    EXT. STARLING CITY STREET - DAY1 1

PROMINENT in a reasonably busy STREET SCENE is MR. BOTTOMHAM. HE comes out of a JEWELRY SHOP, bearing wrapped gifts, and strolls to his curbed towncar, as --

NARRATION (V.O.)Another sunlit day in Starling City, bright and flawless as a jewel. But-- is this perfection genuine?

Bottomham is addressing his CHAUFFEUR while getting into the car.

BOTTOMHAMShove off, Ferguson. The Lady awaits!

The chauffeur salutes, the towncar HUSHES away, as a harassed JEWELER comes charging out of his store.

    JEWELERStop! Thief!

He reaches the curbs as a MOTORCYCLE COP VAROOMS up.

    JEWELER(waving bill of currency)

    Follow that car!

The jeweler jumps on the back of he bike, then QUICK PAN the bike as it takes off after the towncar with HOWL of siren.

    EXT. STARLING CITY - STREET CORNER - DAY2 2

As SOUND of siren increases the towncar comes around the corner, stops NEAR CAMERA. Next, cop and jeweler come shooting around the corner, halt next to towncar with dying SOUND of siren. They get off the bike, Mr. Bottomham watching them from his window.

    FEATURE BOTTOMHAM IN CAR WINDOW

He is totally on his dignity.

    BOTTOMHAMYou, Officer, were speeding.

Do you know who I am?!

COPYou are Mr. Bottomham, respected President of our Crime-Does-Not-Pay-Well Association, and you are under arrest.

    BOTTOMHAMPreposterous!

    COP(To chauffeur)

Right. Follow me to the station.

The improbable looking caravan takes off down the street.

    INT. SCPD PRECINCT - DAY3 3

LANCE hands LT. PIKE a bill of currency. Pike takes it with a touch of resignation --

    LT. PIKEAnother one?

Pike wearily places the bill on a staggering pile of other bills on his desk.

LANCEWhats the meaning of all this, Lieutenant?

LT. PIKEIt means, Officer Lance, there is an unknown criminal afoot.

    LANCE(pointing))

But that phony money was passed by the Mr. Bottomham!

  • LT. PIKEClearly, more victim than culprit. The pillars of our society, as well as common folk like you and I, have been inundated with counterfeit.

    LANCEInundated?

LT. PIKEAnd not by any run-of-the-mill counterfeit operation.

Picking up one of the bills from the pile on the desk --

    LT. PIKEThese bills are genuine--

    LANCEOn one side.

LT. PIKEIndeed. And fake on the other. As if some deranged mind were trying to taunt the sanity of our monetary system!

LANCEIt does sort of boggle the mind.

With a significant look at the Chief,

LT. PIKEOur minds, Officer Lance. But when at the end of reason, let us be thankful that we can call upon --

    LANCEThe Arrow!

    INT. QUEEN MANSION - SITTING ROOM - DAY4 4

The Duos response is interrupted by the appearance of DIGGLE who approaches Oliver with a significant look --

    DIGGLEYour conference call, sir.

    OLIVEROf course!

(to Moira)Concerning a legal conference which Roy and I want to attend.

Oliver and Roy EXIT, CAMERA on Moira and Diggle --.

MOIRASuch dedication! And such energy! Oliver is a fine influence on Roy, and I couldnt be more pleased.

    DIGGLE(little reflexive sigh)

Yes, Mrs. Queen. The days of youth are indeed the days of glory.

    INT. SCPD PRECINCT - ROOFTOP - NIGHT5 5

The Arrow and Roy (in his hoodie and mask) meet with Lance. Roy is rifling through the counterfeit bills --

ROYHoly Jackpot! Look at that loot!

ARROWNever say Holy Anything ever again. Youll get us in trouble with starling.

Since calling you, Ive received this intelligence from the office of my Counterfeit Comptroller.

(glances at the slip)The chief source of the counterfeit outflow seems to be-- our own Starling City Bank!

Arrow shoots a quick look at Roy, then back at Lance, controlled.

ARROWWhose Chairman of the Board is Oliver Queen.

LANCEThe young millionaire philanthropist of Starling City, and my friend.

    ARROW(gravely)

He is fortunate to have such a friend as you.

    ROY(impulsively)

Anyway, its certainly some kind of dastardly plot!

The Arrow begins to pace thoughtfully...

    ARROWYes. Im convinced of that.

LANCETo discredit young millionaire Queen? Preposterous!

ARROWThe scheme, I suspect, is much more devious than that.

LANCEIm thinking a straight-forward call to Mister Queen himself...

    LANCEShattered confidence in our currency.

ARROWThere, at least in part, we have the purpose behind the act.

ROYAnd by a very learned mind, I think. He knows Greshams Law about bad currency driving out good money.

ARROWUnfortunately, excellence of mind is no guarantee for excellence in moral fiber.

LANCEYou must be talking about a split personality.

ROYYes, most super criminals are deranged creatures, in dire need of help.

He picks up the bills, examines them.

ARROWHere too I observe a conflict. One side is good, one side is bad.

    LANCEBut where will you start?

    ARROWFishing? From the bank, Detective!

    As Duo EXITS...

    INT. TWO-FACES LAIR - DAY6 6

The room reflects Two-Faces duality. One half is modern, the other primitive like a log cabin. TWO-FACE ENTERS, surveying his quarters with satisfaction. In the process he reveals that his attire is also halved: One side is a formal cutaway, the other baggy tweeds. FOUR ROBOTS ENTER with him and range themselves side by side near the door. They constitute his gang. Somewhat smaller than average (to emphasize their later feats of strength) they are similarly bland- faced, and indicate their mechanical nature by a slight stiffness of motion. HORACE and HELMUT wear halved clothes, like Two-Face. HANK wears a cutaway, HERBERT wears baggy tweeds. Two-Face now sits down at a console of dials, coils, and viewing piece, the whole thing labeled, Roving Robot Recorder. As soon as he sits down he looks OS. When he speaks his choice of expression and delivery is (and will in future be) typically mixed; formal, colloquial; verbose, short, etc.

    TWO-FACEGently, my sweet Facilia.

    Typical switch.

  • TWO-FACENona your clumsiness!

Girlfriend FACILIA, in shapely overexposure, comes bounding into VIEW. She is indeed clumsy, knocks into the nearest robot who collapses, domino fashion -- a successive tipping of the other robots. Collapse is averted by a last minute reverse push from Two-Face. When the robots stand straight and mute again the one nearest Facilia starts jerkily raising an arm with internal SOUNDS of CHUGGING and WHEEZING. As Facilia shrinks, Two-Face deactivates the robot with a CONK on the head.

    TWO-FACEDown, Hank!

    FACILIA(squeamish)

Two-Face, baby, why do you have to keep these creaky creepers around?

    FACING with his formal side,

TWO-FACEBecause of their perfectly programmed Loyalty, sweet Facilia.

He turns to show HIS HSABBY SIDE AND --

    TWO-FACE(confidentially)

Cant trust humans. Two-faced, every one of em.

    Facilia is not comforted.

FACILIAI dont like it here, with them creeping around. How can a person keep their cool? We gonna fade pretty soon?

    TWO-FACE(declamatory)

When shall we two fade again? In thunder, lightning, or in rain? No! When the hurly-burlys done --

(typical switch)Like, when we gets the money, honey!

    He claps his hand.

  • TWO-FACEHank! A ceremonial watusi, if you please!

The robot in cutaway instantly goes to turn on a phonograph, causing a raucous watusi to BLARE forth. Facilia and Two-Face assume the stance for a moment and commence with slow and stately gyrations.

FACILIABut you didnt say when the hurly-burlys done -- whatever that means, Toofee.

TWO-FACEIt means the first part of my plan: A chaos of currency!

FACILIAAnd then we get the for-real type money?

    TWO-FACEAs planned.

He stops dancing, Facilia following suit. Two-Face waves at Hank the robot.

TWO-FACEHank! A surge of silence, if you please!

Hank instantly turns off the music. Two-Face, switching form imperious to familiar,

TWO-FACELets give a gander how Hubert is making out at the bank.

He sits down at the Roving Robot Recorder, turns dials, looks through the eyepiece of the gadget.

    INT. STARLING CITY BANK - DAY7 7

Arrow and Roy are listening to the VICE PRESIDENT of the bank, so identified by sign on his desk.

    VICE PRESIDENT(anxiously)

Im so glad youre here, Arrow. Counterfeit coming from this bank! That has never been our function!

They are contemplatively watching Hubert as --

VICE PRESIDENTThere were so many, we are still filing them.

Arrow is withdrawing his finger from Huberts collar button.

    ARROWWhat an interesting collar button.

ROYIt kind of stares at you, doesnt it?

Hubert, throughout, preserves his cool. At most, he register disdain for the intrusion and tries to commence his money disbursement, when Arrow smiles engagingly.

ARROWCleverly humanized to spread counterfeit currency from this bank.

VICE PRESIDENTBut how did you know Mr. Hubert was a robot?

ARROWI told him a rather amusing joke. When he didnt laugh, I was certain. As you knew, robots dont have much of a sense of humor.

The circular door is shut. A dial is mounted next to it, calibrated from 1 to 10, labeled: Vault Air Supply. The hand of the gauge is descending visibly towards the redline which extends from #2 to Zero. The Duo plus Vice President halt by the dial. Arrow points.

ARROWSomeone in there is using up the available air supply.

Meanwhile, Roy has started to yank on the vaults locking wheel.

VICE PRESIDENTNo use. Once shut, the mechanism only opens after twenty four hours.

At this point the needle on the dial jumps to #1 and the SOUND of the alarm changes to a staccato WHEEZING.
