“sustantivos” means “nouns” in English. A noun = a person, place or thing.

In Spanish every noun has a gender, either masculine or feminine

Almost all nouns that end in –o are masc.

Almost all nouns that end in –a are fem.

“The” in English is called a definite article

There are four ways to say “the” in Spanish.

Singular “the”

When the noun is plural in Spanish, the article must also be plural.

The plural of “el” is “los” The plural of “la” is “las” Examples:
