Intermediate Level Education / JPME Phase INaval War College at NPS

Army officers must also complete the ILE Preparatory Courses (P920, P950) online Army officers must be at the rank of CPT(Promotable) or higher to be

enrolled in the ILE Preparatory Courses

Once completed, officers are no longer eligible for the ILE 10-month resident attendance

Upon completion of all course requirements, officers are awarded Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) I/Military Education Level 4 (MEL-4) NW-3230 Strategy & War (4-2)

NW-3275 Joint Maritime Operations part 1

NW-3276 Joint Maritime Operations part 2

NW-3285 Theater Security Decision Making

Army Officers must obtain approval from their respective branches to ensure coursework satisfies all portions of MEL-4 requirements

Civilian Institution Academic Evaluation Report DA Form 1059-1 (March 2019)

AERs are required for all Army officers enrolled full-time in Advanced Civil Schooling; must be completed prior to graduation

AER templates will be emailed to students prior to graduation or at their 12-month mark (Interim Report for PhD and AMEDD students only), including guidance on how to fill out the AER

AERs will be signed by the following senior Army officers: Department of Defense Analysis Students: COL Mike Richardson

All Foreign Area Officer (FAO) Students: COL John Zavage

All Other Army Officers at NPS: COL Lamar Adams

AERs will be entered and submitted via the Evaluation Entry System (EES) database in order to allow Army leaders to find officers with specific skills and knowledge

Straight-line Radius is 300 miles

Guidance is for all US Army students attending NPS

A Pass is a non-chargeable, authorized absence from place of duty

All passes will begin and end within the NPS operating area

Regular Pass Guidance

Automatically granted during normal off-duty hours/weekends, including official holidays

Normal off-duty hours are days NPS does not require a Muster Report

Regular Pass travel without a formal request is limited to inside the 300-mile straight-line distance from NPS

If traveling outside this radius, use a DA Form 31 to request a Regular Pass; in Block 7, check “other” and write “Pass”

Special Pass Guidance (3-day or 4-day passes)

Request includes at least one duty day, therefore a NPS “Miss Muster“ authorization is required

Passes must be signed by program officer in block 12, Army Representative in Block 13

Successfully complete your program and obtain your contracted degree

Defense Analysis students: orientation begins at 0830 on Wednesday morning, 3 July, in the Mechanical Engineering Auditorium (Bldg 255) behind Watkins and Bullard Halls.
