Question 1: In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The font I have used connotes to the audience that it will be a thriller as the colour of the text ,red, is associated with blood this is usually within the thriller conventions also how the font looks suggests that it is also a thriller as the font looks hand written , this shows that someone has written it suggesting that the killer of the film has written it, making the audience know what to expect.

In this clip, to follow conventions, I have made my actor not be completely in the frame, I did this so that it keeps mystery to the audience and also to allow the killer to remain scary as you don’t know what they look like so the audience would create a face for them.

I have used this music in my film opening to increase the thriller aspect as it creates suspense for the audience, I didn’t have any dialogue in the opening as I wanted the music be the only noise as it makes the audience feel uncomfortable and feeling like something will make them jump.

Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have used the pictures in the film opening to show the people that have been murdered by the killer, I have used the pictures as they are just normal people in normal clothes, this shows the social group of teenagers, and as my film would have the rating of an 15, most of the audience would be older teenagers, this suggests that they can relate to the victims making it feel more personal.

In the film I used a male actor to be the killer, I did this as I wanted the character to look intimidating and strong so when they were on screen the audience would be scared of him.

Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I would have new line cinema distribute my films as they have produced similar films to mine, for example, ‘seven’, and ‘The number 23’, Also as they are a subsidiary company to Warner brothers, This makes my film already have a pre made audience as all films mad by new line cinema are successful, so if my film was produced and distributed it would have a large fan base. As the company is a conglomerate it would have a big budget meaning that the film could have enough backing it up so it can be made to go viral and have everyone talking about it and if it was to fail it would have money to save it.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

• To attract my target audience I have used both male and female actors so there I no stereotyping that this is an only male film or a only female film, also so the audience will know what to expect I have used horror and thriller conventions so that the audience will be people who like that kind of film

Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

• I have learnt how to use programmes such as adobe premier pro, I used this to edit my films onto. It was hard at first to work out how to use things but after a while you got used to it and I could effectively use it to make my film opening. Also I have learnt how to use different types of cameras and the different settings and effects you can get from it, I have also come to realise actually how hard it is to make a opening let alone a whole movie making me learn more about the movie industry helping me in the future, lastly I have learnt how to use music effectively in my piece and again following horror conventions how to use it to make the audience react more.

Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it

to the full product?

• From my preliminary task I feel like I have progressed a lot as in my first task I didn't use camera angles well and I didn't think of a good story line, however now I have made my opening scene for a film I think that I have taking the criticism on board and made my film better, for example; I have used better camera angles in my film opening following horror conventions like having the killer not entirely in frame and not showing the face etc, also as it is a film opening I felt like I made a good film idea up, as I like watching films myself I think I had the right ideas and storyline. Also I have learnt to take critisism and make sure that I keep it in mind and change it so it is better so the end product would be as good as it can.

Speed Dating: The Results! My results for the ‘speed dating’ feedback was generally all good, and as the people in my class are all the target age range for this film I thought I did quite well for them to be a bit scared and interested in my filmOverall I'm glad about how it went and I have taken the constructive criticism on board and when I make a next film opening I will take care into making it better

ReviewOverall I feel like I have successfully made a film opening even though it has its flaws in some areas I feel like it has excelled in others, I have answered all 7 questions and i think that I have done as well as I could of. If I was to do it again I would manage my time more effectively so that don’t rush and can make more changes to it to make it better.
