In 1995, John McGrath made the decision to attend a real estate conference in the USA.

His desire was to access top-level thinking that would benefit his role in Australian real estate as well as improving our industry as a whole.

Inspired by the high standard of training and actionable ideas he gained when he met and learnt from America’s top agents, John returned to Sydney with an enormous understanding of the value these conferences bring.

Frustrated that no similar conference existed in Australia, John invited the US presenters to speak in Australia. They accepted and, shortly afterwards, John became an early market disruptor, staging the first AREC conference.

The AREC brand was founded on the belief that regardless of what the market is doing, it’s what you’re doing that’s important - there is no reason not to be successful. Today, the conference has grown exponentially over 19 years, attracting the world’s leading speakers, motivational coaches and industry shapers, including our home-grown visionaries and experts.
