Belonging“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were baptized by one Spirit into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” I Corinthians 12:12-13

Ministry Goal: The congregation is considered a “family.” Families consist of all persons, united through a connected relationship. We are connected through our common love for our Lord. Our goal is that every person who becomes a part of our family will find their connection and no one will ever feel alone in the midst of the many.

Serving“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 NIV

Ministry Goal: This congregation commits to a lifestyle of ministry in striving to be like Jesus as servants, whether inside our church, the local communities, and beyond. Serving is not an option. Worshiping“Worship the Lord with gladness” Ps. 100:2; “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord’” Ps. 122:1Ministry Goal: The First UMC of DeLand proclaims that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of all humankind, and conveys the scriptural truth that eternal life begins at the moment a person accepts God’s grace in response to the saving love of Jesus. We believe that God has called His people to gather in worship to give Him glory and praise. It is our desire to provide a variety of worship experiences which will reach all people. We will seek to reach those who are a part of the family of God as well as those who are disconnected from His family.
