Meeting called at 7:10pm, minutes from November had changes, to be emailed out for approval of changes. Minutes are posted on Area website, each month under the board tab.

Financial Report: Frank

See attached Balance sheet and P & L. One region still has area fees outstanding. Need to come up with a fee for YDP participation

League Play Through and All-Stars: Craig

Thanks to 214 for coming through with fields for league play through due to the rain.

Mandatory League coaches meeting, February 16th at Jane’s home, to go over expectations for Section Play.

All-Stars:

Managed to re-schedule about 20-30 games for Section and most of Area and regional play.

Lisa offered Shiverly for evening games with lights for the scheduling of playoffs. M/W/F 5:30 – 9:30pm

New website for score reporting and schedules is Awesome, Craig has been given lots of good feedback. Craig becoming an Intermediate webmaster.

Playoffs for Section teams will be February 15/16 – Hosting by the region whose field used. Waiting for Pasadena to confirm their fields.

GU12 and BU14 Area playoffs will be midweek due to players from those team playing in Riverside for Section One, league playoffs. GU12 at Shiverly and BU14 at Arcadia City Hall.

Regional and Area team playoffs otherwise will be Feb 28-March 1.

Lisa wanted to discuss the “Playdown, no playoffs rule”. Heated discussion followed.

Motion Made by Lisa: Playdown, no playoffs rule should change for next All-star season. Second by Dave Lemos. Call for vote, in favor 4, against 4, 2 abstentions. Motions does not carry.

Referee Report: Scott

Handed out update on the approved changes from last meeting, see attached. Had a number of open games on first weekend but this number improved the

next weekend. Have had 23 out of 1160 missed assignments, very impressive, have had no

reports of teams covering own games so not sure how accurate the numbers are. Working on schedule for playoffs Have discussed with Regional Referee Admins, for league play through having

no referee coverage, so working on a system for next year.

ADRI – Anne

Has been out to Region 1304 mentoring and had positive feedback.

ADRA – Bruce

Starting to get assessment requests now that YDP season is coming. Remind regions to get assessments on the schedule.

Area Report: Jane

Reminder that EXPO is coming, see dates on agenda. Please encourage your board to attend. Reminder of early bird prices.

Regional Commissioners look to be signing up for the NAGM soon, again cheaper to do it now.

Logos: The new Fox Sports 1 logo as well as the standard AYSO logo must be on all uniforms ordered after March 1st, this will include any uniforms that you re-use.

Management Instructors: We need to identify and encourage volunteers into Management instruction, important that we make sure all our regional board members are properly trained and encouraged to do more.

Roadshow fees, we still have some regions in Area 1C that have fees outstanding, can we please take care of that asap.

VIP: Tom

Will host our 2nd annual VIP camp again this year. A6 week camp, at no cost to the player. Run by AYSO camps and hosted on 214 fields. Held on Sundays and we are encouraging players to pre-register so we have an idea of numbers.

Camp to run March 15 through April 26 for 6 weeks. See flyer attached.

Section One Reports: Jane

Deadlines for EXTRA are coming up, foe those regions who are interested in participating this next year. Reminder there is to be no tryouts before April 1st.

Guidelines and applications need to be submitted to Section before your programs will be approved.

Eligibility for sending teams to any Section Playoff: You must be current on all of the following: RAP submitted, Budget in, all key board positions filled and trained, finances current.

Section looking for volunteers to help at section events, some old timers have retired and there is a real need to train new blood.

Coach Administrator Report – Mike

Roadshow went very well, we had very few coaches from Area 1C attend. We will be hosting another Intermediate and Advanced coaching course last

weekend in May in Glendale. Working on instructors for these courses.

Please remind all of your coaches about park and field rules, turf field rules to be posted as a reminder to all coaches and parents.

Looking to fill some Area positions, if you know anyone who is interested in volunteering at the Area level.

Area 1C – Region Reports  Region 88‐ Aldo  Region 88 will be participating in the Spring YDP season (172 players signed up so far). Graduation Series will start Feb. 7 (101 signups so far). Fall season signups are being accepted by mail for Under 12 and older players, VIP players, and head coaches’ children. 226 head coaches and 116 assistant coaches are in place for the fall season. Board dinner this coming Saturday. Inducting Bob DeRosa and Easy Delaney into the Region 88 Hall of Fame.   See you all Thursday (I’ll be a few minutes late due to practice).  

Region 60 – Rolando  ‐ 2014 Board "Thank You" dinner this Friday ‐ Commenced the 2015 Board Nomination process ‐ Preparing for YDP Season ‐ awaiting response from current coaches to determine the need for volunteers. We are limited on the number of teams due to limited field space and referees in the spring.   That's pretty much it for now.   

Region 13 ‐ Al 

6 teams playing Grad Series 8B and 8G 

o   A full blown Referee Mentor program – an experienced ref at each game to help the refs 

o   Very well received and really helps sidelines 

∙        35 teams playing all‐stars 

∙        Getting ready for YDP registration 

∙        Fall 2015 is right around the corner 

o   Working with treasurer (Angel Huitz) to approximate, with as many variables as we have,  costs per 

player per program 

o   Working with Coach Admin (Heidi Taylor)  and division coaches on securing as many coaches as 

possible 

o   Will hold 2014 Post Morten (TBD) to identify what worked well in 2014 and areas we may want to do 

differently in 2015 

∙        Announced General Board meeting, to let the region know about accepting new board members 

o   Not asking all current members to return – causing some issues 

∙        Promoting Tri‐Section in March 

∙        Some coaches are researching EXTRA 

  

 

 

Region 2‐ Peter Smock  We held YDP registration and have 261 signed up in U10‐14.  If we have an upper division in YDP we will probably add 65 more.  Challenger is accepting applications for the spring U5‐8 clinic they run in conjunction with region 2.  Volunteer dinner was held Friday night and coaches, refs, team managers, division coordinators and the volunteer of the year were honored  Our executive board is filled with a new registrar and CVPA.  Everyone else returned as did most other board members.  

Region 98 Report –Dave/Mike  ‐‐ Had first YDP sign ups on Saturday, 1/23 and Wednesday, 1/28.  Final registration day is 2/7. ‐‐  All‐star season seems to be going smoothly. ‐‐ Board elections in February.  In search of a few executive positions (CVPA, Treasurer), but the outgoing exec members are remaining on the board so the transition should be smooth. ‐‐  First Fall registration event scheduled for March  Region 214 ‐ Maurice 

End of 2014 saw us electing new board members for positions that have come up as former board members transition off. New slate is: Noel Garcia ‐ Assistant Commissioner Jessica Zall ‐ Registrar                 James Lacey ‐ Safety Director Noe Zurita ‐ Treasurer  All are planning to go to San Diego for EXPO All Stars is in full swing. Using the Arroyo and South Pasadena Middle School Fields  Volunteer Appreciation Party taking place this weekend Also looking at implementing owl boxes similar to what Van Nuys/Encino Region did in Balboa Park to combat gopher problem.  Becoming precarious. Meeting next week to plan first registration dates in March and consider online registration for returning coaches and/or referees  

Region BH #1304 ‐ Sandy 

No graduation series. 

Thank you to all regions for supporting Boyle Heights in the All‐Stars season with fields and Referee 

coverage.  

We are in the process of recruiting and filling in spots for our Board. 

Need to work on the EXPO. 

We have a new RRA that is excited and doing a good job in our Region to help his name is Gerry Rojas. 

We have registrations dates for 2015 in our Calendar: 

March 7th and 12th 

April 4th and 11th 

May 2nd and 16th 

Region 908   Graduation is coming along great, 4 Regions our working together to make it work.  Parents and Players are having a great time.  My thanks goes out to Alhambra, Temple City and San Gabriel.   I will have about 6 board members going to Expo. All current Board will stick around for another year   Please help to keep Madrid Clean.  Please remind parents to pick up after themselves after their games.
