Art First Marking Period 2016 Kindergarten We will start the school year with art room rules and routines. We will continue into incorporating elements of art in our artworks including lines, shapes, colors and textures in our art. We will work on a winter penguin mixed media project for our Original Works fundraiser. We will finish the marking period with elements of art in the environment in our artwork including nature rubbings. First Grade We will start the school year with safety and responsibility in the art room. We will continue into incorporating lines, shapes, and color in our art. We will create a collage for the front cover of our sketchbooks incorporating the art elements lines, shapes, and colors. We will work on a winter mixed media project for our Original Works fundraiser. We will then work on form and 3-D art. We will focus on illustrators and communicating ideas in art. We will finish the marking period with practice on looking at and talking about art using art vocabulary. Second Grade We will start the school year with safety and responsibility in the art room. We will continue into incorporating lines, shapes, and colors in our art. We will work on a project to incorporate overlapping, background, foreground and horizon line. We will work on a winter printing, painting and cutting project for our Original Works fundraiser. We will finish the marking period with practice of looking and evaluating art using art vocabulary.

Third Grade

principles into our art. We will create a name collage showing lines,

shapes, and colors for our sketchbook covers. Our artist of inspiration

will be Henri Matisse. We will create a still life image of our choice for

our Original Works fundraiser. We will finish the marking period with a

Charley Harper inspired artwork to express a theme.

Fourth Grade

We will start the school year with safety and responsibility in the art room. We will continue into Bridget Riley Op Art project focusing on lines, shapes, and complementary color groups. We will work on our Original Artworks fundraiser. Then we will work on a monochromatic silhouette painting with tints and shades of a selected color. We will finish the marking period with a futurism project showing form and

movement.

Fifth Grade

We will start the school year with safety and responsibility in the art room. We will continue into a collaborative group project incorporating lines, shapes, and colors into an abstract design. We will work on a cityscape themed image for our Original Artworks fundraiser. We will finish the marking period with an expressive musical experience composition.
