Planning Goals for 2014-2015

Literacy Teachers and students used technology devices within the classroom setting to enhance literacy instruction. Co-teaching occurred in select classes Small group instruction Assistive technology to

support learners. Reading Recovery Many new books were

purchased for our class-room libraries.

We opened our new Pre-Kindergarten sec-tion of our library which houses over 400 donated books.

Numeracy Select classrooms were involved in co-teaching this year. In these classrooms teachers worked together to enhance teaching strategies. Middle years stu-dents participated in a special morning session where they solved math prob-lems with games and manipulatives.

Intellectual Engagement To develop positive, respectful learning rela-tionships. The Manitoba Wheelchair athletic associa-

tion introduced our students to wheel-chair basketball, and our students prac-ticed the sport for a week.

We had a special visit from “Made in Man-itoba breakfast where our students were treated to a free break-fast and presentation about local agriculture.

Our students enjoyed two presentations from MTYP, New Canadian Kid and Jabber which focused on inclusion and empathy.

Students at WES participated in a wonderful production of “Arf” at Christmas and the

musical “Alice in Wonderland”in March.

meetings to help them provide rich educa-tional environments for their specific group of students.

Positive Respectful learning envi-ronment Anti bullying month was a big success, stu-

dents worked in respect groups and were given instruction from guest speakers on positive online behaviours.

Classroom rules were constructed in each classroom and displayed for students and teachers to reference.

Students in our MyVoice group participat-ed in several local and global initiatives, donating funds, food, clothing and time various groups, while learning how they can make a difference.
