  • ROMAN POTTERY:

    • Romans used pottery for many of their everyday items

    • Roman pottery was influenced by ancient Greek pottery; however, Roman pottery often has decorations cut into it.

    • Roman pottery is split into two different types: coarse ware and fine ware.

  • Coarse Ware:

Coarse means rough and coarse ware was made roughly.

It was thick as it was used in kitchens, and it was used for everyday purposes cooking, carrying water and also eating if you were poor.

    Fine Ware:

Fine ware was more decorative than coarse ware.

Fine ware was used for dining on special occasions. In contrast to coarse ware, fine ware was much thinner and more delicate. It often had beautiful intricate decorations.

  • FINE WARE

    Make some

    observations!

  • TASK:Your task is to create your own roman inspired designs!

On the next few slides you have some pottery shape templates. You need to create your own designs on the template, using inspiration from roman

    pottery.

There will be a slide amongst the following slides displaying examples of roman designs and patterns that you can use for your designs.

If you have a printer you can print out the pottery shape templates, if not carefully draw out the shape with a thick black marker or pencil, on an A4

piece of paper, it needs to fill up the whole page!

(You can do more than one)

Once completed, take a picture and upload to class dojo.
