    Intro Why are you here?

    Mark 2:1-12

    What is an armor bearer?The armor bearer was a person responsible for the care of a king, officer or other leader. His jobwas to refresh, protect and assist his officer.

    Some examples of armor bearers are:

    Jonathans armor bearer - 1 Samuel 14

    6 Jonathan said to his young a r m o r - b e a r e r , "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those

    uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD fromsaving, whether by many or by few." 7 "Do all that you have in mind," his armor-bearer said. "Goahead; I am with you heart and soul."

    Abimelechs armor bearer - Judges 9

    50 Next Abimelech went to Thebez and besieged it and captured it. 51 Inside the city, however, was astrong tower, to which all the men and womenall the people of the cityfled. They lockedthemselves in and climbed up on the tower roof. 52 Abimelech went to the tower and stormed it. Butas he approached the entrance to the tower to set it on fire, 53 a woman dropped an upper millstoneon his head and cracked his skull. 54 Hurriedly he called to his a r m o r - b e a r e r , "Draw your swordand kill me, so that they can't say, 'A woman killed him.' "So his servant ran him through, and hedied.

    Sauls armor bearer - 1 Samuel 31:4

    Saul said to his a r m o r - b e a r e r , "Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcisedfellows will come and run me through and abuse me." But his a r m o r - b e a r e r was terrified and wouldnot do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

    David - 1 Samuel 16

    21 David came to Saul and entered his service. Saul liked him very much, and David became one of

    The Duties and characteristics of an Armor Bearer To strengthen his officer To exalt and uplift his officer Respects his officer Agrees with and submits to his officer Repels any kind of attack against his officer, especially his back Rescues his officer from difficulty and hardship Keeps watch while his officer rests Cares for his belongings Reacts with total intolerance to any false accusations against his officer (rumors, gossip,

    talking behind his back) Aids his officer in spiritual combat Demonstrate extreme loyalty
