Within this sketchbook assignment, which should span 2 pages for Art II Honors, 3 pages for Art II GT, you are to draw a minimum of five hands from observation (life-size, or close to it), in which you closely investigate the values, structure, and form or your hands...but have fun with it! Create a scene of silliness or seriousness, in which your hands take on a life of their own...maybe they go disco dancing? Or are involved in some top secret mission.. (dont use my ideas!!!!!!!) Grading Criteria: Objective Design Studio Skills Presentation You have completed two (Art II H) to three (Art II GT) facing pages to illustrate your “Handscape”. You have included a minimum of five (5) hands in your drawing. Hands have been drawn life-size, or close to life-size from observation. The overall drawing works to illustrate a scene or a narrative of something happening. There are a minimum of three materials used. The placement of the hands and images/ materials work to move your eye throughout the composition in a purposeful way. You have considered the size and pose of your hand so that it works with your composition. The background has been thoughtfully planned so that it both works to visually explain the scene you are drawing and helps to create visual movement. Proportions of the hands have been accurately represented through your media of choice. You have shown a wide range of values, from bright to dark, to accurately communicate the form of your hands. The selection of materials works to further the story or scene of your “Handscape”, as does the manner in which the materials were applied. The pages are evident of quality time, thought, and care.
