PARISH MISSION PRAYER Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we ask you to set our Hearts on Fire with the love and mercy of your Son, Jesus. We pray that through this parish Mission, the faithful may be renewed in courage, that those who have left us will return, and that the parish communities of St Joachim and St. Joseph may be set ablaze with the fire to strengthen their relationship with you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as we go out to build up the Kingdom of God. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! – Praying like Faithful Children How often have we encountered a small child persistently asking over and over for the same thing? How often have we ourselves done this with our Heavenly Father in prayer? Perhaps we think we shouldn’t take this approach, and yet Jesus Himself reminds us that persistence in prayer is really important. Pray always—like faithful children, let “Our Father” hear from us our deepest need. Persistent prayer is an act of love and trust in God. (CCC 2742) archstl.org/dynamic

THIS WEEK’S READINGS: Today’s readings underscore the power of a good relationship with the Lord our God. Would it have been possible for Abraham to bargain with God for the lives of the people in Sodom and Gomorrah had he not already known God well? And how can we call God our Father unless we are personally familiar with the Lord? Today readings invite us to examine our relationship with God.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:

How can I become “young in the Lord” once again, and celebrate World Youth Day right here at home by making time for intercessory prayer on behalf of others and practical service of a specific neighbor in need?

DON’T FORGET!! Tonight, following the 4:00 pm Mass we will continue to celebrate the Feast day of Sts.

Joachim and Ann with a light supper provided by the St. Anne Sodality. Please join us in the Incarnate

Word Center for a great evening of food and fellowship!

Our Sympathy: All of us at St. Joachim & St. Joseph join in offering our sympathy and prayers to the families of: HARRY A. BOURBON JR., wife Dawn Portell Bourbon and son Michael Bourbon; JOSEPH ‘POPEYE’ JULIETTE, children Marcia (Charles) Kissire, Sharon (Kenneth) Boyer, Elaine (Ralph) Pickett, Susie Juliette, Lynn Juliette (Liz Bennett), Billy Juliette and Steve (Kathy) Juliette. May God continue to comfort them in the days ahead.

On your Anniversary, May God bless you and grant you joy. May He deepen your love for each other. May He bless you + in your family and friends, and lead you to unending happiness in Heaven. May Almighty God, Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit, Bless us all, and keep us in His love forever and ever. Amen

Are You Registered? Did you know that demographic studies estimate that more than 1/3 of all Catholics are not registered in a parish? If you are not registered in our parish, please consider doing so. Also, please encourage your friends and family to register! Registering is important because: •If a parish doesn’t know who is out there, how can it adequately serve the needs of all – especially singles, divorced or young families who may not see the need to register? •When the services of the Church are needed - such as for a wedding, Baptism or funeral - it is easier if the person is registered. •Registered parishioners receive helpful information about our parish in the form of newsletters several times throughout the year. Registering is easy. Call the parish office at 573-438-6181 or look for a registration form at the doors of the church.

Discerning your vocation in life: Jesus’ core message—that we are one—is surely one of the great mysteries of existence. This truth is so hard to accept because our senses tell a different story: We are separate, different, and alone. We need an image to help us realize what our senses cannot. Picture the giant redwood trees of California: They only grow in groves. Moreover, each tree’s roots extend and grasp the roots of the surrounding trees, forming a strong, interconnecting network that serves to nourish and sustain all of them equally. Remember the redwood trees and their invisible, interlocking roots as you discern your vocation. You are not alone and never will be on your chosen path to Christ.

What is an endowment program? An endowment program establishes a fund that remains invested on behalf of a particular organization. The principal amount continues to grow through donations, and is never withdrawn or spent, only invested. The income earned through the investments, however, becomes an on-going source of revenue that increases as the principal in the fund grows. The Archdiocese of St. Louis is fortunate to have already established an overall endowment fund into which all endowments are poured. This endowment program is held in the Restricted Fund (hereinafter called “The Fund”), a sub-account of the St. Louis Archdiocesan Fund. Financial professionals manage the Fund. It combines the endowments of individual parishes, agencies, high schools and the Archdiocese itself in order to maximize investment returns. The Fund, established during 1996, is segregated from all other assets of the Archdiocese and is used only for the donors’ specific intentions. The substantial value of the individual accounts allows the Fund to be invested efficiently and economically. The Archdiocese of St. Louis uses an Investment Guide for the St. Louis Fund, which houses all the endowments in the Archdiocese. The fund has a diversified portfolio that is conservative in nature. The fund is professionally managed by five different fund managers. These professional money managers report to the Investment Committee of the Archdiocesan Finance Council. St. Joachim has two Endowment Funds with the Archdiocese established many years ago. We are keeping up with technology! Our parish provides Online Giving as an electronic tool for contributions so you can give via the Internet. Online Giving helps you maintain your giving even if you cannot be here at Mass. This also helps the parish streamline our cash flow, especially during bad weather or vacation times. Go to our parish website at www.stjoachim.org to get started today. Just look for the Online Giving section on the home page. If you have any questions please call the parish office! If you don’t have access to a computer but would still like to utilize this service, we will be happy to assist you.
