Her business, Nikki’s Portraits of Childhood, is located in Regina, Sask., Canada. She has participated in many group and solo shows including ones at the Dunlop Branch Galleries, The Assiniboia Art Gallery and The Teachers Club at the University of Regina. She was also selected to participate in the Artists’ Window at the Calgary Stampede. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, Nikki was invited to be the Guest Artist in Residence at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Sask. side. Her duty was to plan and deliver art instruction to park visitors. This began her love of plein air painting (painting from life outdoors). Many hours were spent hiking, painting and photographing the many kilometres of park nature trails for a new series of paintings on copper. Nikki was an approved instructor for Grumbacher Acrylics and now is pleased to have been invited to instruct for the Art Gallery of Regina and the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre in Regina. She has been a member of both CARFAC (the Canadian Arists Representation/ Le front Des Artistes Canadiens) and the Art Gallery of Regina for many years. In 2013 she was selected by jury to participate in a year- long CARFAC mentorship funded by the Sask Arts Board and Sask. Culture. In 2015 she was invited to be one of the jury members for that year’s CARFAC mentorship program. In 2013 Nikki organized and led her first plein air painting holiday to France at the encouragement of her Cafe Sketchbook art class students. That trip being a success led to another in June 2015, and then her first group excursion to Cuba in 2016. “I’ve always loved to travel,” says Nikki, who traveled in 2008 as a volunteer with 300 others from eight countries to China. “The more exotic the better for inspiring my creativity. I crave the sights, sounds and tastes of lands unknown and value the new cultures introduced to me as experiences to fuel my visual bank of imagery. I enjoy seeing these experiences through my students’ eyes as well, as we each interpret the landscapes before us. I look forward to painting with you on the Vietnam / Cambodia Nov. 2016 painting tour.” * Prices are per person. Terms and conditions apply to all bookings. Information is subject to change.
