The Pastor's Page

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Any special discipline we practiced during Lent is behind us, our Easter Sunday hams

and chocolates are gone and it is time for us to begin our study of The Story once

again. On Sunday, April 10, we start with chapter 8 – A Few Good Men …..and Women.

I plan to briefly review chapters 1-7 so we know where we’ve been and look forward

to where we are going. Our schedule for April and May is as follows:

April 10 – Chapter 8 - A Few Good Men …and Women

April 17 – Chapter 9 -The Faith of a Foreign Woman

April 24 - Chapter 10 - Standing Tall, Falling Hard

May 1 – Guest preacher

May 8 - Chapter 11 -From Shepherd to King

May 15 – Pentecost Sunday

May 22 - Guest preacher

May 29 - Chapter 12 -The Trials of a King

Many of you have asked when we were going to start The Story again. I am excited toread this book with you as we learn about God’s mighty acts and God’s love for us inThe Upper Story. Please join us as we read through the Bible together.

Blessings and Peace,

Pastor Jean

Worship at Arndt's Sunday, April 3, 2016 – Second Sunday of Easter - Holy Humor Sunday - Holy CommunionIn spite of all we have heard and all that we have seen, it is often hard to believe. Because it is hard to believe, we will investourselves in the Easter mystery for fifty days (a week of weeks). Because it is hard to believe, John the evangelist will provide signafter sign celebrating Jesus' victory over death. Because it is hard to believe, the Lord Jesus will return to us again and again in themystery of the holy communion, inviting us to touch and taste his presence, and offering us his peace.

Sunday, April 10, 2016 - Third Sunday of Easter- Service of the WordThe disciples make a big splash and breakfast with the risen Jesus in the gospel. Wading in the water (remembering our baptism) andeating with Jesus (celebrating the holy communion) is our weekly encounter with the risen Christ. Jesus asks us with Peter, again andagain: Do you love me? And Jesus invites us, again and again, to follow him bringing the Easter life to others.

Sunday, April 17, 2016 - Fourth Sunday of Easter- Holy CommunionThe gift of new life , of eternal life, is the gift of the risen Christ. It is the promise of Jesus. It was true for Dorcas in Joppa. It wastrue for those "who have come out of the great ordeal" in the Revelation vision. It is true for us and for all the baptized; Surelygoodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Sunday, April 24, 2016 - Fifth Sunday of Easter- Service of the WordEaster initiates a new day. It anticipates a new heaven and a new earth. The risen Lord is making all things new. In the mystery ofholy baptism God has made new people of us. Today the Lord Jesus invites us to see everyone in a new light--through the lens of love.

Sunday, May 1, 2016 - Sixth Sunday of Easter- Holy CommunionVisions abound in the readings for the sixth Sunday of Easter. Paul has a vision about what to do. John has a vision of what will be.The risen Lord Jesus provides visions of peace that passes human understanding and power beyond human imagination.
