PLANNING AND DESIGNArmour Group plans, designs, develops, and produces transparent and opaque armor, land-based armored vehicles, armored ocean-vessels, and vehicle armoring kits for government and commercial clients. Our engineering group has extensive experience in designing, prototyping, and building armored and non-armored vehicles on commercially available chassis. Our engineering group is also able to rapidly develop specifications for modular armor kits for different vehicle models. The staff possesses critical skills necessary to bring products to market that are unique, manufacturable, and can be delivered at a target profit level.

Using cutting-edge software, our team of automotive and vessel mechanical engineers and naval architects can address our client’s unique design needs. Be it the design and engineering of complete vehicles and vessels or related components and systems, the armoring solutions we develop are not simply our business, but our passion.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Our company continuously researches and develops new armoring technologies to build products capable of responding to the increasing demand for protection against high-level ballistic threats while improving the specifications and performance of traditional technologies. Our materials research group tests new materials and products, to enhance our existing products. We are continually looking for

solutions that are lighter in weight, using composite materials and other alternatives to conventional steel or metal-based solutions. These materials undergo rigorous testing to ensure that the products will perform as expected in combat situations.

We have developed working relationships with advanced technology producers of new composite materials. These new materials offer improved blast and ballistics protection and are dramatically lighter than steel. Many of these new materials are so much lighter that they reduce the requirements for heavier chassis and heavy-duty suspension systems. This can possibly extend the length of time between maintenance stops, and extend the overall lifetime utility of the vehicles. They can also solve protection requirements that steel cannot, in that many of these materials are malleable and can be easily molded to conform to your needs. Armour Group has established strategic working relationships with several suppliers to test and evaluate the utility of new materials under real threat conditions. Many of the new materials will be tested by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for specific military applications, potentially laying the foundation for new ballistics protection specifications which Armour Group would be poised to meet. Armour Group views these new technologies as a very significant business opportunity for the Company; and product lines that could be either manufactured or assembled domestically or off-shore.
