Hello Year 8 – we hope that you are all still safe and

well. Please complete the task/s in this Powerpoint

this week for us

Today we’re going to be designing and making a FRONT

COVER for your sketchbook that we’ll put together next week

In order to complete this week’s tasks you will need the

following: A4 paper or card

Pencils/Pens

Any other media that you’d like to use and have at home

When you have completed the tasks today make sure

you keep your front cover with the rest of your artwork

safely – next week we’ll be putting them all together as a

sketchbook

Task 1 (10 mins) You should start today by

considering WHAT WILL BE on your

front cover; you should include the

following:

TITLE (‘Lockdown Sketchbook’)

Your NAME

Some form of IMAGERY – any that

you’d like to include (print out any

images you’d like to work from first if

possible

Any other TEXT that you would like to

include

Task 2 (20mins)Now get your piece of A4 paper

or card (any colour will be fine)

and start to sketch out your

design (your composition)

Draw it out LIGHTLY first and

work out where your titles and

images will go

Try to make it VISUALLY

INTERESTING with some

FOCAL POINTS and LEADING

LINES

Add more DETAIL once the

main lines are mapped out

Task 4 (10mins)Now it’s time to refine

your front cover and

add any additional

elements to it. You could

consider adding more

pen work to make some

areas stand out, or add

some patterns into the

background – anything

you like!
