Elizabeth Mellot: An Intimate Nature (Faculty Solo Exhibition)Oct. 3-26, 2018Reception: Thursday, Oct. 4Elizabeth Mellott is a professor of photography at Collin College’s Plano Campus, teaching photography and book arts. As an artist, she crosses boundaries seamlessly, incorporating a mix of mediums. The majority of her work is alternative and sculptural, with an emphasis on photography. Conceptually, she creates art pertaining to social concerns. Her current project examines our role as stewards of the environment.

Luke Sides + Michael Lansangan (Faculty Exhibition with Guest Artist)Oct. 31-Nov. 28, 2018Reception: Thursday, Nov. 1This exhibition will feature the work of sculptor Luke Sides and painter Michael Lansangan. Professor Sides’ work attempts to make a statement about sculpture by approaching craft, process and materials in a new way. He relies on materials for his content, and common objects for his overall form, as he deals with issues of minimalism and pop.

Inspired by the true story of the tragedy of the Maxwell family murder/suicide, “House of Home” is a play for a large ensemble. Welcome to Campbell Hill’s annual Peanut Festival featuring live music, peanuts and games! A small southern town is forced to examine itself after a shocking tragedy and its residents must look to their faith and sense of community to carry on. Playwright Bekah Brunstetter, screenwriter of the Emmy winning television series “This is Us,” has said the play is “‘Our Town’ meets Krispy Kreme meets my brain.” Developed with the non-equity fellowship actors at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Summer 2010, it is produced by special arrangement with William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

“The Glass Menagerie” is the iconic and heartbreaking story of Tom, an aspiring poet, who will do anything to move on from his factory job and break free from his overbearing mother and shy, introverted sister, Laura. The play centers around the Wingfield family and highlights their hopes and dreams not only for themselves, but also for each other. This American classic speaks to audiences as clearly today as it did when it premiered in 1945.

Little Gems: An Evening of One ActsDec. 6-9, 2018Alt Lab TheatreFree Admission

“Little Gems” features numerous short-length plays with American themes. Supervised by theatre faculty and directed by second-year students, this exciting evening will feature a range of rarely performed works in the intimate Alt Lab Theatre.

Dance FusionNov. 9-10 at 8 p.m.John Anthony TheatreTickets: $10-15*Also available as a part of the 2018-2019

Season Subscription

Hosted by Collin Dance Ensemble, Dance Fusion is an annual dance concert featuring the integration of guest companies with the student performance groups. Dance Fusion will feature the Collin Dance Ensemble with guest performances by Lamar University, Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin University.

Dances at 7Dec. 6-7 at 7 p.m.John Anthony Theatre Free Admission(Scholarship Donations Accepted)

This end of the semester dance concert features all Collin Dance students performing a variety of dance styles including modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop and ballroom.

All performances will be held in the John Anthony Theatre unless otherwise noted.

Nov. 2 Chamber Choir w/ Collin Dance7 p.m.The Collin College Chamber Choir is a select choir devoted to performance of an eclectic repertoire of choral literature for mixed voices.

Nov. 3 and Dec. 8 Instrumental Jazz 7 p.m.The Jazz Lab Band performs both traditional and contemporary jazz literature. Several performances both on and off campus are given each semester. The Expressions Combo features repertoire that includes bebop, Latin and fusion standards.

Nov. 14Guitar Artists Showcase The ARTS Gallery7 p.m.This performance will feature the top classical guitar students at Collin College as soloists and spotlight music from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century.

Nov. 16-17OneSound Pop A Cappella 7 p.m.Fresh off their success at the ICCA – that’s the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella – quarterfinals, OneSound will perform current pop songs and hit songs from the past.

Nov. 19Voix Apothéose Collin Voice Student Honor Recital 7 p.m.This concert will feature a selection of vocal soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

Nov. 27 Guitar and Keyboard Ensembles7 p.m.The guitar ensemble will feature a small group of guitarists performing traditional classical repertoire and the keyboard ensemble will feature traditional piano literature for multiple performers with arrangements for electronic keyboard.

Nov. 29 Symphonic Wind & String Ensembles 7 p.m.The Symphonic Wind Ensemble & String Ensemble will perform a spring concert of traditional and contemporary wind band music. The String Ensemble is a small group of string players performing traditional classical repertoire, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble focuses on the study and performance of traditional and contemporary symphonic wind band literature.

Nov. 30 and Dec. 1Expressions Vocal Jazz 7 p.m.Collin College’s oldest established singing group, Expressions, will perform its fall vocal jazz show along with a rhythm section. The concert will feature jazz and blues standards as well as exciting new arrangements by Kerry Marsh and others.

Dec. 4 New Music Ensemble The ARTS Gallery7 p.m.The New Music Ensemble is a group of five to eight students creating new and original music compositions with new media. Works include composition for small ensembles, videos with computer music, interactive electro-acoustic compositions and more.

Dec. 5 Solo Guitar Concert The ARTS Gallery7 p.m.The guitar studies program will feature an evening of traditional solo guitar.

Dec. 9 Opera in a Box Living Legends Conference Center7 p.m.Students in the opera ensemble will perform spotlights, parodies and scenes from a variety of operatic works.

Nov. 19Voix Apothéose Collin Voice Student Honor Recital 7 p.m.This concert will feature a selection of vocal soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

Nov. 27 Guitar and Keyboard Ensembles7 p.m.The guitar ensemble will feature a small group of guitarists performing traditional classical repertoire and the keyboard ensemble will feature traditional piano literature for multiple performers with arrangements for electronic keyboard.
