Words! Words! Words!I’m so sick of words!I get words all day through;

Eliza, My Fair Lady, Act II, Scene 20B

Eliza’s words are certainly what I have been hearing as we have visited in central Texas recently. Weexpected to hear a lot of ranting about dtrump and what he has accomplished. After all, the jobsreport came out and showed yet another month of job growth in the U.S.. However, what we heardmost frequently was a fatigue of the rhetoric – words – and no action.

More than empty rhetoric, it is impatient anger at the action to solve the evilness of the current stateof affairs. Children are still in cages; the national debt is increasing at a frenetic pace; Russia isattacking our electoral system. The Constitutional Emoluments Clause is blatantly abused - ignored.[editor: The emoluments clause be damned.]

Our Military is being attacked on all fronts, except for illegal jaunts at Trump-owned propertieswhere they are being wined and dined on the government bill - filling the dtrump pockets.

The latest evil outrage act is the suppression of the information about the verified whistle-bloweraccout of wrong doing by the president - with our Satan-prez declaring he is above the law; that he isnot subject to the rule of law — a.k.a. the United States Constitution.

And now, we are facing yet another war. The Liar-in-Chief has stated he does not want warin the Middle East — a war over oil. This Satan-creature has sent drones over Iran and hasordered more combat-ready troops to the region.

Simultaneously, he continues his assault on our troops - denying citizenship todependents, stealing money, congress-approved for support of our troops, forexample maintenance and building of quarters and schools, to name but a few of

the attacks. History tells us over and over again when a leader loses the military, the path to coupsd’état is set in motion.

The demands for Impeachment grow everyday. Speaker Pelosi consistently holds the line of, “Notyet.” We stand with Speaker Pelosi and her quest. Admittedly, thoughts of getting rid of Satan-incarnate do cross our consciousness. Where is the Senate? Their taciturn approval of him is afool’s journey. Their words, their actions are part of recorded history and will remain the black-faceproof of their collision in evil lawlessness.

Words, yes. Our lives depend on the success of our outcry. The rule of law, the U.S. Constitution isour bedrock of right.

We must not be silent until the boil of this time is lanced and purged from our perfect union, providing for the common defense and once again secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity!

Reflection on a Resort in Scotland and a Choice Made

— Stephen L. Love

It is quite disturbing to learn that our Air Force is being used to keep a UK airporteconomically afloat, so that Trump’s jet-set buddies will have a place to land convenient to hisluxury seaside resort…and that a number of crews took lodging at that resort…all at taxpayers’expense.

I cannot imagine that buying fuel at a commercial airport and paying commercial prices, instead of at a military base and paying discounted prices, is an option for any military mission…but then the military I grew up knowing and being a small part of, is not today’s military.

It’s now a “volunteer” military…a military, in which the patriotic duty to defend this nation, used to be shared by all classes, has now been morphed into a career option.

“A touch of patriotism would be nice, but old-fashioned self-advancement is what we are looking for.”

When the economist Milton Friedman, in his advice to President Nixon, painted the picture ofmembers of the military earning wages comparable to those of civilian, he was talking fromignorance of both. Intellectual memes of “no one likes conscription,” draftees being victims of“unfair taxation,” “fair, decent wages,” “participate in its defense [the country] with dignity, with honor and as free men,” “increases our national security,” “voluntary army,” and“meaningful economic freedom” came to be an entrée which makes war just a budget item, patriotism a career choice, and voluntary in, but no voluntary out!

I’m sorry but luring young men and women into a job where killing and being killed is anessential part of the job description…with visions of world travel and free college… is dishonest. There are no civilian jobs where you can be shot or imprisoned for life for failure to follow alawful order.

And, as for the economics of it all? For every member of the armed forces in the field there is acivilian contractor beside them, making a lot more money and free to go home on the nextflight. And their employers are cashing in big time…employers with every incentive to keep aconflict going so their bottom line looks good. There were those who saw the downside of theidea, but, like so many other incidents in life: when we came to the fork in the road, we tookthe wrong one.

Maybe this has nothing to do with the events in Scotland. Maybe we ought to just mark it up asan arbitrary mission adjustment. But in a world where Donald Trump is Commander in Chief, maybe it is just a few guys aware that voluntarism is just another name for beingShanghaied…so let’s “grab what we can from the taxpayers because everyone else is grabbingfor all they can get. Isn’t that what our free market is all about?”

Meanwhile, back at the ranch ...

Trump Vows to Protect the Second Amendment

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character in the White House and Moscow Mitch in the Senate block allefforts to pass any law that would reduce the number of assault weapons available to potential mass killers orany effort to deny those same people a legal path to obtain a weapon designed soldiers in combat.

There have been 40,791 incidents of gun related violence, 10,810 deaths, and 21,454 injuries in 2019 so far.

Meanwhile, the same despicable characters including the Senate and the House have ignored a rapid increasein opioid related deaths. From 1999-2017, almost 400,000 people died from an overdose involving anyopioid, including prescription and illicit opioids. Now Purdue Pharma LP is filing for bankruptcy and it’smajor stockholder has stashed billions of dollar offshore. No one has been charged with murder!

Meanwhile, the same despicable, lying character separates families trying to come here for a better life withsafety and opportunity. He refers to them as rapists, murderers and drug dealers when in real life theybreak our laws less frequently than Americans that were born here because they do not want to be deported.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character puts children in wire pens for days and weeks so crowded theycan’t lay down to sleep and are deprived of basic needs while the for-profit outfits who run the prison chargetaxpayers exorbitant fees.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character repeals regulations that protect the water we drink and waterused for agriculture to water plants that people will later eat.

Meanwhile, the despicable character repeals regulations that protect our clean air and our health by limitingtoxic emissions from automobiles, trucks, oil and gas wells, and power plants. These regulations make iteasier for older people to breathe, for adults to exercise outdoors, and to prevent children from sufferingunnecessarily with asthma.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character and Moscow Mitch have blocked efforts to protect the integrity ofthe ballot box for the 2020 election and they have ignored actions taken at the state level to prevent peoplefrom voting and grossly partisan gerrymandering.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character repeals regulations that protect endangered species for the benefitof hunters and mining corporations. Even the bald eagle, a symbol of the freedom we enjoy is endangered.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character repeals regulations that reduce or eliminate regulations that limitthe methane, mercury and other toxic emissions from oil wells, gas wells, and industrial factories that canpoison people and cause climate change to accelerate.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character repeals regulations that protect Americans visiting federalrecreation and camping areas by eliminating the ban of lead ammunition in those areas.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character repeals regulations that banned mining companies from dumpingmining debris with mercury and other toxic chemicals into local streams.

Meanwhile, the despicable, lying character attacks the healthcare of every American by picking away atmedicaid, medicare and the Affordable Care Act while in concert with Moscow Mitch they block legislationfrom the Democrats in the House and fail to acknowledge or do anything to control the cost of healthcare.

This is only a partial lis of the actions taken by the despicable, lying character, but this should be enough tomake your skin clammy when you think of the possibility we might have to endure five more years of attackson Americans.

Our elected officials are supposed to protect us from the NRA or the pharmaceutical firms.

Speaking of elected officials, where in the world are Ted Cruz and John Cornyn?

Day 51 and 23

Austin, TX -- Today, September 23, 2019 marks the 51st day since the El Paso Shootingand the 23rd day since the Midland-Odessa shooting.

Since these two terrible tragedies, Governor Greg Abbott and Republicans in the statelegislature continue to refuse to call an emergency special session to pass common-sensesolutions to end gun violence and eradicate white supremacy despite the fact that gunlaws were weakened even further beginning on September 1, and a spate of shootingshave occurred since then, including 5 children shot in four separate instances in Texasthis past weekend.

In fact, a new UT-Tyler poll last week showed staggering support for new gunregulations, all of which could be accomplished quickly with an emergency special session.

On preventing gun violence, the UT-Tyler poll showed:•85 percent of registered Texans support requiring background checks for allpotential gun buyers.•65 percent of Texans support allowing law enforcement to take away guns frompeople a judge deems dangerous. •61 percent of Texans support a nationwide ban on high-capacity ammunition clips. •59 percent of Texans support a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons.

How Many of These Policy Proposals Have Become LawSince the El Paso Shooting?

None.

Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Manny Garcia issued the following statement:

“Texans are clear: It’s time for Governor Abbott to call for an emergency specialsession to end gun violence and white supremacy immediately. It has now been 51days since the El Paso shooting and 23 since the Midland-Odessa shooting. In thattime, our families are not any safer and our state continues to reel from newtragedies of gun violence.

‘An emergency special session is the only way to truly start combating the scourge ofgun violence and white supremacy in our state and country. People are dying everysingle day. Governor Abbott must act now before another tragedy befalls Texas.

Every day he waits, our families remain vulnerable to another attack.”

Together We Can

As we gear up for 2020, our enthusiasm is bolstered by the majority of political consultants who tellus that all signs point to a bigger and better voter turnout than we had in 2018, and we thoughtthat was BIG. How big was it? It was the biggest mid-term election voter turnout in Dallas Countywe’ve ever seen. Mid-term election turnouts are traditionally much lower than presidentialelections. However, the 2018 mid-term turnout was in numbers that rivaled prior presidentialelection turnouts. In fact, it was higher than the 2000 presidential election turnout.

By the NumbersIn 2006, Dallas County turned blue, after years of Republican dominance. Since then, the countyhas experienced a steady growth in the number of elected Democratic officials. In 2018, Democratsbusted through with an amazing victory, including:

/12 out of 14 state representative positions;/Every 5th Court of Appeals seat on the ballot, flipping the court from red to BLUE;/Every countywide position; and/Taking back a congressional position, a state senate position, and the Dallas County District Attorney position.

In baseball, we’d say, “We knocked it out of the park!”

We All Get to Take CreditIt was our unified effort that worked for the common goal: to elect Democrats. I want to take amoment to recognize everyone that helped make the magic happen. I’m so proud to have workedand coordinated with all of our precinct chairs, activists, candidates, Democratic clubs, progressiveclubs, issue-oriented community organizations, and even non-partisan groups that registered votersand helped get out the vote. By working together, we created a synergy and a momentum thatdirected the “Blue Wave” exactly where it needed to go. Together, we won!

Community ServiceDuring my four years as DCDP Chair, we have initiated a community service program. Throughthis program, we have served the community through Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, andthe We Over Me Farm at Paul Quinn College. For several years, we have donated school suppliesfor distribution through the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, and we have collectedsupplies for hurricane victims. Why do we do this? Because Democrats care. Through these serviceprojects, DCDP takes the Party to the people. Through these projects, we meet other Democratswho care about their community.

Community CouncilDCDP has created a Community Council to recruit Democrats of every constituency. Recently, wehave expanded this Council to also include like-minded community groups who care about ourcommunity. Through voter registration drives, cultural festivals, community events andneighborhood gatherings, we are reaching out to all Democrats throughout Dallas County.

If you are interested in participating in our community service projects and/or with our CommunityCouncil, contact DCDP Administrative Director Colleen Martin at the DCDP Office (214-821-8331)or send her an email at [email protected]. Get involved, serve your community, and help us recruit Democrats from all over the county.

We need you to help us prepare for the most important election of our lives.

Support the Dallas County Democratic Party in any one or more of the following ways:1. Be a volunteer 2. Join a club 3. Become a sustaining member 4. Make a onetime donation 5. Become a precinct chair 6. Be an election worker 7. Host an event.

Go to our website: dallasdemocrats.org or call the DCDP office at 214-821-8331, and let us knowhow you can help.

Reality Facts And, here you have it in a nutshell...children as a commodity....a money-makingopportunity. This is beyond repugnant!

Here’s an idea for them that should be a BIG money maker for them...let’s repeal all thosepesky civil and human rights laws and return to the good old days when unmarriedmothers almost automatically had their infants removed from them for adoption.

At today’s prices, there’s a lot of money to be made. Or, we could bring in the Texasrangers and round up those pesky Mexicans to clear the fields...thosepecans/tomatoes/onions/strawberries/watermelons/cantaloupes aren’t going to pickthemselves, you know!

When asked if it was possible thatimpeachment might backfire, Speaker ofthe House Nancy Pelosi insisted thatpolitics has nothing to do with it. “Itdoesn't matter,” she said. “He has givenus no choice.”

“Just impeaching Trump for his badbehavior isn’t worth it,” .... “But, if hechallenges our system of checks andbalances, as he is doing, if he underminesour democracy, our electoral system, ashe is doing, if he undermines his ownoath of office as he is doing, it is achallenge to our Constitution.”

Overheard on FaceBook — Author UnknownDream Fantasy: Trump and Pence are ousted; Speaker Pelosi named president and in turn appoints Hillary V.P. .

President Pelosi then resigns, making Hillary President!

Karma reigns supreme!

Extortion by Any Other Name Is Wrong!

By going to the WH for a determination of the whistleblower’s report perhaps violating executiveprivilege, Maguire put the WH in charge of when, if ever, the report would be given to Congress. Hisclaim of “exercising prudence” is not in the law, and has resulted leaving the entire issue in the handsof the WH, the subject of the report.

Nowhere does “exercising prudence” or the law require asking permission of the subject of a criminalinvestigation for permission to conduct an investigation!

Had the Russians successfully invaded Ukraine, as a consequence of not having the arms Trump waswithholding, we would have the fate of a nation determined by an American president extorting it fora political “favor.”

Sad Day for Armed ForcesIt is a sad day for our armed forces and thecountry. It is said that whatever Trumptouches dies or is corrupted. We have hopedthis did not included our military, but thetestimony today reveals that Adm. Maguirethinks of himself as a “guest” of the presidentand that courtesy REQUIRES that he do aresay nothing antithetical to the goals of thepresident, common sense and defense of andobedience to the Constitutionnotwithstanding!

PS: Now that the Russians know Ukraine hasa shortage of the anti-tank rockets we hadoffered to them, and because of Trump’saction, they can successfully overrun thecountry. Trump will be able to add the bloodof Ukrainians to that of Mexicans, CentralAmericans and Puerto Ricans.

Billionaires Work Harder? What? What attracted my attention to the New York Times article on Presidential Candidate Yang was that heis proposing as basic a policy to accelerate theconsumer spending part of the economy. Much ofthe thinking is not about growing consumerspending (that not facilitated by consumer creditcard debt) but giving tax relief to people whoalready have gobs of money in the hope that, asFriedman once envisioned, they would “WORKHARDER.”

Do you REALLY know of any billionaires who will“work harder” for an additional million? Are wegoing to make then carry their own luggage totheir private jet???
