All Saints’ Academy Class of 2013

I am extremely proud of the results achieved in 2013. I knew it would take over a year to get ASA up to the high fi gures that I know our students can achieve so I looked for-ward to the results in 2013 with great anticipation. We had our target but I knew that we had put so much hard work in that we could smash our target (47%) and of course we did with gaining 53% 5+ A* to C Grades including English & Maths at GCSE. Our results were absolutely amazing, wonderful and fantastic. In fact words cannot describe the TREMENDOUS success! How did we do it? Hard work by staff and students – everyone worked really hard and went more than the extra mile. A belief that we could do it and having high expectations. Students working hard and wanting to achieve. High quality good teaching. Parent support. This is only the start! This is only the start of the rise of ASA! We expect next year results to be even bet-ter. Of course each cohort of students is different and at ASA we treat everyone as an individual but we know with high quality teaching & learning comes higher results! Well done EVERYONE!

I am really delighted to be able to publicly congratulate our Y11 stu-dents who achieved massive success in the GCSE examinations this summer. Having only been opened for two years, the students and staff have created a vibrant Academy which enables students to achieve and, in many cases, surpass their targets. To achieve 53% of students with 5+ A*-C GCSEs including English and Maths is testament to the positive work ethic all year. Our Y11 Students started September 2012 in a positive mood – examinations in November, March, May and June were only the key dates to aim for. In between these months was high at-tendance in every lesson; attendance at different revision classes throughout the week and attend-ance during every holiday: half-terms and terms, preparing themselves for the exams to come. Congratulations also go to the staff who taught Y11s in the many different subjects and to the Tutors and Associate Tutors who nagged, guided and reminded the students about deadlines and coursework/homework to be handed in. Without the team effort of staff and the continued support of parents, our students may have lost confi dence or lacked focus. Particular thanks go to a team of colleagues who met with Y11s regularly and ensured the stu-dents knew what was coming up in terms of coursework deadlines and examinations: Mrs Atkins, Mrs Goodwin, Miss Holland and Miss Wife were the beacons of support. Alongside this team were all the Heads of Departments who pushed their subject teams to only accept the best work. There were individual successes, by the students, but not only in terms of A*-Cs; those stu-dents who achieved D-G grades often produced many levels of progress on top of expectations. Altogether a fantastic year – showing that perseverance, determination and commit-ment really do pay off in the end. “Never say Never” and always strive to be better than you think you are. The year was never easy: hard work and 100% focus everyday can be tiring ... but worth the rewards at the end! We look forward to their success in the Sixth Form and will toast AS and A2 level grades over the next two years.

SO PROUD!

Mr KinghamPrincipal

Don’t believe itSo, schools get better results and the politicians say its due to early entry and the type of exams! Rubbish! Don’t believe it.How about:1. The hard work of students.2. The parents and carers who encourage their children to their best and support.3. The high quality teachers.4. The extra teaching sessions staff put in.5. The maths coaches that supported students.6. The extra in house preparation staff put in.

Year 13We are very pleased with the fi rst A Level results for All Saints’ Academy. 93% of our students passed their A-Levels (or equivalent examinations) with 41% of the students achieving the high level A* - B grades. This is a great success for our students and shows how hard they worked and how well they were taught by the staff of All Saints’ Academy. All Saints’ Academy was particularly success-ful with the Advanced BTEC subjects.

•A-E grades (Pass and above) = 100% (National Average = 100%)•A-C grades (Merit and above) = 85% (National Average for these subjects = 67%)•A-B grades (Distinctions and Distinc-tions*) = 74% (National Average for these subjects = 40%)

Half of the Year students applied to go to university and 88 % of those stu-dents have been given places, most of them at their chosen university.

Year 12Year 12 AS results were pleasing with 76% achieving A*-E grades. This was a great improvement on the 2012 fi g-

ure of 50%. Students are per-forming very well with their Advanced BTEC subjects. We are expecting all to pass and 61 % to achieve Merits and above (A*-C grades) and 41% Distinctions and Dis-tinctions* (A*-B grades).

The numbers add up for class of 2013 in Maths GCSE exams!ASA students enjoyed a record breaking year in maths as well as their other subjects this Summer. 57% of all students achieved a grade A*-C, that which the government considers to be a “good pass”. This is a huge improvement on the previous year – up from 40% -with many more students narrowly missing that benchmark. ASA offered extensive support to our students both in and out of lessons to help this to happen, however, the real credit is saved for the stu-dents for the sheer hard work theyput in to achieving this success. It’s been a real team effort and a great source of inspiration for next years ASA students. Amongst the successes I have selected a number of students who made exceptional progress during the fi ve years in maths, since leaving primary school. They are: Paulina Polec, Pawel Lomzik, Leonie Jenkins, Nick Da-vis, Natalia Kroliczak, Claire Hannis, Piotr Jakubowicz, Adrian Gromek, Amy Turner and Erin Mason. Well done to you all for your deserved rewards!Mr Wilkinson, Head of Maths, Assistant Principal.

The vast majority of science students worked really hard to improve their work throughout the year and attended revi-sion sessions. There were some amazing individual performances, including: Grace Etheredge, Adri-an Gromek, Jon Hopson and Danielle Screen.

English We are overjoyed with our best ever re-sults. It was delightful to see so many students reaping the rewards of their hard work. Grace Etheredge did spec-tacularly well with A* in English Language and English Literature.Mr Nicklin, Head of English, Assistant Principal

The results in BTEC this year have surpassed expectations – we got a pass rate of 100%. That is all down to hard work from students to catch up and fi nish off work and also teachers who kept students on track and up to date. There were some students that found it very diffi cult to achieve their pass and had some diffi cult personal circum-stances. However, they persevered and gained their qualifi cation. We also had over 15 “merit” level passes that are the equivalent to a B grade at GCSE. Well done all!Mrs Cain, Head of Science, Assistant Principal
