Report of Workshop on “BigData and Cloud Computing”
Aim: To Provide opportunity to faculty and PhD/PG scholars of Engineering/ Polytechnic
Colleges for improving their technical skills and knowledge.
Objective:
• To promote and foster Big Data Science, Technology and Applications in the region and
to develop core generic technologies, tools and algorithms for wider applications in Govt.
• To understand the present status of the industry in terms of Big data and Cloud
Computing.
• To Maintain easy access to your information with minimal upfront spending.
• Pay as you go (weekly, quarterly or yearly), based on demand.
• To develop a tactical Road Map and micro level action plan clearly defining roles of
various stakeholders – Govt., Industry, Academia, Industrial Associations and others.

Outcomes: Participants learned:
1) To understand basics of Hadoop and Big Data.
2) To Install and use Hadoop to manage bigdata.
3) Spark tool ,Hive ,Zepplien
4) Write Java program of pig and sqoop.
5) Basics of Cloud Computing and use of it in research area.
6) Installation of docker. How to create a openstack?
A two week STTP on ‘Bigdata & Cloud Computing ’ was successfully conducted by
Prof. Namrata Ghuse , Prof. Amit Gadekar and Prof.Sandeep Jore from Friday, 23rd October
2015 to 1st November 2015 at Computer Center Laboratory, SITRC. There were 63
participants from outside and staff of IT and Computer engineering. Staff from Sanjivani COE,
Kopargaon,MET COE, and Raisoni COE, Amravati,NDMVP COE Nashik ,SNGB COE,Gokhle
COE proactively participated in this STTP. Also PG students are actively participated in
STTP.Certificates were presented to all the candidates at the hands of Dr. S. T. Gandhe (Hon.
Principal, SITRC), S. P. Jadhav, Registrar, SITRC and Prof. Amol D. Potgantwar (Head, IT and
Computer Dept.)
