Working with the ASA® My Learning App

Overview This user manual will take users through the steps from logging in to the ASA My Learning app to claiming CME credit for ACE 2015 and SEE 2015 programs. This guide is broken into sub-tasks based on the different sections of the app.

Important Notes Concerning the App Usage

ACE

• Only the ACE electronic version is available via the app (not the booklet version). • Once a question has been submitted, you cannot change the answer on the app.

o Answers can only be changed in the Education Center (LMS). See “How to change ACE Answers” on page 14.

• Passing Grade is 100%. • All activities must be synced to the Education Center in order to view your activity in the

LMS. See “Syncing to the Education Center” on page 13. • If you select “Reset Current Attempt” in the self-study learning activity, all data is lost and

you must re-enter ALL answers. • Once the self-study learning activity is complete, you can only review your responses in

the Education Center (LMS) after syncing. Reviewing a previous submission is not available on the app.

SEE • Only the SEE electronic version is available via the app (not the booklet version). • Once a question has been submitted, you cannot change the answer. • Passing Grade is 50%. • All activities must be synced to the Education Center in order to view your activity in the

LMS. See “Syncing to the Education Center” on page 13. • If you select “Reset Current Attempt” in the self-study learning activity, all data is lost and

you must re-enter ALL answers. • Once the self-study learning activity is complete, you can only review your responses in

the Education Center (LMS) after syncing. Reviewing a previous submission is not available on the app.

Obtaining and Logging into the App Step Action/Example

1 Go to the Apple Store (iPhone 5 & 6/iPad) or Google Play (Android with screens 5.5 inches or greater).

2 Search for “ASA My Learning.”

3 Install then Open the App.

4 Enter your email on file with ASA.

5 Enter your password on file with ASA.

6 Select “Sign In.” NOTE: If you forgot your password, you can only reset it on the ASA Education Center. https://www.asahq.org/member-center/forgot-password

Registering the Device Step Action/Example

1 You will be asked to name and register your device. NOTE: Since you can use your app on multiple iOS and Android devices, in addition to the Web version, device names will allow synchronization among multiple devices.

2 Select “Let’s do it!”

Downloading/Accessing a Course

NOTE: If you are starting the course on the app, you may complete it on the app, or you may continue the course on the Web via your laptop/desktop computer (See “Syncing to the Education Center,” Page 13).

Step Action/Example

1 Select the download icon next to the desired course to download to the device.

2 The course will display the progress.

3 When the download is complete, a gear icon appears next to the course.

4 To access the course, select the course name.

Course Layout This is an entire course layout. You will need to scroll up/down to view the different areas of the page on your device. Step Action/Example

1 Select “CME information” to view content. NOTE: Information in this section includes target audience, learning objectives, release/expiration date, accreditation, and disclaimer.

2 Select any brown booklet icon to view the information within the specific section.

3 Select “Self-Study learning activity” to access the course quiz.

4 Select “Course Evaluation” to complete the course evaluation. NOTE: This area cannot be accessed until the quiz is successfully completed.

5 Select “CME Certificate” to claim your CME credit. NOTE: This area cannot be accessed until the quiz and course evaluation are successfully completed.

Self-Study Learning Activity Layout

Step Action/Example

1 “Take Quiz” starts the quiz.

2 “Quiz Options” allow you to filter questions based on desired criteria.

3 “Reset Current Attempt” WARNING: This completely resets the quiz and all data will be lost. The user will have to re-submit ALL answers again.

Taking the Quiz

Step Action/Example 1 To begin the quiz, select

“Take Quiz.”

2 After selecting “Take Quiz,” choose the question to begin answering the quiz questions.

Question Menu Bar

A Return Go back to the previous screen.

B Discussion Shows the discussion for the question selected.

C Notes Allows the user to take notes on the question (viewable in quiz options).

D Flag Flags a question (viewable in quiz options).

E ? Brings up a list of feedback marks related to the questions.

Taking the Quiz (continued) Step Action/Example

3 Select the desired answer. NOTE: The answer you selected is highlighted yellow.

4 Select “Submit.” WARNING: Once you select “Submit” you cannot change your answer in the app.

5 Incorrect answers are highlighted RED. NOTE: Right and wrong answers are not displayed on the same screen.

6 Correct answers are highlighted GREEN. NOTE: Right and wrong answers are not displayed on the same screen.

7 Select “Feedback” to view question information or “Next” to go to the next question.

8 If “Feedback” was selected: Select “Back to Question” (on the bottom of the feedback) to return to the quiz.

Completing the Quiz

Step Action/Example 1 Select the return arrow in the

top-left corner when the quiz is complete.

2 Review questions by selecting the question.

3 Select the return arrow when the review is complete.

4 Select the return arrow when review of the summary is complete.

Completing the Evaluation and Claiming CME Credit You can complete the course evaluation and claim CME credit from the app. You can also claim CME on the Education Center, but you must sync the course to the Education Center first.

Step Action/Example

1 Select “Course Evaluation” to complete the course evaluation.

NOTE: This must be complete prior to claiming CME credit.

2 Select “CME Certificate” to claim CME credit. NOTE: The CME Certificate is available for printing via the Education Center under “My Transcript” or within each course under CME certificate.

Syncing to the Education Center Step Action/Example

1 NOTE: You can begin the synching process from any screen. To sync, select the return button until you reach the main screen.

2 Select the gear icon next to the course name.

3 Select “Sync with Education Center.”

4 Sync is complete when the gear icon is no longer visible.

How to Change ACE Answers If you select an incorrect answer on the app, the only way to change your answer is to sync with the Education Center, change your answer, then re-download the course to the app.

NOTE: If you reach question 100, this signifies that the quiz is complete and you will NOT be able to change answers for this attempt. Step Action/Example

1 Note question marked incorrect.

2 Sync to the Education Center (see page 13).

3 In the Education Center, select “Continue the last attempt.”

4 Go to the incorrect question, change the answer, and select “Check.”

NOTE: If the quiz was done on the app, the “Quiz Navigation” will not indicate question completion until the entire activity is completed.

5 On the app, re-download the course and continue answering the questions.
