AlpineOften referred to as the ‘aristocrats’ of the Italian wine scene, the northern third of Italy is home to instantly recognisable icons. The big guns like Amarone from the Veneto and Barolo from Piemonte grow in cool climate location, situated in the shadow of the mighty Alps. This is why they are so beautifully structured with poise and elegance.

CentralOur love of Italy comes squarely from this middle third of the peninsular – warm, inviting and brilliant with food. Here the grape Sangiovese is king , producing the deliciously drinkable Chianti but don’t overlook the eastern gem Montepulciano from the Abruzzo region, showing soft, inviting red fruit flavours.

SouthIf there was an Italian phrase that meant, ‘bang for your buck’ we would use it here. Overlooked for a long time the gloriously hot south of Italy is the cradle of where European wine started, Primitivo being a great example of this. Producing luscious reds and citrusy whites, this really is a region to get to know.
