10 WI Teacher Standards (1-3)

1. Teachers know the subjects they are teaching. The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines she or he teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils.

2. Teachers know how children grow. The teacher understands how children with broad ranges of ability learn and provides instruction that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development.

3. Teachers understand that children learn differently. The teacher understands how pupils differ in their approaches to learning and the barriers that impede learning and can adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with disabilities and exceptionalities.

Examples:- Through the Technology Rich Instruction plan students will have multiple opportunities to interact with the content being discussed. Students will have the opportunity to gather material within small groups from both their textbooks and a provided webpage. They will also have the opportunity to display their knowledge and understanding by placing it into different resources that they enjoy using. These include desktop publishing documents and presentations. Finally, providing students with opportunities to create and listen to podcasts and screencasts ensures that all students will have proper directions and examples to support varying rates of development.

10 WI Teacher Standards (4-6)4. Teachers know how to teach.

The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies, including the use of technology, to encourage children's development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

5. Teachers know how to manage a classroom. The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a

learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.

6. Teachers communicate well. The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

Examples:- The information on my Wikispace provides numerous different examples of technology and tools

that could be used effectively within the classroom. The information and activities I planed on my Technology Rich Instruction and Interactive Whiteboards pages also shows ways of using technology to encourage and support student development and learning. They also provide some samples for engaging and encouraging small group activities.

- Using TeamViewer in the classroom allows students the opportunity to have positive interactions within the classroom while teaching each other different skills on the computer.

- Providing students and parents with newsletters and posting podcasts updating parents on a webpage ensures that proper communication is in place and that everyone knows what is being discussed in the classroom.

techniques in my classroom. It also shows that I’m able to construct ideas and plans for how to use technology to reach curriculum goals.

- Throughout the lessons discussed on Wikispace, I will use numerous forms of informal assessment as well as formal assessment, this may be done in many circumstances through rubrics.

- Through the use of a Wikispace, e-mail and newsletters parents will be informed of the topics and technology being used in class. They will also be provided with instructional tools and contact information to ensure that I’m easily reachable if they aren’t able to help their students overcome any problems that arise when completing assignments.
