft tissue irritation—either from a tray that doesn't fitproperly or from solution that maycome in contact with the tissues. If you have concerns about suchside effects, you should discussthem with your dentist.

• Toothpastes. All toothpastes help remove sur-

face stain through the action ofmild abrasives. "Whitening"toothpastes in the ADA Seal ofAcceptance program have specialchemical or polishing agents thatprovide additional stain removaleffectiveness. Unlike bleaches, these ADA Accepted products donot alter the intrinsic color ofteeth.

How should I choose awhitening product?

When selecting a whitener orany dental product, be sure tolook for the ADA Seal ofAcceptance—your assurance thatthey have met ADA standards ofsafety and effectiveness. Beware ofover the counter bleaching products that claim to whiten yourteeth. They do not have thestrength to effectively bleach theenamel. They also do not properly isolate the bleaching solution to exactly where it shouldbe like custom trays do.

Usufructs: WhatAre They and HowDo They Work?

A word that pops up frequently in estate planning is‘usufruct.’ A surviving spousecan have a usufruct, survivingparents can have usufructs andsometimes people specificallyleave usufructs in their wills. With all of its uses, understand-ing what a usufruct is and howit works is very important.

In simple terms, a usufruct isa type of ownership thatLouisiana law allows. A personwho has full ownership of property has three main rights:

usus, or the right to use theproperty, fructus, or the rightto keep the fruits or profits ofthe property, and abusus, or theright to sell or destroy theproperty. If someone is granteda usufruct over a property, thenthey have the usus and fructusrights, but the abusus rights areusually given to another person, who is called the naked owner.

For example, let’s say Jamesand Sally are married and purchase a home. They have

three children. If James dieswithout a will, all of his one-half of the communityproperty, including the house, goes to his children with hiswife having a usufruct over it.So Sally would be full owner ofone half of the house, andwould be the usufructuary ofJames’s one-half of the propertywith her three children beingthe naked owners. But what do these titles mean, practicallyspeaking?

As usufructuary, Sally has theright to use the property and toget any fruits or profits from it.In the case of the house, Sallycan live there, but if she decidesto rent a room in the house, allof the profits from her tenant

belong to her. However, Sallycannot sell or destroy the houseas usufructuary. Those areabusus rights that belong to thenaked owners. If Sally wants tosell the house, she has to getthe permission of her three children.

In cases where the survivingspouse’s usufruct is createdthrough the deceased persondying intestate (without a will),the usufruct lasts until the surviving spouse remarries ordies. When that happens, theusufruct ceases to exist, and thechildren become full owners ofthe property. If Sally remarries, she and her children continueas co-owners, with Sally owningher half, and her children own-ing their father’s one-half. Inthat case, the children couldmake Sally sell the property.

The usufructuary owes sever-al duties to the naked owners. If the property is somethingtangible, like a house or car, theusufructuary must use theproperty prudently (meaningkeeping up with maintenanceand repairs), and must returnthe property to the naked owners at the end of theusufruct. If the usufruct is overcash or money accounts, theusufructuary must return thesame amount of money thatwas present when the usufructbegan to the naked owners at

the termination of the usufruct.A naked owner has duties to

the usufructuary as well. Anaked owner cannot interferewith a usufructuary using theproperty and cannot makealterations to the property. Inour example, Sally’s childrencould not keep her from livingin the house, nor could theybegin a construction projectwhile she was there.

A usufruct to a survivingspouse can be changed by awill. It can be extended for thelife of the spouse, regardless ofremarriage, or it can be extin-guished completely, giving theproperty in full ownership tothe spouse or the children.

As you can see, usufructs canbe very complicated. To makesure your planning (or lacktherof) accomplishes yourgoals, you should consult withan estate planning professionalfamiliar with usufructs as well asother estate planning devices.

Who makes therules anyway? As we approach what we hopeto be a cooler climate, ladiesthink about knee high boots, sweaters and hot cocoa. But insouth Louisiana, we may pullthat angora out a few times ayear max. So where does sum-mer end and fall begin with ussouthern gals?

I think the traditional rules offashion should be kicked to the

One More ThingYou know I was thinkingabout changing seasons theother day and how it relates tolife’s seasons. Consider a howa tree changes during the seasons; it goes through a lotof transformations.

In spring, a tree is in growthmode, with super bright greenleaves. Then comes summer. The tree is still green, but thetree has more leaves and thegreen leaves change to a deeper colored green. With

the summer season comes rain, which makes the trees rootsystem push further into theground, increasing it’s stability. Then the fall seasoncomes, and the leaves beginto change from green toautumnal hues. The tree isslowly affected by the decreasein temperature and loses it’sleaves. Finally in the winter, the tree lays naked and bare ofany leaves at all.

Is the tree any less beautiful inthe winter than in the spring? No, I think it’s just a differentkind of beautiful. It’s all amatter of perspective. Afterwinter passes, doesn’t thatsame tree grow ever larger andstronger the following spring?

The same is true with us. Wemay have seasons that are difficult. Some seasons maybe scorching hot and othersblistery cold, but we’ve got tosee the beauty in every seasonwe endure. So endure mysouthern belles, endure!

A flood or heavy rain can seriously upset your termitedefenses or better known as yourtermite treatment.

If you rely on soil chemical barriers around or under yourhome, these can be buried by siltand debris making a bridge for thetermites. These chemicals can alsobe washed out, so when the watersubsides, they are out to wreakhavoc.

Termites have trouble gettingaround when their tunnels are fullof water. So they stay home ormove to wherever is high and dry-ish. When the water drainsaway some of their tunnels will need repair and may be abandoned. They'll move quicklyto patch up access to their bestfood resources. Scary thing is thatall that moisture in the soil makestheir tunneling so much easier as

they no longer need to carry inwater to work. So, once re-established, termites will goexploring and your barriers will betested.

While you are rebuilding all the damage that the wind and rainhas caused, Termites are doing the same!

J&J Exterminating now offers a“Green” alternative to liquid barrier treatments. We would liketo introduce... (que the crowdcheers!) Sentricon ® Recruit HD.No this does not stand for “HighDefinition”, much to everyone’ssurprise...it actually stands for“High Density”. What this meansto you is that this bait can and willwithstand all of what MotherNature has to offer. Whether it ishot, raining, freezing, or evensnowing, this system can handle it.The Sentricon ® System wasdeveloped with respect for theenvironment in mind. In contrastto traditional liquid treatments, which use hundreds of gallons ofchemical solution, the Sentricon ®System uses only a few grams ofactive ingredient. Stations arelocked to deter access by pets and children.

Each bait station cap is barcodedand paired with the actual bait.Once installed, The technicianshave to scan each piece to this system in order to finalize yourreport. This allows us to track the

activity on a yearly basis and provide you with a printed detailedreport. This annual report will alsoallow you to see where the activityis strongest around your homefrom year to year.• Recruit ® HD termite bait isimmediately available to termiteswhen they enter the stations.• Recruit ® HD termite baitremains available all the time toeliminate termite colonies and protect against future invasions.• Highly durable and denseRecruit ® HD termite bait willstand up to a tough environmentfor many years.• Highly desirable Recruit ® HDtermite bait is preferred by termites over wood, so theydevour it faster than wood, andfind it even more desirable as it ages.• Homeowners prefer theSentricon ® System with AlwaysActive technology over other treatment options.1

"Yeah! Please Do! Put em backwhere they belong." Sounds familiar. To me that statement wasonly a line in an old LynyrdSkynyrd song. At this time of mylife it means much more.

I'd heard the rumors about theshortage of ammo available at thebeginning of this year. That was atthe end of last year's hunting season and I didn't need any moreammo, so I really didn't sweat theissue that much. I figured that bythe time I needed more bullets theproblem would be resolved.

Just recently I decided to bringmy granddaughter to the shootingrange at our hunting club in PineGrove. She had learned how toaim and shoot a B.B. gun fairlywell. It was now time for her tostep up to a larger caliber firearm. My wife would deliver her to thecamp later that day for someshooting practice. I had some workto do on some deer stands, so Ileft early in the morning. My planwas to stop at the Walker Wal Marton the way and pick up a box of20-gauge shotgun shells and some22 Long rifle bullets. As Iapproached the area where theammunition was stored, I noticedthat the shelves were all but empty.I finally found an employee tounlock the cabinets and I was ableto purchase a box of 20-gaugeshells. There were no Long riflebullets, which led to a conversationwith the employee about the avail-ability of certain caliber bullets. Hetold me it was very hard to get andkeep in stock some of the ammo. Ihad several boxes of 22 bullets thatI had purchased prior to 2012, soI continued on to the camp. Laterthat day, my wife and granddaugh-ter met me at the shooting range. The young girl shot the 20-gaugeseveral times and decided it may betoo much for her at this time. Iunderstood and was happy to seethat she nailed the target with eachshot that she had made. It wasnow time to shoot the 22 rifle forthe first time. It was also her firsttime to use a telescope. I love toshoot 22 rifles. They don't kick,

they're not loud, and until recentlythe bullets didn't cost that much. The young lady got accustomed tothe telescope quickly and was con-sistently knocking cans aroundwith the automatic rifle. After fir-ing several boxes of bullets Inoticed that my supply was startingto dwindle. At that point reality setin. I then realized that if I let hershoot the rest of the bullets I maynot be able to find any more. (Tothis day I still haven't found any-more 22 bullets), At that point Itold the girl that we were going toclean up our mess and go home sowe'd have bullets for another day.

Gun control has been brewingfor a long time. It's at a crucialpoint at this very moment. I'veheard people say all my life that"they" better not come to myhouse to get my guns. Well, "they"won't, until they quit making bullets for them. At that point youmight as well be standing therewith a stick in your hand, becausea gun without a bullet is about asuseless. This will probably be along drawn-out affair, probably 20or more years, but the wheels arein motion. Don't fool yourself.

If you have any desire for yourchildren, grandchildren or evenyourself to have the right to own afirearm, you better start payingattention to what's going on. Youshould support organizations andpolitical candidates that supportyour views. Let your voice beheard, or you may have heard yourlast gunshot......

It’s been almost a week nowsince I participated in that grueling athletic event and themuscles I didn’t know I possessed are still sore and thejoints I am painfully aware ofare still stiff.

The mornings I am able toget out of bed, my first six stepsresemble the old “Evolution ofMan” poster (Are those stillallowed in school?) startingwith a bent over primate stanceand gradually easing upthrough Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon stages until I canfinally achieve and sustain theelusive Homo Erectus position.

My quads and hamstrings areso sore that even when I do getupright, I walk in slow, short, sliding steps-think TimConway’s portrayal of AncientMan on the old Carol Burnettshow.

My back’s sciatic nerves arecausing a psychotic reaction inmy brain and the excruciatingpain in my buttocks is a realpain in the a--, well you knowwhat I mean.

I’m fairly certain I will needhip and knee replacements andmy right hand is permanentlydisfigured in an arthritic claw. Irealize Atlas had the entireweight of the world on hisshoulders but I would gladlyswap places with the Titan as itcouldn’t be any worse than thepressure on my neck and scapu-la in my current state.

My God, Bill, says you, whatdid you try to do? Did you tryto swim the 110 miles fromCuba to Florida like your 64-year old counterpart Diana Nyad?

Did you attempt to cyclethrough the French Alps without any Lance Armstrongprescription drugs?

Did you run in a marathon inpreparation for next April’sCrescent City Classic? You certainly didn’t try all three ofthose sports in some Tony Stark“Iron Man” competition, did you?

No, I chose a sport that looksso deviously simple that onewould never suspect the physical torture it can cause. I went bowling.

Now there have been thousands of times on the golfcourse that I have longed for atime machine so I could goback and find that first Scottishshepherd. You know, the onewho either got so bored tending his flock or so angryafter breaking up with his bestewe that he began hitting rocks

with his staff.I would gladly strangle him

with his own kilts and the mostfrustrating game in the world would never have been invented.

But who do we hold responsible for this diabolicalbowling which wreaks havocupon our unsuspecting bodies.

Anthropologists claim to havefound objects in an Egyptiantomb circa 3200 B.C. thatappear to have been used for acrude form of bowling. If so,that explains why all the

mummies were taped up-bowling injuries.

The English, German, Italianand Dutch people have alltaken credit for starting someform of the game, although it isnot mentioned in American culture until WashingtonIrving’s classic short story “Rip Van Winkle”.

You remember Rip. He waslured into a mountain cave bysome little Dutch guys carrying a keg. Rip joined themysterious men in a game of

“ninepins” and then partook oftheir liquor. He woke up 20years later with a hangover anda bad back.

The state of Connecticutbanned bowling in 1841because “it was the object ofmuch gambling”.

Leave it to us Americans totake a perfectly innocent sport, add drinking and gambling andwatch it evolve into one of themost popular activities in theworld.

Even golfers-every time theydecide to quit the game that

you can’t win-threaten toswitch to bowling.

“Hey, it’s air conditioned,”said one of my sweaty cohortsrecently after five hours and101 shots in the Louisiana heat.

“And besides, there are morewomen, the bar’s closer andyou don’t lose as many balls.”

By the way, I am in no wayblaming Gonzales’s relativelynew bowling alley PremierLanes for my sorry physicalcondition. Premier is a first-class, well-run operationthat this parish is fortunate tohave and had nothing to dowith the abuse I’ve done to mybody for the past 50 years. Thereal villain will emerge later.

I’ve been in the establishmentseveral times and everyone fromone to 92, whether rookies orpros, seemed to be having agreat time. In fact, the onlyshady-looking person wholooked as if he may have beenin on the Connecticut gamblingscandal of 1841 was in the restroom-and that was when Ilooked in the mirror.

And the latest debacle wasnot my first rodeo either. Ihave bowled any number oftimes with the AscensionMagazine staff consisting ofMike, Kelli and Tanya inChamber of Commerce eventsand enjoyed myself immensely. And I never required physicaltherapy the morning(s) after.

Those were fun outings withbeer and pizza and 4-personteams so that you could socialize (my specialty) forthree-quarters of the time andmake a fool of yourself (anotherone of my strengths) only onceevery four or five minutes.

The tournament lasted twoor three games and when someone on your team luckedup and got a strike or a spare, there were high fives all around.Gutter balls brought mild oaths from the roller and good-natured ribbing fromteammates.

even set the machines in somegames to give you a strike if youknocked down nine pins onyour first roll to give you adeceptively-but ego-building-higher score.

We had more fun, fun, funthan a Beach Boys’ song.

That was until that fatal LaborDay morning when a formerfriend and coaching colleague who shall remainnameless (His initials areTommy Douglas.) arrived at myhouse to discuss all the important events of the world-college football pools, theNFL fantasy draft and the LedZeppelin tribute at Lincoln cen-ter. Besides, I owed him money.

Not that that’s anythingunusual because lately I feel likeI belong to the CIO-becauseeveryone I see, I owe. But wesettled up all our issues including Heart’s version of“Stairway to Heaven” andTommy bid me adieu with oneparting shot-“I’m going bowling. You wanna come.”

Well, it was only around noonand the ball games and cookoutsdidn’t start until three and Irarely play golf on holidays(Retired people have plenty ofthose.) so-what the hell, Iaccepted. With visions of myprevious alley experiences dancing in my head, I arrived todiscover that Tommy hadbooked a lane for two hours forjust the two of us. I wasreminded of a line from an oldBill Withers song about “justthe two of us” but soon I’d behumming another one of hishits-“I’m gonna need somebodyto lean on.”

The game started innocentlyenough. I got the obligatorypitcher of beer, poured a glassand…”You’re up.” Damn, I’djust sat down and Tommy hadalready thrown a strike. Iknocked down five pins with myfirst shot, four with my secondand returned to lift the Lite tomy lips when I heard the voiceagain-“Your turn.”

For three games I felt like Iwas in the Philadelphia Eagles’“hurry-up” offense as my opponent made either a strike ora spare-no open frames-and Iwas hustled back up to the laneto leave still another impossiblesplit to try and convert. Had I

been a field goal kicker my scorewould have been much higherbecause I showed an amazingability to roll the ball rightbetween the pins I was trying toknock down.

After the third game I still hadhalf of my first beer left andnone of my breath left but Iconsoled myself with the factthat surely the end must benear. That brief fantasy wasshattered when I heard Tommysay, “Good we still have anotherhour to go.”

He was still winging his 16-pound ball down the alley atwarp speed scattering pins in alldirections while I was almostreduced to a 2-hand underhand“granny” shot. For the finalgame, I did manage to wrestlean 8-pound yellow ball awayfrom a little girl in the otheralley and finished out the not-so-fruitful day with thegiant lemon.

“If you’d throw a heavier ballwith a little more speed, you’dget more pin action,” Tommyoffered.

I didn’t bother to tell himthat at that moment I couldn’thave rolled a golf ball across thepostage-stamp sized green at theold Gonzales Country Club. Ithanked him for the good timeand went looking for a heating pad.

Always the optimist, Tommyleft me with a positive note, “Atleast we bowled one perfectgame. My 202 and your 98 inthe last game gave us a perfect 300!”

Okay, so that was mildlyamusing-until I tried to get upthe next morning.

Will I ever return to bowling?Of course, I will. Just makesure we have four fun-lovingfolks on the team and a 3-gamemaximum and I’ll meet youthere.

And if you have a partner thatwants to take on Tommy andme for a small wager, we canaccommodate you on that endalso. But don’t worry-we won’t create a gambling scandallike 1841.

We’ll play for Aleve tabletsand Ben-Gay.

The Gator that had LifeAfter Death. This is a tale from a bored college student living in

South Stadium. As I was leaving baseball practice

in the spring of 1975, I spotted thedirty dusty carcas of a 4ft alligatorin the ditch next to the railroadtracks. It was in good shape. It wasn’t mashed or anything. I don’tknow how it died but he was aboutto come back to life.

I placed it in a croker sack andheaded for my dorm room on the5th floor of West Stadium. Myroommates Tom and Rick werethere and inquired, “What’s in thebag?” I flopped the carcas out of thesack and at there feet. They bothjumped back thinking that it wasalive. We had a quick laugh andpondered how many ways to usethis 4 ft. reptile. Then a singingvoice came from the room nextdoor. It was our goof friendDwight. He was from Hahnville andwas a 6ft black guy. I looked in thehall and he was walking toward theshowering room and entered thedoor. We waited until we heard thewater running and gave him enoughtime to soap-up. As we enteredDwight had statrted shampooing hishair and had his eyes closed. Nowthis was a big community showerand it was easy to sneak up. Thehard part was not laughing as Iplaced the scally skin lizard at hisfeet. I then noticed how good thegator began to look. The watercleaned and made the skin shinywhich made the gator look alive.

For several minutes we stoodthere waiting for Dwight to step injust the wrong place. It was gutbusting trying not to make a sound. Then it happened, a foot slid overand the gator’s toes curled up withDwight’s. He let out a quick screamand was rushing as fast as he couldto get the soap out of his eyes. Hewas murmering “Lordy Mercy.”With his first glance down hescreamed loud, like he was kin toBetty Davis. He then slipped andfell on top of the gator. It was onnow. I was laughing so hard. I thenlooked and Dwight was flailling hisarms like he was racing Mark Spitz

and screaming at us. I couldn’tunderstand everything he wasscreaming but words like kill anddead were used alot.

After a half hour of laughing wewere off with the serpent for morefun. As we passed the lakes byMiller Hall, we noticed a car parkedat the lake. It was an old timeImpala that did not have a barbetween front window and the back. The inhabitants were in the backseat and trust me they weren’t paying attention to 3 guys walkingup with a 4 ft. gator in their arms.We proceeded to flop our Louisianadelicacy right on top of them. Ithink Betty Davis was in that backseat because I heard that screamagain.

We drove off with sounds ofwords like kill and dead again beingyelled at us. We drove back about10 minutes later and low andbehold the car was gone and our little buddy was laying on theground.

In the sack it went and off forsome more ‘American Graffiti’ typeantics. We didn’t have to drive far tobe at the steps of one of the girlsdormatories. We snuck in the bushesby the door and slid the gator outon the concrete perfectly placed forthe good night kisses that were to come from the dating crowd.

It didn’t take long. A tall girl witha short guy walked up and she bentdown, kissed him, hugged him andopenned her eyes to the gator starring straight at her. She was tootall to be Betty but she suredscreamed like her and this short guyspun around with arms extended, hewas poised to protect her from adead alligator.

The police showed up and endedthe life of a dead alligator because if they hadn’t of halled it off, I guarantee he would have lived a fewmore tails.

Trudy of Livingston - lost 58 pounds

My weight loss experience here was wonderful! All of the staff are friendly, helpful and caring. Iachieved my goal weight by following the foodplan. I used some of their recipes and createdsome of my own, this way I didn’t get tired of eat-ing the same foods. I will continue to follow thishealthy way of eating, because it works! I wasunsure of being thin again, but thanks to Bouari,I am!

Husband’s words:I would like to thank Bouari for making a new woman outof my wife. She not only changed physically, due to theweight loss, but emotionally as well. She has a new confidence in herself, which allows her natural inner andouter beauty to resonate. Her new found look andenthusiasm has rubbed off on me and caused me to

make changes to make myself healthier. Thank youBouari for giving us a new healthy lifestyle.

Tina from Baton Rougelost 55 pounds and 33.25 inches

I’ve struggled with weight issues since 2004. I tried dieting and exercise alone and received minimalreward. This program was a topic of discussion between me and my best friend (Jackie). Prior toenrolling with Bouari (Prairieville, LA), I was diagnosed with thyroid issues, pre-diabetic and hyperten-sion, only to mention a few. Joining the Bouari family has changed my life. Yes, it was a sacrifice, buta cheerful one! Because of this sacrifice, the pharmaceutical companies have suffered a loss. I lost55 pounds and gained my health back. I’m no longer enslaved by all those prescribed medications. Inow know how to eat correctly and which foods to stay away from. The most amazing thing is that it’sall natural. “Now all eyes are one me,” I’m happy, healthy and full of energy, no longer rolling out ofthe bed with knee pain. When I joined I was expected to lose weight but the bonus was I gained afamily with support and encouragement. Join today and experience satisfaction from within and espe-cially on the outside! It’s worth the investment in yourself and your health.

William Higdon from Jenalost 42 pounds

I have tried just about everydiet that exists, and I’m surethat I have lost and gainedthe same 50 pounds at least15 or more times in my life!As a senior citizen, 69, still a viable employee in the workplace, I decided afterThanksgiving last year that itwas time to get seriousabout shedding some of theexcess baggage. BeforeChristmas, I decided to trythis “new” program.Because I live in CentralLouisiana, north of Alexandria, I called to see if it would be possible for me tosign up for the program as a “long distance” patient. I was able to begin the program and would communicate with the Clinic via U.S. Mail, email or tele-phone. I received periodic phone calls from the counselor which proved to bemost successful. After 90 days on the program, I had lost 42 pounds. I havemaintained the weight loss, and have never felt better! I made up my mind that Iwould follow the program without exception and the results paid off (and is proofthat anyone-even an older grandfather-can achieve the results desired from thisweight loss program!) The program afforded me an opportunity to lose weightwithout ever feeling deprived or hungry! It was so easy and painless! I suffer fromdiverticulitis, and the gluten-free lifestyle of eating on this program has drastically improved
