FROM THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
This, our last of the school year and our theme – Together in Family - is a week for reflecting and celebrating, farewelling and welcoming, finishing off and getting ready, congratulating and expressing gratitude for so much to be thankful for.
First of all, we congratulate our beloved Mrs Natasha Howden and her husband Bruce on the safe and healthy arrival of baby Charles. A beautiful boy weighing in at 7lb 1oz (in the old scale) and a joy to behold.
We congratulate and sadly farewell Ms Amy Heshusius who departed in May to take up an Acting Assistant Principal position at St Mary MacKillop, Birkdale and has, just yesterday, been announced as the new APRE at St Joseph’s Bardon. We know that Amy well deserves this appointment – she is a very dedicated and capable educator and leader within our Catholic Schools. In turn, we welcome the ongoing appointment for Mrs Therese Rae who is proving to be a wonderful asset to the St Rita’s Community. As announced earlier this year, we have encouraged and supported the opportunity for our teachers to broaden their teaching experiences in other schools and as such, we farewell and express our gratitude for the fine contribution the following teachers have made to our school this year and years’ gone by:- Mrs Lizbeth Iles (6 years) moving to St Ita’s, Dutton Park Mrs Sheridan Arndell (10 years) moving to Guardian Angels, Wynnum. Mrs Natasha Galvin (10 years) moving to St Paul’s, Woodridge Ms Lucy Walker (2 years) moving to St Joseph’s Bardon
Mr Michael Brammer (2 years) moving to St Thomas’ Camp Hill Such movement allows us to welcome new talent to our teaching staff and we look forward to welcoming: Ms Lisa-Marie Louange from St Ita’s, Dutton Park Mrs Kate Kellett from Guardian Angels, Wynnum Mrs Jayde Mills from St Paul’s, Woodridge With the move of Year 7 students to Secondary school, we alter our number of class groups from 23 to 21. The following is the make-up of classes and a wonderful team of teachers.
At this point, I also wish to express sincere gratitude to Ms Lagi Aukusitino who has so capably and enthusiastically stepped into the School Leadership team while Mr Billion has been away. We wish Lagi continued success as a school leader – she has much to offer and will be missed. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming the return of Mr Billion to

St Rita’s in 2015. We also appreciate the contribution of Ms Shannon Byriel who has taught 3L this term for Mrs Howden’s maternity leave and has done so very well. And so to our School Parent Network – this week we farewell Mrs Shannon Edwards and her family –husband, Craig and children, Keeley, Ethan, Jake and Sienna – who move on to take up residence in Manly. Shannon has been our untiring, always smiling, pragmatic and inspiring leader of our School Parent Network for the past 3 years. We thank you Shannon for all you have contributed to the family life of our school and to our students through your reliable and very competent relief work and contract work. You will all be missed. A most important farewell and congratulations go to our departing student leaders – the first Year 6 to move on to Secondary school and both our first Preps and last Year 7 students to finish their Primary Education. How proud we are of you all and know that your time at St Rita’s has been a rich and rewarding experience for all. To all of our families, may the joy, love, peace and hope of the Advent Season leading up to Christmas fulfil you with many blessings. We are thankful for the arrival of Fr Paul this year and welcome his wonderful support. I’m sure the Christmas Masses will be beautiful here at St Rita’s. To those families who may be leaving our school, we wish you well. For all returning in 2015, we have a new and exciting year of learning to look forward to in the 100 year celebration of our Australian ANZAC heritage. For this, we announce our theme for next year to be: Live in Hope – Live with Joy! May the blessings and peace of the Christ Child be ever present in your hearts and homes over the Christmas period and summer break. Anne, Shane and Lagi

MUSIC NEWS
Well done to our Junior Choir who provided some wonderful entertainment at 'Merebello Aged-Care' on Monday 1 December. The children performed a set of Carols, gave out Christmas Cards, and had a lovely afternoon tea. Just a reminder that Choir has concluded for the year, there will be no choir in Week 9. Good luck to all our Year 6 and 7 choir students, for 2015. It has been a fantastic year for senior choir with some fantastic and inspiring performances. Just a reminder for all choir students to return choir folders and music before the end of the week. Have a safe and happy Christmas, and happy “music”ing! Paul Tyrrell
