deburring work done at ARKU. The re-sults were completely convincing. Be-cause our customers were more than satisfied with the results, we decided to purchase an EdgeBreaker®“, explai-ned the Managing Partner, Alexander Münscher.”Our leveling and deburring centers build a valuable bridge between us, our customers and their end custo-mers“, stated Hans-Peter Pflüger. ”In addition, working with a vast range of different materials and thicknesses on a daily basis ensures that ARKU keeps its finger on the pulse of the market.“ The EdgeBreaker® series, together with the proven levelers are now available for testing and contract work at ARKU‘s leveling and deburring centers in Baden-Baden (Germany), Kunshan (China) and Cincinnati (USA).

A promising future

Hans-Peter Pflüger has made the ent-ry into the deburring business a com-plete success. ”Initial feedback shows: our deburring technology is being well received. This is a very good sign for the future.“ ARKU has no intention of resting on its laurels and will continue developing the EdgeBreaker® series in the coming months and years. In this regard, customer feedback, testing and contract deburring provide essen-tial information for the ongoing opti-mization of this expanded technology and machine portfolio.

Windhagen, Germany – Economical, safe and environmentally friendly with high-quality results: These were the requirements that Wirtgen GmbH, a road construction company, speci-fied for its new deburring machine in 2012. The company quickly found the right solution with the EdgeRacer®. For the last three years the machine has been working around the clock in the cutting department, delivering exactly these high quality results. Customers from all over the world ex-pect this from Wirtgen. This is a good

reason for the department manager Jörn Menzenbach and his 62 emplo-yees to rely on this proven technology once again.

High reliability

Customers appreciate the road con-struction technology leader‘s high manufacturing depth: Almost all of Wirtgen‘s sheet metal parts are manu-factured and processed in house. ”That is why we have to be able to complete-ly rely on our machines“, emphasizes

Jörn Menzenbach. „Naturally, this also applies to the deburring machines.“ All of the laser-cut parts are put through the EdgeRacer® prior to coating – with no exceptions. The machine deburrs and rounds the sharp edges of the la-ser-cut parts. This surface refinement enabled Wirtgen to shift from liquid coating to the more environmentally friendly powder coating. Training the machine operators also went smooth-ly: ”It was no problem thanks to the intuitive controls and operation“, exp-lains Jörn Menzenbach.

The short processing times are just as important. The external contours of the sheet metal parts from 2 to 20 mm thickness, can be processed on both sides. As a result, the EdgeRacer® saves time and also a lot of energy in comparison to liquid coating. ”I wish that all of the machines would operate around the clock with so few problems while delivering optimum results and rapid processing times“, concludes Jörn Menzenbach.

Leveling and deburring are becoming increasingly necessary for sheet me-tal processing – and belong in the hands of specialists such as ARKU. With a comprehensive range of servi-ces in both fields, ARKU helps its cus-tomers to save time and reduce costs.

Thanks to a team of highly motivated employees who strive to implement the customers‘ requests.

Customers can draw on these services at a variety of different locations. ARKU supports customers with contract work

and testing at the leveling and debur-ring centers in Baden-Baden, Kunshan (China) and Cincinnati (USA). ”Our team in Baden-Baden is highly trained and possesses both extensive knowledge of the machines and the industries. This lets us ensure that our emplo-

yees can fulfill our customers‘ needs“, emphasizes Dirk Kusterer, the head of the leveling and deburring center in Baden-Baden.

The aim is to achieve perfectly tailored solutions in the contract work area. Experienced employees in Baden-Baden deburr 0.5 to 80 mm thick and up to 1,500 mm wide panels made of steel, aluminum or titanium and in-cluding flame-cut, welded and fine-cut parts. ARKU now has more than 10 years of experience in contract leveling and processes panel thick-nesses between 0.15 and 40 millime-ters – including the final inspection, packaging and shipping.

Test runs and individual consulting about efficient system usage round out the range of services. ”Our ma-chines and services help customers to reduce process costs and efficient-ly fulfill the high quality standards of the industry“, sums up Dirk Kusterer.

Highly motivated and competent: The team from Baden-Baden implements customer requests.

Langen, Germany – Whether round, oval, square or rectangular, they all ful-fill the same purpose: stainless steel waste containers ensure rapid, safe waste disposal. Auweko GmbH has the vast majority produced by Binnox. The steel expert from Langen manufactu-res the individual parts of the Auweko waste containers along with unique solutions for private customers such as railings and gates. Binnox relies on state-of-the-art deburring technology to produce user-friendly products.

A robust waste container consists of up to thirty individual parts. Every year Binnox manufactures 5,000 units in Europe, the USA, the United Arabic Emirates and other countries. Befo-re the finished products provide their useful service at airports and train stations, the stainless steel compo-nents have to be riveted together by hand. Binnox thoroughly deburrs the components to protect the production workers against injury. This also en-sures that service workers can safely empty the containers.

For many years Binnox removed the sharp burrs by hand. ”We needed an economical solution because that was not cost effective“, explains the Managing Director Stephan Meiners. ”The EdgeRacer® came just at the right time.“ The rapidly replaceable disc brushes ensure cleanly deburred parts and quick setup times. In addi-tion, the EdgeRacer® also provides a comfortable working environment due to its low noise level.

Developed by Wöhler and marketed exclusively by ARKU, the machine has enabled Binnox to increase its produc-tion by 30% - creating the perfect con-ditions for large-scale orders. ”Each year we process up to 170 tons of stainless steel and about 300 tons gal-vanized material. Everything is quickly and gently deburred of course”, conti-nues Stephan Meiners.

Lichtenau-Grauelsbaum, Germany – Special production runs are the norm for machine building and heavy duty ve-hicle manufacturing. The batch sizes of the panels used to construct heavy-duty transporters, press parts or rail vehicles are correspondingly small. Friedmann Stahltechnik GmbH has been producing the components for these constructions for over 65 years. System flexibility and high quality parts are the key elements.

”Our broad spectrum of parts demand systems capable of handling highly va-rying requirements“, explains the Ma-naging Director Alexander Münscher. ”Our customers expect consistent top-quality from the parts supplied. We de-liver these just-in-time and directly to the customer‘s machine, where the final work is carried out by the welding robots or the processing center.“ Alexander Münscher also appreciates the internal benefits for the company. ”This has de-finitely had positive effects for our own welding shop and machining center: a longer service life for coolants and lubri-cants in the processing machines along with shorter working times in the wel-ding shop.“

Thanks to the EdgeBreaker® 4000 from ARKU. Friedmann has a long relationship with ARKU and has used its leveling ser-vices for many years. When the company from Lichtenau heard about the market launch, they promptly decided to carry out tests - with resounding success. The initial testing was followed by contract work for deburring and soon after with the purchase of an EdgeBreaker® 4000. ”After we received cleanly processed

parts, we knew: the machine is perfect for us“, continues Alexander Münscher. Since then the EdgeBreaker® has pro-cessed panels between 20 and 80 mm thick on both sides in batches of up to 200 units and with optimum quality. ”In addition, it has also reduced our produc-tion costs, we have less dust and, thus, better ambient air. Our employees profit from the considerably higher capacity and the good ergonomics for the opera-tors. The increased capacity has enabled us to go from a two-shift to a single ope-ration“, concludes Alexander Münscher.

Following the highly successful de-burring info days in Baden-Baden, the time has come for the interna-tional market entry. Naturally, ARKU celebrates the event in proper style.

ARKU‘s leveling and deburring cen-

ter in Kunshan, China, commenced the celebrations: From September 15th to 17th, 2015, interested parties had the opportunity to experience the expanded portfolio themsel-ves. This began with the press and was followed by two and a half days

packed full of demonstrations, dis-cussions and accompanying activi-ties.

ARKU also came up with something very special for its US location: On 8th October 2015 numerous custo-

mers came to the leveling and de-burring center in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the OktoBurrfest. Here they had the opportunity to discover the brand-new deburring machines while enjoying pretzels and white sausages.

”ARKU is now not only the expert for levelers but also for the new debur-ring machines.“ With these words ARKU´s CEO Albert Reiss opened the deburring info days in Baden-Baden in May 2015. The market entry was celebrated together with cooperation partners, customers and journalists from May 11th to 20th, 2015. They all took the opportunity offered by the live de-monstrations at the expanded leve-

ling and deburring center to inform themselves about the benefits of the new machines. Also in attendance: the EdgeBreaker®, developed in-house along with the EdgeRacer®, which is marketed worldwide with the label ”ARKU made by Wöhler“ in future. The extensive interest and obvious enthusiasm for the new business unit quickly made one thing clear: ARKU‘s first deburring info days and market entry were a perfect kick-off.
