Simon James – Author/IllustratorAward winning author and illustrator Simon James will be talking about his experiences in writing, illustrating and publishing. He will discuss the making of a book from developing ideas to final artwork. Along the way he will talk about meeting publishers, understanding contracts, money(!) as well as answering any of your questions.

Gumboot Pictures – Peter Stanley WardIndependent film making – the session will cover Gumboots first hand experience of making a low/no budget feature film and consequently breaking into a competitive industry.

Plymouth Music Zone – Matt GriffithsMatt will talk about how he got in to the music business, his career to date and the work of Plymouth Music Zone.

Pete Cade – PhotographerPeter Cade Photography is a small company that provide images to advertising and commercial clients. Pete will be talking about photography in 2011.

Babs Horton – AuthorBabs Horton is a prize winning author of four novels. She has published short stories and runs writing workshops throughout the UK. She is currently writing her fifth novel, The Emporium of Dreams and a television play, The Cuckoo Chronicles.

Alchemy - Karin JordanKarin will be running a workshop enabling you to recognise the strengths you bring to your future career and where you need to do some thinking. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions.

GSMA Development Fund – Chris LockeThe GSMA Development Fund exists to accelerate economic, social and environmental development through the use of mobile technology. Chris will talk about his career since graduating and also about the work that his company undertake.

Sotheby’s Institute of ArtThe presentation will focus on the various careers paths available in the Global Art Market today.

Project Space 11 – Beth RichardsHow to survive as an artist – including strategies for exhibiting work after graduation, tackling funding bids, staying motivated and utilising a DIY ethos. Talking about ethical issues in the Arts Industry.

Helen Greathead – Author/EditorHelen was commissioning editor for Horrible Histories and the subsequent success of the series. Helen will talk about how she moved on to become a writer and freelance editor. Advice and questions for students looking to work in this area and pointers for proposals and writing ideas.

Cyprus Well – Tracey GuirySession on the work of an Arts/Literature professional and how to sustain a living. Covering various forms of employment including self employed, co-op, portfolio working etc. Tracey is an experienced senior manager and has run Arts organisations (Visitor centres, Regional Arts organisations.

Sara Fell – Designer/MakerSara has won numerous national and international awards for her work whilst studying for her B.A. (Hons) at Plymouth College of Art. Sara will deliver a session on a student’s perspective on building national and international networks whilst studying.

Talks will run from 9:00am until 6:30pm with the day finishing with a question & answer session with a selection of the day’s speakers.

Le Navet Bete Le Navet Bete are an all male the-atre company made up entirely of University of Plymouth gradu-ates, they create their work based around clowning and physical theatre. Since graduating they’ve performed in over 20 countries, as well as being credited by organisa-tions such as the BBC and Total Theatre.

The session will focus on creating a theatre company after graduat-ing from a BA Theatre and Performance course.

I shall be talking about my journey so far, as a freelance illustrator. I’ll be showing images of how my work changed throughout the course, and what opportunities I was offered after I graduated. I shall talk about my experiences dealing with different companies and share the things that I have learnt.
