In small groups we read these diverse pieces and give each other non-critical reader responses. Anyone over 16 is welcome to attend. Here we tap into our mutual creative energy. After introductions, we collect ideas in response to a starter prompt, then each person begins to draft a story, poem, memoir, argument or whatever. The festival will offer hands-on activities and exhibits, including drawing, painting, ceramics, print-making, sculpture, theatre, music and dance. Also enjoy a family show in Palikū Theatre with cirque-style clowning, stilts, masks, shadow puppets and video projections!

Atelier Hawai‘iInstructors: Snowden Hodges and Norman Graffam, with guest instructor Jonathan Busse

Atelier is a method of art training developed in Europe in the 17th century. This course will offer intensive training in the classical techniques of drawing and painting. Portraiture and the human figure will be the focus of instruction. This course is designed primarily for those students who have some prior studio experience in drawing and a strong interest in classical realism. Courses of study includes cast drawing, figure drawing, cast painting, and portrait and figure painting.
