IGCSE ART Week 3 Week 3 marked the beginning of our exploration into charcoal. This drawing was done in 15 minutes. At the time, I commented about: how the proportions are accurate, how I should have measured so that the drawing would fit onto the page, and how I should add more contexts to the clothing. This was also a 15-minute drawing. I think the proportions are good, however, the chars in the drawing seem too big compared to the body. Also, the arms seem too skinny compared to the rest of the body. The outlines seem too dark and obvious. More shading should have been added to the arms. 15 minutes. The head is very round. The model has (claims to have) a more chiseled face. The left foot demonstrates bad foreshortening. The legs also look very short.

IGCSE ART Week 3

Week 3 marked the beginning of our exploration into charcoal.

For this assignment, we used two colors, in the same color family. I feel like my drawing is too dark because I used the darker color as a base. Instead, I should have marked the lighter places first so that I wouldn’t have to try lighten over the dark color. 15 minutes

15 minutes. This drawing was a slight improvement from the previous drawing. Contrast is more visible, but I still haven’t used the lighter color to highlight the lighter areas. I also need to measure so

the

WAY too big. Her hair looks like a comic book drawing. The lines on the sweater are okay, but the contrast between the color of the sweater and the wrinkled areas is too great. This makes the folds and wrinkles look like lines on the clothes. 10 minutes.

In this drawing, we were told not to use distinctive outlines. I was too concentrated on this change, so I was very hasty with my proportions. More tonal differences and contrast was needed.

This drawing was also done following the rules of the previous drawing. The shirt and the pants were too different colors, but I failed to show that because I

didn't

This drawing was an improvement from the previous ones. I was able to include some context and texture of the clothing, and I used tone to show the dark In terms of tone, this drawing is my

best one of this unit. I was able to show a clear difference in tone in the clothing, and the body.

15 minutes. I used a lot of shading in this drawing. The tonal difference is good, but in a way, the hands ruin the drawing. This was the first drawing that I was allowed to use chalk.

In this drawing, I used the chalk to its full potential. I was able to show a clear difference in tone on the face, and in the clothing. The proportions are very accurate. Hands look like crabs.

Something went really wrong in this drawing. I think I got really distracted by my classmates while I was drawing this. The right arm looks amputated. I need to focus :p

By the time I started drawing this one, I had completely lost my focus. I guess the tones are ok, but the hand…. No comments there.
