ARKITEOIceland - India

Arkiteo is an award winning Nordic architectural firm with a team of higly experienced architects. We have extensive experience both locally, and on internationally. We are able to provide comprehensive design services, including architectural design, interior design, planning, lighting design, landscaping and engineering. The company also has extensive experience in the fields of sustainable design and can employ certified BREEAM and LEED assessors when necessary. Our team is also familiar with PASSIVE HOUSE design, which is the Nordic approach to sustainable design.

Arkiteo is very well familiar with the use of geothermal energy, since a large proportion of buildings in Iceland are heated with geothermal energy as well as swimming pools and spas which utilizes the characteristics of Iceland’s geothermal hot water. Therefore we normally think of saving energy for the owner and the end-users when designing a building.

Our experience is based in the contrasted Nordic environment, with it´s extreme fluctuations in temperature, precipi-tation and wind. For centuries Icelanders have lived and thrived in a harsh environment, utilizing local materials and resourse. Our approach to building design is based on this heritage which we can utilize in all kinds of design.

Our design solutions are driven by a close and constructive collaboration with the client and the end-user, throughout the design process. We uphold the architect´s responsibility towards the client, the end-user, the community as a whole, and the environment.

After a well-organized and successful trip to Mumbai in 2010 and a longtime relationship with our Indian representa-tive, Kamlesh Avasare, Arkiteo has open a branch office in Mumbai, India. Currently we are working on several proj-ects in Mumbai, India which includes a 60 story apartment tower, single family houses and some other projects.

Sincerely,

Einar Olafsson, CEO and Founding partner

The program of the bank is flexible and generic, subject to ever changing ways of working in a busi-ness that is becoming more and more immaterial. the flexible interior makes it oopen to respond to the exterior forces of the surrounding city, like an urban form of the icelandic landscape, its character-istic shapes, peaks, caves and canyons are the result of exterior forces acting upon it, such as urban spectacle, pedestrian passage and public access. the imploded block is at the same time integrated and outstanding, traditional and contemporary. it creates a stagelike space for the annual gathering for the national day of iceland. the inner void is the spatial imprint of the urban volume. its sloping walls expand and contract teh void in different directions, provding several surfaces for the light to bounce on its way from the sky to the space below. the different angles provide visitors and bankers with varying perspectives of each other as well as the city below and the sky above.
