The demands of the multi-flat structures, such as livingunit blocks, where the consumers ask for constructionlevels equal to those of the individual houses, todaythey can be satisfied by the new UNICAL technologicalsolution that differentiates from the classical andautonomous centralized heating systems : the SATALmodules.

These “living unit modules” have the function ofsupplying the centralized heating in the single flats,granting the same comforts and advantages of anautonomous heating installation.

The SATALs are proposed in different versions: fromthe simple metering device, with the main purpose toseparate the consumptions, up to more completesystems, so much to be able to be considered, for theirperformances, boilers without flame.

Major assetsAll the SATAL models have been designed to answerto precise objectives required by the consumer:

Self-management:with the chrono-thermostat the regulation is the same oneof an autonomous boiler Safety:no flame and no gas in the house Consumptions under control:thanks to the counters, the consumer pays only the actualconsumption Reduced maintenance:less components, less interventions, less expenses Respect of the privacy:the installation is possible out of the living unit.

The complete series of SATAL accessories (optional)allows the planning and the consumptions andcosts control of every single living unit:

3 basic models,2 variants,endless possibilitiesThe series 2010 rotates around a new design, thatallows the standardisation of all the modules, or,more precisely, of the “fruits” and their accessoriesin a sole compact box (600x150x650 mm), completewith all the gate valves, valid both for built-in andwall mounting version and the possibility toprepare, with the same lay-out, more customizedversions.As a result w’ill get a construction simplicity anda laying/installation high speed because, first ofall, it is possible to position the box and, thanksto the gate valves fitted as standard and the onesrequested by the supplementary meteringaccessories, to test the main lines and, subsequently,when the flats are ready to be delivered, tocomplete with the specific fruits the executions,thus avoiding damages or thefts.

The box with keyclosing anddimensions600x150x650 is idealfor the built-ininstallation, but also forwall mounting. It isboth, front (on thecover) and rear,insulated withpolyester panels in tuft(FIBERFORM 62 T S -20 kg/mc density) toprevent both, surfacelosses (heat and cold)and the formation ofcondensate.

Central heating circuit with SATAL for the management of more Dwellings

Autonomy...Just as it happens in an autonomous boiler, SATAL is ableto distribute, with its own autonomous pump, or using theone of the centralized heating system, the heating andsanitary warm water, and, in the SATAL ONE and PLUS Rversions, also the cooling one. All this directly drawingfrom the feeding lines of the central system. They can beapplied on new construction buildings, in the restructuring,but also in the transformation in autonomous systems ofthe already existing centralized ones, with distribution ofhorizontal type.Advantages in modules with built-in zone pump: integral D.H.W. production by plate heat exchanger pumps of primary circuits with reduced manometric head faster and more precise putting in steady state conditionof the living unit installation.

Advantages in modules without built-in zone pump: simpler circuits reduced costs.

... with all the benefits of the centralizedheating systemAn autonomous/centralised heating system: this is whatit is got with SATAL.With the same advantages of just one boiler in the boilerhouse:

Simply meteringThe first demand of the consumer is the one to be able toknow and to manage his own heating expenses, in autonomyand safety, also when the heating system is of centralizedtype.

SATAL ONE hotcold resolves in simple way the meteringrequest for single individual living unit.

SATAL ONE hotcold is constituted by a “fruit”, that can beordered also later on, able to distribute and meter the waterused for winter heating and/or the summer air conditioning.

offer comfort and energy saving in every living unit andin a way completely independent from the regulationof boiler house.Both models are born with the objective to manage inthe same box several zones at different temperature:

2 zones for SATAL PLUS R hotcold

1 x high temperature zone (radiators/fan-coils)1 x low temperature zone (floor heating)

3 zones for SATAL PLUS R 3Zones-Ice

2 x high temperature zones1 x low temperature zone.

The low temperature is obtained with electronic modulatingthermo-controller and external compensation (optional)that modulates temperature and water flow rate througha step-by-step motorized valve. The integral pump providesto feed the floor heating circuit with low temperature. Thesame module can also work in “2 pipes type” summerconditioning installations.

Major asset is the step-by-step mixing valve used for:

Adjusting the right water temperature to be sent to theheating circuit depending on the request determinedby the modulating room thermostat and/or by the outertemperature sensor.

Adjusting the temperature of the domestic hot waterpreset by the consumer on the modulating thermostat.

Highly resistant and reliable, the mixing valve is constitutedby a worm gears actuator, practically insensitive to thepressure variations. In stand-by position it is normallyclosed, thus preventing inopportune blow-by.Besides it is particularly silent, because it uses a conicobturator with “caged” shaft that, further to prevent thevibration in presence of high pressures, facilitates theopening and closing operations.

Local pump: it exploits the function of “pump” in theheating circuit of the served living unit. Furthermore apossible high temperature detachment is also present,derived before the pump, that can be used for heatinga bath room radiator (if the main circuit is of lowtemperature floor heating type), that uses the pump ofthe primary circuit. The "Y" shaped filter retains theimpurities of the heating circuit preserving the meteringelements.

Complete heatSATAL plus C can be considered a “combi boiler” withoutgas and without flame.In fact, it manages the heating in modulation (to get thereduction of the consumptions) with the possibility tohave, already included in the standard box, also the doubletemperature (high/low) and the instantaneous productionof domestic hot water. The system, besides, meters theconsumptions depending on the use of every singleconsumer.

Two available versions:SATAL PLUS C that manages 2 zones1 x high temperature (radiators/fan-coils)1 x low temperature (floor heating)

SATAL PLUS C 3Zones that manages 3 zones2 x high temperature1 x low temperature.

Excellent functionsThe diverting valve allows that the water, taken from thecentralized system, is “pushed”, via the pump, in theapartment circuit or in the plate type heat exchanger,while the special 3 way modulating and motorized valve,with step-by-step regulation, calibrates its temperaturewith a precision of a tenth of degree. The electronic PCB,with microprocessor, via the aid of the modulatingchrono-thermostat, controls its operation. When a D.H.W.tap is opened the flow-switch makes the diverting valvecommutating the flow to the excellent 22 stainless steelplate, brazed, oversized heat exchanger, able to exchange24 kW or more, starting from a system minimumtemperature of 60°C. The water temperature can beadjusted according to the wish of the user through thespecial menu of the modulating chrono-thermostat. Afurther optional hydraulic fitting allows the connectionto the domestic cold water and the relevant metering.

Priority diverting valve used for:

Diverting the water flow to the D.H.W. plate heatexchanger, depending on the request of the priority flowswitch.

Allowing the flow to the heating system, depending onthe request of the modulating room thermostat/outertemperature sensor.

Its position is normally open to the D.H.W. production(thus eliminating unwished flows to the heating systemthrough narrow passages). The commutation happensonly when the local pump is Off.

Local pump: It promotes the water circulation through the plate heatexchanger (primary circuit side) in order to produce thecounter-current flow for the domestic hot water production.

It exploits the function of “pump” in the heating circuitof the served living unit.

Besides, there is also the possibility of a detachment athigh temperature, derived before the pump, that can be

Energy counter with M-Bus communication and infrared (according to EN1434and to MID Metrological Instrument Directive 2004/22/CE), that allows the monitoring,in a constant way, the energy used for the climatization (both, in winter and summer)of the apartment. It is equipped with M-Bus inlet for two liter-counters.

The heat units or cold energy meter is the fundamental tool for the control of theconsumptions: keeping into consideration the temperature difference between theinlet and outlet and of the total water volume flowed out, it is able to calculate andto display the energy actually used by the consumer.The electronics furthermore, shows on the LCD:

Environment protection

All the models SATAL PLUS R and SATAL PLUS C, can be equippedwith modulating chrono-thermostats and outer temperature sensor;this one, placed to the outside of the living unit, accelerates theanswer of the heating system to the actual weather variations.This guarantees considerable advantages: Smaller expense for the consumer Consumptions reduction and fast costs recovery Reduction of the environmental pollution due to smaller CO2production.

Contrarily to other similar products, the use of SATAL is still moreadvantageous with condensing boilers.The step-by-step regulation system, combined with modulatingthermostats and possible outer temperature sensor (optional),programs the right quantity of heat at the optimal temperaturenecessary to the heating.Besides, the chrono-thermostats select the lowest possibletemperatures depending on the system used (floor heating, radiators,fan-coils or other) favoring the lowering of the return temperatureinto the boiler: very important factor to get the condensationphenomenon.

The model SATAL ONEhotcold can be equipped with theREGOLAFACILE ON-OFF (cod. 00262605).

Consumptions control To guarantee the consumer and the energy supplier the followingconsumption meters are available:

- counters with unique throw- magnetic transmission and outlet of

pulses throwing- reading on 8 numbering rolls

- homologation according to EEC 75/33in metrological class B

- self-aligning turbine (protection fromsediments).

Warm water counters Cold water countersFor domestic use, practical and of immediate reading:

- total volume flowed out- inlet and outlet water temperature and

relevant ∆T;- instantaneous water flow rate and

thermal output;- reading of the consumption of the

previous 15 months- informations on possible anomalies.
