George The oil painting known as the

Passion Altarpiece is a painting of a few priests carrying Jesus of the cross. In my opinion this painting expresses how much people changed in the Renaissance. People started to wonder about the world, also known as Science. People started to believe and explore Science, and Christianity was left alone. The photo shows Jesus being carried off the cross which may mean that Christianity was less popular during the time of the Renaissance.

Harris I decided to choose this peice of art to

represent Leonardo da Vinci’s task because in this artwork there is a great amount of facial detail and expression displayed on the three figures. You are clearly able to feel the emotion behind the picture and of each individual, as well as being able to understand the background (What is happening at that current moment). Without the depth of detail put into this artwork, it would not be the same. The dark shades of colours, facial detail and expression animates each character individually showing each ones emotion and most importantly their passion for the Christ (Laying on bed).

Isaac This painting by

Leonardo da Vinci shows the passion of the mother for her child and how she's clearly reaching towards him. It's obvious that the mother loves her child and this is why she is reaching for him.

Nick I think that this piece of art

best accomplishes the task because of the worry on the peoples faces. Clearly in the middle of the painting the man is dead, and all the people around him are either worried or scared or sad. This helps to show the human passion because it is true that when somebody dies, all the people around him have negative emotions. Also I chose this picture because the women closest to the dead man looks like she could have been his lover, and she was passionate about him, and then he died, leaving behind her passion and her sadness.

The below piece of artwork is a true masterpiece. Great detail is applied in all aspects of the artwork, from the background and shadings to the muscle outlines on the human body. The artist seems to have had a good appreciation for nature, as well as human nature. There are two angels in the top left and the woman on the right is waving at the woman in the middle. It is obvious that the woman in the middle is of great importance, which could reflect on something in the artist’s own life. Maybe he had a special woman too, who was devoted to nature as well. Why I chose this portrait is because of all the detail. You can see all the ripples in the lake and even everything in the grass is clear. I appreciate the fact that he appreciates nature, and he also put a lot of detail in painting the people. He was probably very passionate about beauty, not just in people, but in nature as well. The beautiful woman in the MIDDLE of the portrait standing in the MIDDLE of three people and in the MIDDLE of the lake. He is trying to make her beauty stand out.

David The work of art that I believe

best accomplishes the task is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo. The passion is of course, conveyed to us as it is also depicted in his painting. This is shown to us because he used all seven major aspects of Renaissance art: Realism, Perspective, Classicism, Individualism, Geometrical Arrangement of Figures, Lighting and Shadowing, and Artists as Personalities.

Andrew This invention, like

Leonardo's others, expresses a key element of the Renaissance era. This was war. This device specifically is the forefather of today's autocannons, and therefore has a very powerful legacy. This device blends new Renaissance sciences with art and imagination, which I believe directly ties into what Da Vinci said.

Andy Since the

Renaissance was a time of peace. Everyone thought differently. One may think of his lover while the other may think about the meal. But one of the most common feeling that people should have is the feel of Freedom. This picture best discribes freedom in my opinion because of the height we are at. Humans cannot fly but with the help of others AKA “The Horses” we are able to seek what the birds seek.

Liam H Leonardo Davinci had an assistant/

friend who helped him finish the Madonna Litta. The picture portrays a young mother holding what seems to be a newborn baby. I don’t know why but this photo just grabs me, to me it is one of my favorite paintings because it is in such detail. The detail in this photo is hidden through symmetry, Leonardos special. The symmetry of this photo draws you to look at the baby. This photo is not a sad photo but to me a very happy photo, I think Leonardo was trying to share how wonderful the gift of life is.

This was the final piece Leonardo did before he started “The Last Supper”

I believe Leonardo da Vinci’s painting ‘The Last Supper’ is the Renaissance painting which best achieves the goal of conveying the passion that animates a person. In this painting, Jesus has just told his 12 disciples that one of them will betray him and then deny him 3 times. The emotion on all of the faces and body language of his disciples shows shock and disbelief. Some have their hands are raised in shock and lean away from Jesus, such as the figure immediately to Christ’s left, while others lean toward him in a state of disbelief. On Christ’s far left three of his disciples are talking to each other and motioning to Jesus as if they can’t believe what he has just said. Meanwhile Jesus, with his calm expression and the placement of his hands looks sincere and truthful, while accepting his fate.

I appreciate paintings that hold a deep meaning. The Last Supper, by Leonardo da Vinci, is a painting that entrances me due to its meticulous detail, and the appealing use of symmetry; the walls, windows, and even the ceiling are symmetrical. Also, I particularly appreciate that this painting is related to such a meaningful occasion in history. I could stare at this painting for hours and not get bored of looking into detail and speculating ambiguous meanings that da Vinci had hidden within this work.

Chris Li Above is a painting by Giotto di Bondone

called “Nativity”. He is most famous for creating the technique of using proportion in painting to make pieces of art look more realistic. This is shown in many parts of the painting, especially in the 3-D effect of the building. Most importantly, this painting expresses Giotto di Bondone’s passion. Almost all artists paint to convey their feelings, and it is clear that one of the feelings that is being conveyed by this well-known painter from Florence is love. To be more specific, love for new life. Not only back in the times of the Renaissance, but also people today enjoy the idea that they can begin a new life and take care of another human being. With this process comes love for infants and children, and the artist here is communicating this love very effectively.

"Leonardo Da Vinci states that the supreme goal of an artist it to convey the passion that animates a person." Leonardo means that an artist should always illustrate the emotions and feelings of someone in a work of art. It should perhaps also showcase the characteristics and personality of the people too. The engraving, "The Descent from the Cross" by Raphael is an excellent work of art that represents what Leonardo is saying as it shows lots of emotions and feelings. The piece of art exhibits Jesus coming down from the cross. The people in the engraving are depressed, gloomy and miserable as they carry Jesus down from the cross he was crucified on. Their faces and postures show that they are feeling very sad and guilty for the death of Jesus. This is what Leonardo wants artists to show in their artworks; emotions of people.

Trevor Brunelleschi’s dome was a

monument of its time maintaining its title of the largest free standing dome for half a millennia. This monument of Brunelleschi’s ingenuity truly reflects this bold character, attempting a stunt that seemed impossible to accomplish. Spearheading the way for this massive construction even going so far as design some of the construction implements himself truly showed his astounding abilities in this free standing monument proving his passion by designing a landmark that still stands to this day and revolutionizing the face of architecture.

Ian M Leonardo Da Vinci and the renaissance started a new

era of painting and art in general. They were able to experiment with new paints and new styles of painting to portray the most realistic work of that they could. One drawing that may have outlined many of his paintings, sculptures and other pieces of art is the Vitruvian Man. It is a very famous drawing today and some of the reasoning for that was the more advanced understanding of the human anatomy. Using this new knowledge, painters and artists were able to make more realistic pieces of art because they then knew how the muscles looked or how they would draw thing bending. The Vitruvian man shows the basic muscle anatomy and different dimensions that artists may find useful. Also the use of shapes came into play with paintings. Da Vinci’s knowledge on this may be the reason why he was able create such life like paintings such as the Monolisa. Perhaps the era of the idea of realistic paintings started with the Vitruvian Man.

Chris J Leonardo Da Vinci stated that the

main goal of an artist was to interpret the passion and feelings of a person in a painting. To me, the painting that exemplified Da Vinci’s standards of a sublime painting was “The Wedding at Cana” by Paolo Veronese. As the detail of the wealthy people in the painting was very precise, I felt that the expression of each individual really showed his/her personality. For instance, the jester/servant that is pictured on the left showed to me that he is mischievous. Most of the wealthy people shown looked very stern as if they have been told bad news.

Seho I think this work of art

shows the passion for the arts, which animated Michelangelo because it is instantly taken into account that he could not have carved this magnificent work of art without being passionate about art. His passion for this sculpture also stands out in the facial expressions and the intricate detail that went into this sculpture.

My selection of a piece of art which represents the passion that animates a person is The Birth of Venus by Bottocelli. The piece has a certain flow, and beauty, as well as detail that really makes you feel part of the picture. The passion comes from the angels who are there to greet Venus at her birth. They do not mind that she is naked and when the women try’s to cover her with a cloth they blow it away. This is the main conflict of the piece and it is fueled by the beliefs and passion of the opposing forces, motivating them to act and clash.

Ian TI chose Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper' as my painting

that portrayed passion. In this masterpiece, da Vinci shows not only the passion and emotion of the characters within in the painting, but also the passion of the citizens during the Renaissance and the passion that they had for religion. This painting shows that although there were huge rebellions against the Catholic Church during the Renaissance, the roots of Christianity were not ignored and were viewed upon as a good thing, as opposed to the Catholic Church. This lead to the creation of various paintings of historically significant events during the Renaissance, but the type of artwork that evolved from the Renaissance made the paintings that much more realistic and portray that much more emotion. This painting is shown with much more meaning behind the figures that are amazed at Jesus' arrival, and I personally believe that this painting is not only considered a masterpiece because of its appearance, but also because of the amount of thought that da Vinci attempted to provoke when one looked at his piece of art.

Zain In my opinion, the Mona Lisa

best accomplishes this task because the Mona Lisa has a great deal of emotion in it. When people see this painting they don’t just go, oh it’s just a normal painting who cares? When people see this painting, they are wowed by how much detail is in here. The Mona Lisa makes people want to read between the lines, go in deeper to find out the inspiration into this masterpiece.
