Dear journalists, Welcome to the 2016 adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship! We already supported the inaugural Sickline race in 2006, a kayak competition on the legendary Wellerbrücke rapids. We liked the concept so much that we sat down with Olaf Obsommer and Planet Talk after the event to discuss how we can further develop this great sport and display it in a bigger and more media potent manner. This is how the idea of the Extreme Kayak World Championship was born – an international battle of the best whitewater kayakers in the world. For decades, the kayak sport has been close to adidas’ heart. In the seventies, we introduced our first kayak shoe. Today we support an entire extreme kayak team with twelve top athletes from nine different countries. Whitewater kayaking has come a long way. The level has been stepped up immensely. With the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship we wanted to create a new platform for athletes to present this fascinating sport to the world. This year, the event will once again be broadcasted LIVE by several TV stations all over Europe. Kayak enthusiasts around the world can also follow the race live on eversport.tv. I think we are on the right track. Kind regards,

Axel Burkhardt adidas Global Sports Marketing Director Outdoor

3. Press Release 6 - 8 October 2016 9th adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship in Oetz

Oetz (sgh) – For the ninth time in a row, 175 of the world’s best whitewater kayakers from 29 different countries, including 26 women, meet in Austria’s Ötztal between the 6th and 8th of October to determine the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Champion on the legendary “Wellerbrücke“ rapids. A “sick line” is the perfect, smoothest and fastest line downriver. That’s what the competitors have to find when racing the so-called “Wellerbrücke” rapids, a famous section of the glacier-fed Ötztaler Ache River, peppered with loads of natural obstacles. The course has the reputation of being the Eiger Northwall of whitewater kayaking, thus it offers the perfect setting to crown the World Champion in extreme kayak racing. The Wellerbrücke rapids are solid class 5 whitewater, both technically difficult and dangerous. The well-known rapids on the course have illustrious names like “TNT Cataract”, “Champions Killer” or “Champions Killer Minus 1”. They are both feared and endeared by extreme kayakers, all of whom respect the river as much as they want to conquer it. Any mistakes paddlers may make have high consequences. Therefore the field of international kayakers is filtered down in two qualification runs to determine the best extreme paddlers who then compete in the actual World Championship race. „Some of the whitewater paddlers who participate in this World Championship run much higher waterfalls and even more extreme rivers during their expeditions around the world. But they do this maybe once in their life and time doesn’t matter”, explains Axel Burkhardt, Director adidas Global Sports Marketing Outdoor. “The adidas Sickline tests the kayakers’ ability to not only get down one of the world’s most challenging rapids in one piece, but to do this fast as well. The 280-metre long racecourse demands everything in terms of skill and fitness from the athletes, meaning they have to retrieve their full potential to the point, run after run. They cannot afford the slightest mistake and they must be extremely fit, because the cruxes are located at the end of the course.” Last year, 27-year old Gerd Serrasolses from Sort in Spain outpaddled a field of the world’s finest kayakers, claiming his first and well deserved adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Champion title, ahead of David Bain from Great Britain and triple World Champion Sam Sutton from New Zealand. Serrasolses was the hot favourite throughout weekend after putting in the fastest runs in the qualification, the quarter- and semifinal, but he saved his best performance for last, clocking 55.34 seconds in his final run – the fastest race time of the day and a new course record.

With a record field of 25 women at the start, the five fastest ladies after the knockout semifinal round competed for the first time for world championship honours on the Wellerbrücke rapids. 35-year old powerhouse Mariann Saether from Norway secured her title with a winning time of 1:03.49 ahead of Great Britain’s Jennifer Chrimes and Alona Buslaieva from the Ukraine. The Who’s Who in Kayaking In addition to the world’s best whitewater kayakers, the adidas Sickline World Championship attracts many outstanding slalom and freestyle paddlers. On the infamous Wellerbrücke rapids they can combine their technique and physical fitness with adrenaline. This is why the start list reads like the who’s who in kayaking: Dane Jackson (USA), triple Whitewater Grand Prix victor (2011-2014), overall Freestyle World Cup winner 2014, Freestyle World Champion 2013/2015, 14 time National Champion; Sam Sutton (NZL), triple Extreme Kayak World Champion (2010-2012) and bronze medallist in 2015; Gerd Serrasolses (ESP), Extreme Kayak World Champion 2015, 1st Little White Salmon 2015, 1st North Fork Championship 2015, 1st King of Asia 2015; Joe Morley (GBR), double Extreme Kayak World Champion (2013/2014); Nick Troutman (CAN), Freestyle World Champion 2009 & bronze medallist Freestyle World Championship 2015; Fabian Dörfler (GER), multiple Slalom World Cup Champion, World and European Champion as well as Team World Champion 2010; Peter Czonka (SVK), silver medallist Freestyle World Championships 2011/2013; Freestyle European Champion 2010/2014; Joel Kowalski (CAN), 3rd Whitewater Grand Prix 2014 und 8th Freestyle World Championships 2015; Egor Voskoboynikov (RUS), adidas Sickline bronze medallist 2013, 1st King of Asia (2011-2013), 1st King of Alps 2015; Hannes Aigner (GER), bronze medallist Olympic Games 2012, 4th Olympic Games 2016 (slalom); Eric Deguil (FRA), winner of the AWP World Series 2011/2012/2014; Pangal Andrade (CHI), 1st North Fork Down River Race 2014; Matthieu Dumoulin (FRA), runner-up Freestyle World Championships 2015, bronze medallist Freestyle European Championships 2010; Isaac Levinson (USA), 1st Green Race 2014; Alexander Grimm (GER), Olympic Champion 2008 and Extreme Kayak World Champion 2009; Paul Böckelmann (GER), bronze medallist adidas Sickline 2011, silver medallist European Slalom Championship 2012; Lukas Kalkbrenner (GER), adidas Sickline bronze medallist 2010, to just name a few. The reigning female Extreme Kayak World Champion, Mariann Saether (NOR), and Nouria Newman (FRA), double adidas Sickline Queen and silver medallist at the 2013 Slalom World Champion, are the favourites in the women’s field. Only the best advance to the next round The top 52 men and Top 8 women compete in a so-called ‚head-to-head’ format or knockout system, i.e. the fastest of the qualification battles the 52nd, the second fastest competes against the 51st and so on. The order of the respective heats is based on a classic tournament ladder. The faster kayaker of each heat advances to next round, together with two ‘lucky losers’ (the two fastest of the eliminated top 52 athletes). The top 28 compete once again in a knockout system. The 14 victorious athletes and two more ‘lucky losers’ then advance to the super final where they

9!

compete for world championship honours. In the women’s final, the Top 5 paddlers battle it out for the title. Athletes at the event concur that the adidas Sickline WCH is unique as the best athletes of many different kayaking disciplines – freestyle and slalom world champions, extreme kayakers and river expedition paddlers – come together in a race situation. The head-to-head format makes competition fair and extremely close. Any one of the finalists has the chance and the ability to earn a spot on the podium. Safety first For safety reasons, public authorities have officially closed the Wellerbrücke rapids year-round. The section is only open for the adidas Sickline World Championship. To ensure the highest possible safety for the competitors, the organisers run an extensive safety operation. Water rescue services, mountain rescue services, and the Austrian Red Cross work hand in hand with the event-own “Swiftwater Rescue” team. “The riverbanks are virtually littered with extremely qualified safety staff that use innovative life-saving tools, like ropeways, and turn the Wellerbrücke rapids – at least for one weekend – into the safest rapid in the world”, says Event Director Mike Hamel. “The athletes are pushing the physical and mental limits in this race. We want them to focus on their run rather than having to think about what will happen when they end up swimming in 6-degree cold water.” All-around service for athletes Before and after the competition, the adidas Sickline participants are truly pampered. Throughout the race weekend athletes can enjoy free physiotherapy and massages at the adidas Reload Center in the Expo Area. Former Canoe World Champion and butcher Uli Knittel caters for the physical well-being with his sumptuous dinner buffets and the hearty “Jackson Kayak” lunch. Film producer Olaf Obsommer and other kayak celebrities present their latest movies at the Big-O Movie Night. And for all those who just can’t get enough, DJ Chainsaw is rocking the crowds at the legendary adidas Sickline Champions Party at Jay’s Cantina in Oetz. GoPro generates spectacular footage from athletes’ perspective GoPro Inc., the manufacturer of small wearable and gear-mountable water- and shockproof POV cameras that are distributed in over 100 countries worldwide, is once again on board as official camera partner of the event. GoPro equips all finalists with a GoPro SESSION® helmet camera to generate new spectacular images of the World Championship race from the perspective of the competing athlete. Livestream on eversport.tv The final of the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship is broadcasted live in several countries. Kayaking fans around the globe can also watch the race live online on eversport.tv. As in previous years, kayaking legend Ben Brown (NZL) will commentate the livestream.

to (A) The qualification is carried out in 2 runs. The qualification runs are split into 2 groups, group 1 bibs: 1-70 + SICKLINER Club + Women by start list, group 2 bibs: 71-150. Qualification run 1: all participants are permitted to race Qualification run 2: all participants are permitted to race to (B) Quarterfinal: to determine the result, both qualification runs are added to one total time. The quarterfinal is carried out in a “head-to-head-format“. Two kayakers form one heat (pairing). While competing both kayakers are alone on the course and the time of each kayakers is measured. The faster kayaker of each heat advances to next round (semifinal) together with two “lucky losers”, i.e. the two fastest paddlers of the 26 “eliminated” athletes, who lost their heat. Hence 28 kayakers advance to the semifinal. to (C) Semifinal: in the semifinal, the top 28 compete once again in a “head-to-head” mode (14 heats). The winner of the quarterfinal heat 1 competes against the winner of quarterfinal heat 2, the winner of the quarterfinal heat 3 races against the winner of the quarterfinal heat 4 etc. While competing, both kayakers are alone on the course and the time of both kayakers is measured. The faster kayaker of each heat advances to next round (final) together with two “lucky losers”, i.e. the two fastest paddlers of the 14 “eliminated” athletes, who lost their heat. Hence 16 kayakers advance to the final. to (D) Final: in the final 16 kayakers compete in a single race (14 winners of heat 27-40 and 2 “lucky losers”). The finalists will start in reverse order; meaning the kayaker with the slowest race time of the semifinal (16th) will be the first to start. The athlete with the fastest time climbs into the hot seat whirlpool and stays there until his time has been beaten. The fastest athlete of the final is the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Champion. Participants are informed on the specific training, qualification and final times during the mandatory Race Briefing.

Participants are informed on the specific training, qualification and final times or changes in the rules during the mandatory Race Briefing. 4.3.3.4 Timing Timing is carried out by two light barriers. Once the participant activates the first light barrier at the start the timing starts. The second light barrier is mounted at the finish line. Once the participant crosses the second light barrier the finish time is triggered. The competitor must pass the two light barriers sitting upright. The participant may not throw the paddle to break the finish light barrier. This would be a reason for immediate disqualification. The race timing is also measured manually as a backup. 4.3.3.5 Results All results are displayed on the official result board. Only result lists signed by the Race Jury are valid. To determine the total result the following scheme is applied: WCH MEN Place 1 - 16 result final. Place 17 – 28 result semifinal. Place 29 – 52 result quarterfinal. Place 53 – 150 result qualification. WCH WOMEN Place 1 - 5 result final. Place 6 – 8 result semifinal. Place 9 – 20+ result qualification. In case of no separate World Championship category for women, there will still be a separate result list for women. The fastest woman holds the title "The adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak Queen" and is honored with an award ceremony in the evening. The WCH flower ceremony for the top 3 men and women is held immediately after the men’s final to be featured live on TV. The official award ceremonies take place in the evening. In case of unexcused absence, the winners lose their claim for prize money. 4.3.3.6 Protest Any protest must be submitted to the race organizer within 15 minutes after the end of each run. The protest is discussed by the Race Jury. In case of a protest, a fee of €100 is charged and is only returned, if the protest is granted. 4.3.4 Course All participants must compete a mandatory run within the scope of the official training prior to qualification on Friday. The same applies for participants on the final race course. Participation in the two mandatory runs is documented by the Race Jury. In case of absence the competitor is automatically disqualified.

The qualification and final race course are presented in detail during the Race Briefing. There the course, start and finish are defined precisely. The qualification and final race course may vary based on the water level. Running the Wellerbrücke rapids outside official training and qualification times is legally prohibited. The organizer does not assume liability and responsibility for the participants, who defy this prohibition. Qualification race course The qualification course starts at the eddy, river right, around 8m above the 3m-exit-drop of the Wellerbrücke, called "The Champions Killer". The finish is at the put-in of the slalom course near the wooden steps towards the river. The degree of difficulty of the qualification course is class 4, the “Champions Killer” and the rest of the course is class 3. The course has a total length of about 270m. Final race course The “Wellerbrücke“ rapids rank among the most difficult white water courses in the world. Thus they are called “the Eiger Northwall” of white water kayaking. The adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship takes place on a 280m-long course. The competitors have to master a gradient of 10%. Degrees of difficulty ranges between class 5 (extremely difficult) and class 6 (only runnable under ideal circumstances) according to the international white water standard from class 1 to class 6. Main difficulties 1. “Seal launch” 6m-rock-drop 2. “Entry falls”, entry cataract, 3m gradient 3. “Mandatory Line”, 3m gradient, entry cataract to core section 4. “TNT Rapid”, 5m gradient, core section with an S-turn 5. “The Champions Killer”, 3m exit drop 4.3.5 Safety In cooperation with local authorities, safety organizations and an event-own safety team the organizer has created a first class safety and rescue operation for the event. A special safety concept created by an official safety commissary manages particulars. Therefore a high safety standard is guaranteed. Furthermore a safety commission is appointed for the event, which manages safety issues during the event on land and water. It consists of the following persons: - Safety Commission President - Race Director - Event Director - Safety Director - Water Rescue - Mountain Rescue - Athletes Representative

Page 19: aS2016 Media Guide ENG-email.pdf

18!

The saftey commission decides unanimously on the execution of the event. The water level of the Ötztaler Ache River at Tumpen is decisive for the execution of the race. The water levels are measured online and on site and documented in a report, which has to be signed by the members of the safety commission. !4.4 Prize Money* World Championship Men / Women 1st Place 3,000 € 2nd Place 1,500 € 3rd Place 1,000 €

5. Side Events Kayak enthusiasts who don’t feel fit enough to participate in the Extreme Kayak World Championship can still enjoy the event as companion. On Friday evening they can watch some of the most recent kayak films at the Big-O Movie Night. On Saturday, the focus will be on the finals at Wellerbrücke when the top 52 kayakers compete for world championship honours. Last but not least kayaking fans can enjoy the legendary Champions Party on Saturday evening with DJ Chainsaw. The party takes place at Jay’s Cantina in Oetz. Expo Area Whether athletes want to enjoy a free massage or physical treatment at the adidas Reload Center, buy some adidas Sickline merchandise, enjoy a freshly ERDINGER non-alcoholic beer, a RedBull or grab a soup at the complimentary Jackson Kayak athlete lunch, the Expo Area is the place to go. It is located close to the race venue at Wellerbrücke. Please note that refreshments are only given out at the Expo Area and not along the river. We decided to create an eco-friendly environment by limiting the chances for littering. Big-O Movie Night Participants of the ninth edition of the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship can once again look forward to the popular Big-O Movie Night. This year the kayak movie screening takes place on Friday, 7 October between 20h30 and 23h00 at Saal EZ in Oetz. Award Ceremony The official award ceremony takes place on Saturday evening, 8 October 2016, right after the athletes’ dinner at 20h00 at Saal EZ in Oetz. Champions Party with DJ Chainsaw This year the legendary adidas Sickline Champions Party once again takes place at Jay’s Cantina close to the Expo Area in Oetz. Even if kayakers don’t really need to be stimulated to have a good time, with DJ Chainsaw a great party with your kayak buddies from around the world is guaranteed. Chainsaw will rock the house for all those who just can’t get enough, even after a long day of racing. Spectators For safety reasons local authorities limit the number of spectators along the course to 500 people, which is why the organisers charge admission on the final race day. Tickets are 5 Euros and can be purchased at the entrance. Accredited journalists do not have to pay any admission, of course.

6. The Ötztaler Ache River “Wellerbrücke” section – The Eiger Northwall of whitewater sports There are a couple of whitewater rivers in the Alps, which are known from its myth. Their mere names let kayakers shiver in reverence. So it’s quite natural that at least 90% of all kayakers have already heard of the “Wellerbrücke” section of the River Oetz. Many of them have had the opportunity to take a look at it. But only a few kayakers have ever put in their kayaks at the bridge of Habichen, below the infamous Ach falls. A long, long time ago, a huge mountain slide blocked the Oetz valley forming a lake. When this lake overflowed it lead to a series of cataracts, the so-called Ach falls. In former times, these falls only were traffic obstacles on the way to the upper valley. But with rising tourism they became sights. A hiking trail and a bridge-walk, the so-called “Wellerbrücke”, were built. Then, at some stage, the first whitewater kayakers came to have a closer look at the “Wellerbrücke” section. Since its first descent in 1976 the “Wellerbrücke” saw numerous runs at all kinds of water levels. And despite of a lot of changes due to floods it has remained one of the outstanding challenges in alpine kayaking. At the beginning, the river flows quite calmly along but around the first corner the heat is on: all of a sudden, the gradient rises enormously. The following section seems to be a wild stairway with one drop after the other between one and three meters. At the end of this part you should turn right into a sideline. Otherwise you bomb right into the core rapid. Text: Nils Kagel, www.soulboater.com “Wellerbrücke” section Put in: road bridge Habichen Take out: entrance lower Oetz Distance: 2km Difficulties: WW V-VI Flow Conditions The Ötztaler Ache is a truly massive glacier river; therefore the difficult parts of the “Wellerbrücke” course depend extremely on the water level; at a low gauge one considers oneself to be on a Corsican pool ’n drop-like creek (WW V); at medium gauge it gets sportier and with a high water level the “Wellerbrücke” turns into a roaring cascade with few pulsating eddies (WW VI). The individual parts of the river Ötztaler Ache The grades of difficulty are indicative values and depend strongly on the rate of flow; the grading of the river is based on an average rate of flow. Lower Oetz (Oetz village to river Inn) WW IV – V (X) very difficult, slope 14‰, 7,5 km; rafts can also navigate the most frequented portion of the river; demanding WW stretch with very high water power and frequent stoppers; very long swells, moderate boulders and few eddies; an unridable weir Brunnau requires a very difficult landing manoeuvre at the bank of the river; DANGER TO LIFE; inspection strongly recommended! Middle Oetz (Längenfeld/ Au to Oetz-village) WW IV – V (X), IV exceedingly difficult to unnavigable, slope 50 ‰, 13 km, extremely difficult to unnavigable WW stretch with very high slope, big boulders, enormous water power. Long swells, many stoppers with strong reverse-flow, very high velocity of flow, few eddies. The so-called Achstürze-falls near Tumpen are absolutely unridable, while the “Wellerbrücken-part” can be navigated only at extremely low water, WW IV. DANGER TO LIFE! (most difficult part of the river). Under no circumstances can the river be navigated belong the toad-bridge near the water gauge at Tumpen. Previous inspection absolutely essential! No rafting! Upper Oetz (Zwiselstein – Längenfeld/ Au) WW V – VI (X), V – III extremely difficult, partly unnavigable, slope 30 – 10‰, 18 km. Kühtrain Gorge, WW V – VI, (X) 3,5 km, slope 32 ‰; deep gorge with extreme slope; very high falls; extremely narrow passages between boulders and often impeded by fallen trees; extremely difficult WW with unnavigable passages; can be navigated only by specialists at extremely low water. Sölden Gorge, WW IV – V, III, 4 km, slope 22 – 10 ‰ Water gorge partially with big boulders; increasing waterpower; long rapids; inspection absolutely essential! Huben – Längenfeld/ Au, WW I – II, 10 km, slope 10 ‰; open river stretch with embankments on both sides along most of the way; at very high rates of flow hardly any eddies; easiest part of the entire river; no rafting!

7. Ötztal – Calm Waters & Wild Waters Water is the element that provokes emotions in all people. This summer, the Ötztal Valley has dedicated an entire range of activities to the wet element. Six new water hiking routes revolve around this theme. Two of the splendid "Water Strider Trails" already received the coveted "Premium Trail" quality seal by the official German Hiking Institute. Therefore the Ötztal Valley is the first region in Austria being awarded with this renowned quality seal, offering two scenic hiking routes which meet all required quality criteria defined by the German Hiking Institute – such as a high level of nature experience, easy accessibility, comfortable trail surface or excellent trail signpost systems. It's no accident that two of the new water theme hiking trails received this award. Both trails lead right through natural landscapes of awesome beauty, past mountain brooks, waterfalls, Alpine lakes and shining little ponds. The entire Ötztal Alps mountain chain boasts an infinite number of mountain springs and glacier brooks fed by melting water, resembling sparkling crystals with the high Alpine scenery as wonderful backdrop. The Ötztal Valley is famous for its rushing waterfalls and lovely swimming lakes. Opposites attract: the wild waters of the Ötztaler Ache river make a paradise for adventurous rafting and canoeing tours. High above the valley you can admire the glacier-topped summits which can be conquered with certified mountain guides in summer. The valley offers a myriad of picture-book walking and hiking trails traveling past mythic places of strength strongly connected to the power of Alpine waters. Reason enough to install the new "Water Strider Hiking Trails" within the Ötztal. All routes are easily accessible for hikers of all ages and ability levels. Of course, a bit of stamina is still required as the tours do not lead along the valley bottom. But one thing is for sure, everyone will enjoy these scenic routes. Two premium trails The quality-sealed "Premium Hiking Trails" are the two Water Strider Routes to "Lake Piburger See" and the impressive "Stuiben Waterfall", Tirol's biggest fall with a total height of 159 meters – fed by the rushing waters of Horlachbach mountain brook in close vicinity to the summer holiday resort of Umhausen. Surrounded by dense spray, the falls' water particles fill the air with little glittering crystals similar to bright grey dust ("Stuiben" means "dust"). A hike along the waterfall has many positive effects on your respiratory system. Studies prove that only one hour per day spent in the falls' water spray during a two or three week stay, brings more relief to asthmatics than the permanent use of medical cortisone spray. Adventure fans should not miss out on the panoramic via ferrata – which is easy and suitable also for families – leading right to the heart of the waterfall. No previous experience is required but you should bring appropriate hiking equipment. Additionally, five scenic viewing platforms have been installed close to the Stuiben Waterfall so that visitors can experience the wildly rushing Alpine waters as close as possible.

Tirol's warmest swimming lake The second water theme trail awarded by the German Hiking Institute, leads around picture-book lake Piburger See. The tour starts, of course, on the shores of Ötztaler Ache river and travels across splendid nature landscapes to the marvelous mountain lake. Known as Tirol's warmest swimming lake, the water temperature can reach incredible 24° Celsius in the summer months. Over the years it has become a well-loved swimming lake and a great hiking destination for families – a splendid walking trail leads through dense forests to Seejöchl area where walkers enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and the entire Ötztal Valley. Walkers, hikers, swimmers and all those in search of rest and recreation appreciate this lovely mountain lake far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Therefore it makes a perfect spot for a day off amid unspoilt nature. Eternal ice and "Geierwally" The six wonderful "Water Strider Trails" are spread all over the Ötztal, offering a great opportunity to discover all the little secrets of Alpine brooks, mountain lakes and waterfalls. In Obergurgl, one of the scenic routes takes hikers across Rotmoostal valley towards the eternal ice. The frozen water of the high Alpine glacier fields ranks among the most monumental forms of the wet element. Admire glittering snow crystals of awesome beauty under the summer sun. Or visit the mountaineering village of Vent where a trail along "Rofner Ache" brook takes you to the scenic Rofenhöfe Farmhouses, the "Geierwally" film location of some decades ago. Not to forget the countless mountain lakes – maybe the calmest waters in the Ötztal – shimmering in varied colors. The lakes either can be crystal clear, milky and cloudy blue or emerald green, always depending where the mountain waters have their source. No matter which walking trail you follow, there is one thing you should not miss out on while hiking past a rushing mountain brook or spring in the Ötztal: it is an absolute must that you try the fresh and clean water. A real insider tip for water fans: in big towns you have to pay for it in the restaurant, here in the Alps the clean and invigorating natural water is free for everyone. Enjoy one of the biggest nature treasures by the wayside: pure drinking water in the Ötztal! Healing waters Hiking the Ötztal Alps in summer is not the only way to discover wonderful water highlights. The Aqua Dome Spa Center in Längenfeld has already become a renowned Alpine wellness spot, offering a huge thermal spa and health parlor plus a top-notch hotel. Only last year, another state-of-the-art Spa and Health Center was opened in Umhausen. Guests can take full advantage of healing radon spring water (bringing relief to spinal column and joint diseases, rheumatism, skin disorders, problems with the respiratory system) or enjoy a revitalizing full-body cryotherapy session in a special chamber cooled to bracing minus 110° Celsius.

Wild waters Fans of white water adventures will also find the right spots in the Ötztal. The rushing waters of the Ötztaler Ache, Tirol's biggest side river, is well-known among canoe and rafting enthusiasts. A demanding rafting day on the Ötztaler Ache always makes a very special challenge for both body and mind. Another water hot spot can be found in the Area 47 at the entrance to the valley: this ultimate adventure playground boasts great attractions revolving around the wet element, such as a marvelous swimming lake and a kamikaze water slide for real daredevils. Since there are no garbage cans along the course (a decision of the local community) we ask you to clean up and take your waste with you to dispose of in town (e.g. at the Expo Area).
