Dolphins are small-toothed whales. They have about one hundred teeth, all of small shape and size. They look like fish and live in water but they are not fish. They are mammals. Dolphins communicate through chirps and whistles. For breathing they need to come to the surface of water. They breathe air from a tiny hole on top of their heads called blow-hole. Dolphins let half of their brain sleep at a time. While one half sleeps the other half is enough awake to keep the dolphin from drowning. Dolphins may float at the surface while sleeping or swim slowly to the surface every now and then for a breath.
