Painting is one of the visual

arts that depicts variousintrinsict values of manthrough the application ofelements of art. It expressesemotions, perceptions and

feelings about a certaintheme.



1. The Indigenous Painting Period.-This is the period that happened during

early years of our existence- theprimitive way-painting was done in the walls of

caves, in the nodes of the bamboo, inthe bark and trunk of the trees, in theleaves and even in the body of aperson.



2. The Combination of Indigenous andforeign Perspective period.

- The time when the spaniardscame to the philippines.- The theme was shifted from

informal to religious themes.- Excerps from the bible stories

about the life of saints andJesus Christ were painted atthe ceilings and walls ofchurches.



The first art school

established was Escuela deDibijo y Pintura in 1821 .Damian Domingo was thefirst teacher who wasknown as the great painter

then.

of whom is seated in theforeground, with headbowed in misery









3 . The westernized Visual ArtsPeriod- this was the period where theinfluence of the west was shown

from the strokes and styles of theartists.The environment was given an

importance making the sceneand activities from the rural areasthe center of interest.











C arlos V.Francisco (November 4,1912 ² March 31 , 1969) ,popularly knownas Botong , wasa muralist from Angono,Rizal.Francisco was a mostdistinguished practitioner of mural painting for manydecades and best knownfor his historical pieces.

















All the issues pertaining to the

benefit of the society are thethemes in this period. Aspectsas politics, education, religion

and all sorts that deprive thewelfare of the general publicare given importance in thecontemporary art.
